VERY occasionally, the various parts of a written piece will be RESEARCHED, ASSEMBLED, and READY-TO-GO–but there is some question in how to put those parts together into one coherent piece.
And so it was with this article.
The things that delight God and exactly HOW God passes the time eternal were ready to be published MORE THAN ONCE–but then, when it came time to put those pieces together IN ORDER, some reason or another always seemed to prevent them from being assembled in a way which would seem to ‘make sense.’
And so, Plan B was consulted and another piece usually seemed to replace the original about God’s delight.
BUT NOT TODAY.
First, a few words about how God passes eternity.
ETERNITY is NOT like whiling away a few moments before your doctor sees you: ETERNITY is FOREVER and EVER.
God ALWAYS has been–and so, God finds the things that endure; that LAST; to help Him ‘get through’ ETERNITY.
Man finds amusement in things which would NOT amuse an all-powerful, all-knowing God.
Man MANY TIMES finds amusement at the expense of others.
Man finds amusement in those things which are “here today, gone tomorrow.”
Rather than mere amusement, God finds DELIGHT in the things of His Creation.
God’s Word tells us what those things of delight are.
And so: here they are: the things which delight God ACCORDING TO HIS WORD.
“But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.”
–Jeremiah 9:24
IF there is a hierarchy to God’s Delight, then ‘lovingkindness,’ ‘judgment’ and ‘righteousness’ are probably at the top of that list.
BUT, there are OTHER things as well.
For instance, God delights in the OBEDIENCE of man.
“And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”
–1SAMUEL 15:22
God delights in the prayer of His followers.
“The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.”
–Proverbs 15:8
God gets delight from all those who FEAR Him and whose hope is in His mercy.
“The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.”
–Psalm 147:11
“He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.”
–Psalm 247:10-11
God also delights in His people.
“For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.”
–Psalm 149:4
God takes delight in the ways of man; the UPRIGHT ways.
“They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.”
–Proverbs 11:20
Yes, OBVIOUSLY the LORD delights in big-ticket items (as expected), but He also finds delight in the SMALLEST of matters.
“A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.”
–Proverbs 11:1
“Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.”
–Proverbs 12:22
God rightly takes delight in the correction and teaching of man.
“For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.”
–Proverbs 3:12
Which is a GREAT reason for the reader NOT to despise the correction of a loving God.
And lastly, God takes GREAT DELIGHT in His ‘Beloved Son’ Jesus Christ.
“Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.”
–Isaiah 42:1-4
“While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.”
–Matthew 17:5-8
THESE are the things in which God delights.
Did ANY of them surprise the reader?
It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
