In That Day

IN THAT DAY

IF the reader wants to uncover a LOT of tidbits of information about the last days, he COULD do a search of all verses in God’s Word which contain “…in that day.”

Overwhelmingly, the phrase refers to the day of the LORD’s vengeance against sinners and those who fail to heed the Word of God.

“In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats.”
–Isaiah 2:20

Often, it refers to the day when Jesus Christ returns to earth to institute his FOREVER reign on earth (which is actually the same day).

“And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”
–Isaiah 25:9

BUT, the phrase “…in that day” almost ALWAYS refers to the last days of man on earth before the change in management which is coming.

Passages from God’s Word which contain “in that day” are a TREASURE TROVE of information about the end times that might only be found in those verses.

And so, here are TEN passages which reference “in that day” and which reveal something about the last days of man upon the earth BEFORE it comes under new management.

“Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
–2THESSALONIANS 1:6-10

“But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.”
–Luke 10:10-12

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.”
–Matthew 7:21-29

“And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark: But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light. And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one. All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin’s gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king’s winepresses. And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited. And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour. And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance. And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.”
–Zechariah 14:4-19

“And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, when he hath prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive: But he shall say, I am no prophet, I am an husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.”
–Zechariah 13:3-5

“And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.”
–Zechariah 12:3

“And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day”
–Amos 8:9

“And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.”
–Hosea 2:18

“But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.”
–Jeremiah 39:17

“And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.”
–Isaiah 2:17

There are a great many more passages from God’s Word which reveal end times information to those who seek passages with “in that day” in them.

So many, in fact, that another piece on this topic will be forthcoming–God willing.

[NOTE: It has been a few years since this topic was examined, but NOW seems to be a good time to revisit that information.]

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

Playing the Waiting Game During the End Times

WAITING

Although believers GENERALLY KNOW when the events of the end times take place (because they WATCH), they do not know the exact timing of those events.

“But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.”
–1THESSALONIANS 5:4-10

Therefore, unlike most others, believers (PRIMARILY because they watch) play a WAITING GAME during the end times.

WHEN will the events foretold in God’s Word take place?

Believers depend upon the TRUTH of God’s Word for guidance during the last days.

Because they do NOT believe, UNbelievers are forced to depend upon the various stories of other men. But these stories are untrue and depending upon them for guidance is like steering a car with one’s eyes shut.

Because UNbelievers do NOT heed God’s Word, they are as if they were BLIND.

“Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness. We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.”
–Isaiah 59:1-2,9-10

BUT, because believers take heed, they WATCH as commanded.

“And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”
–Mark 13:37

And, because they watch, believers WAIT for the events they KNOW will take place.

THEREFORE, believers play a WAITING GAME during the end times.

Those men who place NO value on God or God’s Word are forced to stumble about without any guidance.

NOT SO for believers, who are guided by the TRUTH of God’s Word.

DOES the reader have any guidance concerning the events of the last days or is he without faith?

Inflation and Rising Prices

arrow up arrow down

In response to a query a few days ago, this writer has been writing about INFLATION for a LONG time–twelve or thirteen years, to be exact.

NOW, writing about a topic for YEARS is NO sign that what one has written is true.

BUT, in this case, it is.

When then-president Barack Obama began printing dollar bills 24/7 non-stop in 2009, we wrote that the INEVITABLE result would be INFLATION and rising prices.

Less than six months ago, we had this to say

Oh, there is plenty of media attention paid AT THE MOMENT to the rising of prices–which has been ongoing for YEARS.

There is lots of media attention focused on the PAIN and DISCOMFORT such constantly-rising prices bring to those who must pay them.

And, even though prices have been rising steadily over the past 10-12 years, the media pretends that this INFLATIONARY turn of events is VERY RECENT and has JUST begun (clumsily) laying the blame on President Biden.  Though Biden has done NOTHING to stop the 24/7 printing of little slips of paper we call money, the problem began YEARS earlier than Biden’s term.).

What is that one true observation about inflation?

SOME COMPANIES WILL UP THEIR PRICES, regardless of whether their costs are rising or not, AND WILL BLAME THE INCREASE ON “INFLATION.”

In other words, there are a VERY FEW benefits to inflation–mostly to those who prey on the weak-mindeded.

This is due to GREED and OPPORTUNISM.
One True Observation About Times of Inflation

All of this talk about inflation lately has reminded us of something said about twelve years ago.

This writer was a rock-solid heathen who kept his eyes firmly on the things of the world.  One of the things of the world which was paid attention to was INFLATION–because INFLATION is a known component of financial systems.  A well-known financial writer with whom this writer was somewhat acquainted wrote an email IMPLORING this writer to reconsider his stands on INFLATION.

“It’s not inflation we have to worry about: it’s DEFLATION!

The very straight-forward reply?

“When prices start going down, THEN I’ll start writing about deflation.  Until then, prices are rising: that’s a clear sign of inflation.”

It was the LAST email I ever received from that writer.

Which all leads to these TWO latest observations about the phenomenon we call INFLATION. (One observation is very old; another is very new.)

1- Inflation is caused when those who have control of the money, print paper and call it ‘money’ without any corresponding increase in wealth which backs up that paper money. Governments have used various shenanigans about printing paper and calling it money for CENTURIES.

2- “Inflation and rising prices have been a part of everyday American life for YEARS.  Does the reader have any thoughts on WHY the government/media JUST started to recognize this problem over the past year or so–even though the media attributes inflation to many, many NON-reasons?”

HAS the reader noticed any prices rising recently?

DOES the reader have any thoughts as to WHY this might be happening?

WHERE did the reader get his thoughts about inflation?

Is Waiting For End Times Events Harder For Believers or UNbelievers?

MORE DIFFICULT

“Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.”
–Revelation 18:8

While pondering the notion of WAITING FOR END TIMES EVENTS, the secondary question arose: “Is it harder for believers or UNbelievers to wait for such events?”

To sum up, this secondary question proved a bit more perplexing than the topic which spawned it.

At first glance, the answer would appear to be that it harder for UNbelievers to wait for end times events–and this is CLEARLY one of those cases in which one’s initial feelings prove to be true.

The primary reason UNbelievers experience difficulty waiting is that they are, in essence, waiting for events to happen in which they do not believe.  In other words, UNbelievers are waiting for events they believe are only stories and are not real.

Because believer KNOW that God’s Word is TRUTH, they KNOW end times events will unfold EXACTLY as portrayed in God’s Word.

ANOTHER reason UNbelievers experience difficulty waiting is that they are deceived about the world around them.

“And the great dragon…that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world”
–Revelation 12:9

And so, UNbelievers genuinely believe the lies which make up the various stories of the world–which HATES God’s Word–and therefore, does NOT believe the source to be TRUE.

One other reason, UNbelievers have such difficulty waiting: they do NOT believe they are waiting for anything SPECIFIC to happen. When one believes that life is little more than a series of disjointed, chaotic events, the waiting for the next shoe to drop can  seem like a long wait.

SO, the answer to this question all boils down to another question: “Does one have an expectation of those events for which one waits?”

IF there is NO reasonable expectation of a future event happening, then that event is a NON-EVENT.

UNbelievers wait for, what they believe to be, NON-EVENTS.

And ‘waiting for NON-EVENTS’ might prove to be the hardest waiting of all.

One remembers, YEARS AGO, being told: “Whatever your biggest fear, THAT is what you will believe will happen.

This is a little like the circumstance which UNbelievers find themselves in during the end times.

Many UNbelievers will be so deceived, they will COMPLETELY ignore what takes place around them (which would EASILY validate those thing written in God’s Word).

BUT, there are other UNbelievers who will SEE and HEAR and EXPERIENCE those things which they know are from God’s Word–and which will afflict them as their “worst fears coming true.”

MOST PROBABLY the coldest feeling to experience is that feeling of “Oh no!  It really is all true!”  which washes over UNbelievers as they watch events unfold during the last days.

MEANWHILE, they wait…

DOES the reader have a sense of expectancy about end times events?

OR, does the reader believe that the Bible is only a ‘bunch of stories’?

It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
