RANDOM THOUGHTS 16
Originally posted: April 29, 2022

Various bits of miscellany which have accumulated (mostly on sticky notes and scraps of paper) since the last RANDOM THOUGHTS (almost three months ago).

PERHAPS this offering should have been called “Random Thoughts about Random Thoughts,” since the first two or three items address that specific topic?

When EVERYBODY (the government) pays, then NOBODY pays.

At least that is the thinking of many moderns.

This is evident from the great number of people who treat government benefits and other monies AS IF there was NO cost to this largesse and no differently than if this benefit suddenly “dropped out of the sky.”

A LARGE number of moderns suppose that their monthly checks from the government are a “right” and as such, they DESERVE those benefits.

The money which pays for those benefits is not seen as having come from ANYWHERE or ANYONE previous to the government having possessed it.

There appears to be a natural reluctance on the part of man to PUT AWAY the many stories he has been told from his youth.

EVEN IF ONE KNOWS BETTER–or can see through the sugar-coating of lies–the comfort such stories bring all those who believe in them often outweighs any benefits the truth might bring.  At least that is the way that almost ALL moderns behave.

Regardless of what he may say to the contrary, man LOVES his routine.

Perhaps this is because most men are CREATURES OF HABIT–and what is a ROUTINE but habits which are formalized and organized into mostly-daily behaviors?

There is a COMFORT to the routines which most men organize and create.

Perhaps this is one reason why times of chaos and confusion affect men so: the routines they have grown so accustomed to visiting–many daily or even, MULTI-daily–are suddenly uprooted and often suffer irreparable harm.

The sense that NOT all is right with the world may be more than just a vague perception of troubles on the horizon.

WHAT IF there is something deeper going on which the person affected does not see?

A bit of what that ‘something’ that one cannot see is hinted at in the entire quote of “all is right with the world.”

AT LEAST ONE of the dictionaries gives the entire entry as “God is in his heaven and all is right with the world.”

Robert Browning (in 8141) first expressed the thought in print over 180 years ago.

Perhaps the feeling that “NOT all is right with the world” is a WARNING that man gets from his CREATOR—even if that man denies such a CREATOR exists?

Could such a feeling of unease perhaps cause that man to RE-EVALUATE his behaviors, his circumstance, his life?

Perhaps.

Those who propagate the propaganda that one partakes of EACH AND EVERY DAY do NOT take a DAY OFF if nothing much is happening.

This is one big reason that modern man will STILL be surrounded by false stories and premises regardless of whether anything happens to further that particular false story or false premise along.

The Wicked Take No Vacation

Over the years, we are REPEATEDLY told that “No man is an island.”

HOWEVER, modern man is increasingly finding ways to disprove that supposed maxim.

EACH modern appears to live in a sort of SELF-IMPOSED isolation; a sort of informational cocoon: MOST moderns become  SEPARATED from their family, their former friends, their fellows AS IF those groups of people FORMERLY referred to as a person’s “support network” did NOT exist.

These PERSONAL contacts have been increasingly supplanted by an IMPERSONAL collection of government agencies, NGOs, and other alternatives.

It may be true that “No man is an island.”

But every day brings us closer to a time when perhaps that motto may be swept into the ash heap of history,” replaced by latest tidbit which flashes across the screen of man’s smartphone or computer.

The observations and small details which are noticed a man will have as a FOLLOWER OF JESUS CHRIST are NOT the same ones he had when he was a heathen.

IF God’s Word is true, then this would HAVE to be true as well.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
–2CORINTHIANS 5:17

One CANNOT be a NEW CREATURE if one still lives by the OLD LIES.

One of modern man’s GREATEST DELUSIONS is that modern man possesses “something inside” which some refer to as “The (Modern) Art of Navigation.”

This “something” that modern man supposedly has inside of him is seen BY MAN as a guide through troubled times.

And when one forsakes his CREATOR, one USUALLY finds SOMETHING ELSE to worship.

Many moderns have found that “something inside” to be a nearly-perfect substitute for the God they no longer believe in.

In this regard, the Art of Navigation is more an idol than a true guide through troubled times.

OF COURSE, if one’s idols (or what lies behind that idol) waits until the times are VERY chaotic to desert that person who previously depended upon it, then where does the person NEXT turn to for comfort and guidance?

“But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.”
–1CORINTHIANS 10:20

OR, does that person–having forsaken his CREATOR–give up on comfort and guidance?

A person may depend a GREAT DEAL on his Art of Navigation IF that person NEVER ventures very far from shore.

AND THESE are what pass for Random Thoughts in the times in which we now find ourselves.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

Demons As a Sophisticated Behavior Modification Tool

MAGICIAN and DEMONS

Those who presently dwell upon the earth seem to have one of two reactions to the word “demonic” or “demons.”

1- They believe that demons are part of Satan’s kingdom and that Satan–somehow, some way–has CONTROL over these entities which God’s Word calls “evil spirits” or “unclean spirits.”

Satan, though he may utilize the demonic from time to time; though his aims and demonic aims merge from time to time, has NO control over demons.

However, the deluded followers of Satan will say ANYTHING to glorify their leader.

The Many Stories Told By Satan’s Storytellers to Stroke Satan’s Ego

2- OR, the topic of “demons” is a cause for mirth and laughter.

Those so deceived believe that if another utters the word “demons,” it is a sign of someone who is ‘not all there.’

That this person has a primitive mind which focuses on tales and stories.

Never mind that the complete OPPOSITE is true–as will be clearly demonstrated during the last days.

But here is a thought for the reader to ponder:

“WHAT IF demons are a sort of sophisticated behavior modification tool used by the one who DOES have control of these tormenting spirits?”

During the last days’ judgments, God’s army is shown in God’s Word to be composed of–at least partially–DEMONS.

And those demons are CLEARLY taking orders from God Himself.

NOW, there are a few COMMITTED evil-doers among men who will endure the torture of demonic torment in order that they stay true to their wicked goals.

Might God use demons as a sort of ‘messenger to the foolish’?

MOST men shy away from torment and ANY physical discomfort.

So, might not God use those demons/evil spirits/unclean spirits as a sort of “melancholy messenger“?

To try and turn men–in order for them to avoid even-worse, FUTURE torment and affliction–to God?

Or some similar end times task?

SOME men may be reasoned with.

OTHERS, well, they might need a little “stronger medicine” than the words–powerful though the truth may be–of God’s Word?

Might evil spirits be a sophisticated, advanced form of that ‘stronger medicine?’

Just a thought…

Speculation

SPECULATION

SPECULATION is much better-sounding than ‘wild guess.’

God’s Word does NOT provide ALL information about everything.

That’s one BIG reason that SPECULATION tries to ‘fill in the blanks.’

BUT, Jesus stated that there is a reason for this incompleteness.

“I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”
–John 16:12-14

God’s Word being incomplete is NOT a flaw or unplanned drawback.  God’s Word provides all of the needed information which man can use AT PRESENT.  No doubt there will be additions to this body of knowledge at a later date, WHEN IT MAY BE MORE NECESSARY for man to have that information.

This is the definition the dictionary provides to those curious about speculate.

SPECULATE

1- to meditate on or ponder a subject : REFLECT

2- to review something idly or casually and often inconclusively

3- to take to be true on the basis of insufficient evidence : THEORIZE

A FOURTH definition of the word SPECULATE might be, “A best guess about that which is NOT known based upon knowledge which is known.”

Because God did not provide EVERY bit of information for man’s use, is NO reason for the believer to SPECULATE (guess) about that information which is NOT provided.

ALL will be revealed in good time.

“For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.”
–Luke 12:2

And so, some favorite bits of speculation–which were ORIGINALLY planned for this piece–are NOT going to be published.

Many of these little bits of information had to do with HEAVEN, as God’s Word gives a MUCH MORE COMPLETE view of hell than it does heaven.

BUT, it would have been impossible to reconcile 1- SPECULATION about what is NOT written in God’s Word and 2- the warning that one should AVOID speculating about what is NOT in God’s Word.

Does the reader speculate about anything in God’s Word that is NOT spelled out?

When It Gets Right Down To It: Most People Are More Concerned About Themselves Than Others

YOU

“For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.”
–Philippians 2:21

IF one has attended many funerals, then one has had to hear someone remark about how “so-and-so is looking down from heaven on us right at this very moment.”

Or words to that effect.

NOW, perhaps the person who voices such a thought really believes it.

Even though NOT much thought obviously was put into that thought before it was spoken.

Recently–while attending a funeral service–this thought was overheard by one of the deceased’s relatives.

Though it is supposed that people of good will can believe that their dead relatives are watching over them (perhaps that is a comfort), in EVER SINGLE INSTANCE that someone visited someone in this life with a message, God’s Word does NOT say they came of their own volition (whether deceased or angel).

In EVERY INSTANCE, the messenger was SENT by God.

So, the initial reaction was to question that person at the funeral.

“Really?  If YOU went to heaven, do you think that YOU would be interested in the comings and goings of THIS life and those who were still stuck in it?”

“How can you say such a thing?  How can you even think of such a thing? Of course I would be concerned about my loved ones!”

“God’s Word says that everyone is interested in their OWN lives, not other people’s.”

“Where does it say that?”

“In Philippians 2.”

“I’ll have to look that up.  What about all of those who have the Holy Spirit?”

This is what one commentator had to say about that particular thought.

…selfishness is natural to all, and Paul’s companions, though Christians, were only partially delivered from it. All men naturally love themselves with all the heart, and soul, and strength, and mind; but they do not love God.
Family Bible Notes

Though the true believer DOES have the Holy Spirit residing in him, he will NOT be a COMPLETED work of God UNTIL he loses his body of sin and enters heaven (upon death).

“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.”
–1CORINTHIANS 15:53-54

The believer does NOT have ALL of God’s Holy Spirit in this life, only a ‘down payment’ (earnest).

“Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.”
–2CORINTHIANS 1:21-22

Which is one reason the true believer STILL fights his on-going conflict with sin IN THIS LIFE.

DOES the reader believe that those who are in heaven are still concerned about the happenings of this life?

WHAT are the reasons behind the reader feeling the way he does?

It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
