“Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.”
—Regular intro to the popular soap opera, ‘Days of Our Lives.’
Those who keep a careful watch on events which happen in the times in which we now live, are USUALLY convinced that we are NOW living in the end times.
Others would argue that we are now living in the ‘LAST DAYS’ of the end times.
And still others–more in tune with the world–believe the whole ‘end times’ idea is overblown–therefore, any mention of the topic is regularly ignored.
Those worldly authorities which provide definitions for words have their facts a bit garbled.
But then, when the topic turns to Christianity, they usually DO get somewhat mixed up .
One dictionary has this definition for ‘end times:’
(Christianity) The days leading up to the second coming of the Messiah (Christ), when the world will be judged.
[Did the reader notice how carefully this worldly source avoided using the name of Jesus?]
God’s Word is fairly clear on the matter: the end times (a phrase NOT used in God’s Word) stretch from when Jesus Christ FIRST walked the earth UNTIL He returns.
[ALL those who believe that the 1st Century apostles and prophets were WRONG in referring to their current time period as “the last days,” should consult 2nd PETER’s 3rd chapter.]
“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
–2PETER 3:8
The apostle Paul (CLEARLY the author of the Book of Hebrews) confirms this in the opening of the Book of Hebrews, by referring to his contemporary time as “these last days.”
“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds”
–Hebrews 1:1-2
The apostle Peter concurs–though Peter uses the phrase “these last times.”
“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you“
–1 PETER 1:18-20
The preceding was written in order to WARN the reader that time is running out.
ALL were commanded to ‘WATCH’ by Jesus Christ Himself.
“And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”
–Mark 13:37
But sadly, MOST do NOT.
When changes to the way man has conducted the affairs of his brief life have taken place recently, the NON-watchers frequently yawn and offer some platitude about how “Change is necessary; change happens all of the time; change is good.”
THEN, they go back to doing the things the deceived do.
Man’s life (even those who live to be 90 or 100 or longer) is short.
“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”
–James 4:14
So, this is the latest WARNING to the reader that “like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.”
- Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation
- Is your calling and election sure?
- Do You Know Jesus?
- End Time Rising: Running out of Time
- End Times Rising: What to Look for in the End Times
- End Times Rising: What NOT to Look for in the End Times
Time IS running out.
It is FERVENTLY hoped that the reader heeds this message.
HAS the reader seen the need to prepare for life’s uncertainties as God’s Word advises?
END TIMES PREPARATION: 15 Ways to Prepare for the End Times
OR, has the reader INSTEAD fallen on the advice of the world and tried PHYSICALLY to prepare for what’s coming?
It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
Make Your Calling and Election Sure: End Times Survival
DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?
Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation
THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
