The followers of Jesus Christ are PROMISED eternal life with the Father and the Son through God’s great mercy and their belief on His Son, Jesus Christ.
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
–John 10:28
YET, those same men who have achieved eternal salvation KNOW that all will NOT be sweetness and life until that day they are awarded eternal life.
God’s Word PROMISES them that they will have their share of affliction and suffering UNTIL that blessed day when they are pronounced safe for all time.
“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”
–1PETER 5:10
Followers of Jesus Christ are PROMISED every type of affliction.
From the physical (persecution):
“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”
–2TIMOTHY 3:12
to the mental affliction of KNOWING there is NO escape from their affliction (tribulation).
“Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.”
–Acts 14:22
HOWEVER, there is several notions which sustain the followers of Jesus Christ during times of trouble and tribulation.
ONE is that IF a person suffers physical suffering for the name of Jesus, he has CEASED to sin.
“Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin”
–1PETER 4:1
IN FACT, the followers of Jesus Christ KNOW that they have ONE item of value to give for their LORD: their lives.
“And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
–Revelation 12:10-11
Perhaps God rewards those who pay the ultimate price for their salvation?
Perhaps God is rewarding the one suffering physical suffering the ULTIMATE REWARD for ‘walking the walk’?
At any rate, the committed follower of Jesus Christ is prepared for those days of suffering one must go through before receiving eternal life.
IS the reader prepared to give up his life for Jesus Christ?
IF the answer is NO, then the reader is not a follower of Jesus.
It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
Make Your Calling and Election Sure: End Times Survival
DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?
Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation
THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
