Some occurrences happen so often AND so regularly: they are EXPECTED.
And so it is almost EVERY TIME an article is published about one’s eternal salvation.
DUE to the unbiblical nature of the stories told in the buildings known as ‘churches–and the repeated re-telling of these tales–there appears to be a great deal of CONFUSION over the topic.
In short, the CONFUSION appears to be over the consequences of one’s actions and behaviors.
God’s Word is VERY clear about a person’s eternal salvation–even if what the world insists is true runs counter to what God’s Word has to say.
In the world’s view, God is a sort of super bean counter, totaling up a person’s mistakes, miscues and errors ALONG with all of the GOOD THINGS that person has done. Most stumble through life HOPING that things will “balance out” for them so they can make it to heaven.
But, that is NOT what the Bible says.
So, just to keep all of the readers on the same page, here are a few points of what God’s Word has to say about eternal salvation.
* God does NOT care if you are the mayor of the largest city in the state or a dirt farmer. In other words, God is NO respecter of persons. A person does NOT get ‘extra credit’ because they are rich, famous or good-looking.
“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.”
–Acts 10:34-35
* EVERY human that is eternally saved is saved BECAUSE God had MERCY on that person.
Period.
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost”
–Titus 3:5
* Because God created ALL, he can decide to save WHOEVER HE PLEASES–and God ALONE decides.
It does NOT matter how righteous a person may APPEAR to be: God is the final–and ONLY–judge.
“Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.”
–Romans 9:18
* What causes God to show mercy to one person over another?
God sees ALL. BUT, God is moved by a person’s GENUINE FAITH and a person’s FEAR OF THE LORD.
God saves some for reasons NO man can understand.
“And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.”
–Luke 1:50
“The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.”
–Psalm 147:11
God does not save ANYONE because they do good things. The Second Chapter of Ephesians sums the point up nicely.
“For by grace [mercy] are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
–Ephesians 2:8-9
* God put a bit of His power in the gospel–which is why the gospel of Jesus Christ is so powerful.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
* Finally, God saves those who put their TRUST and FAITH for their future in His Son, Jesus Christ will NOT be ashamed.
“For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”
–Romans 10:11
“As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”
–Romans 9:33
“Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.”
–2PETER 2:6-8
The preceding (along with Romans 10:9-10) constitute a person’s short course on eternal salvation.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
