EVERYONE who has lived has watched AT LEAST one movie.
And practically EVERY movie has AT LEAST one quotable line in it.
So, it was that it was, while perusing UNUSUAL or MEMORABLE movie quotes, that one DISCOVERED the fake, manufactured quality of both 1) movie quotes; and, 2) modern life.
Like most modern lives, movie quotes are little commentaries on a life not lived ANYWHERE but on the screen.
And so, after wading through DOZENS of lists of odd movie quotes, the following were selected because they are–IN SOME WAY–as phony as modern life.
There are several duties the reader may be expected to perform while reading such lists.
1) How many quotes was the reader familiar with that made this list?
2) How many–does the reader agree–reflect the utter falseness of modern life?
3) How many appropriate quotes does the reader feel were NOT MENTIONED?
THE TOP TEN QUOTES
1 “Ogres are like onions.”

2 “You’ve got red on you.”
—Shaun of the Dead
3 “I am Groot.”
—Guardians of the Galaxy
4 “This is Sparta!”
—300
5 “I am gonna kill Bill.”
—Kill Bill Volume 2
6 “You gonna eat your tots?”
—Napoleon Dynamite
7 “Do you know what happens to a toad when its struck by lightning? The same thing that happens to everything else.”
—X-men
8 “With great power come great responsibility.”
—Spider-Man
9 “The wrong kid died.”
—Walk Hard: the Dewey Cox Story
10 “Honey? Where’s my super-suit?”
—The Incredibles
OTHER QUOTES WHICH ALMOST MADE THE LIST
“Rock stars have kidnapped my son!”
—Almost Famous
“Is this your king?”
—Black Panther
“You shall not pass!”
—The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
“Are you not entertained?”
—Gladiator
“I’m finished.”
—There will be Blood
As per the title, each one of these quotes highlights the falseness of the life portrayed in the movie it came from; the story which the movie struggles to present to the movie-goer as part of REAL–not manufactured or contrived–life.
(What does the reader think of the ALMOST-title which was the ‘working’ title of this piece for a LONG TIME: Memorable but Obscure?)
[The title of this piece reflected the ORIGINAL intent of the piece: as a comment on the way movies present their stories AS IF they were true; i.e., part of someone’s REAL LIFE. Instead, we got sidetracked by some quotes from those movies.]
DOES the reader watch a lot of movies?
WHY?
It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
Make Your Calling and Election Sure: End Times Survival
DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?
Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation
