Selective Memory

MEMORIES

Man is handicapped by his sometimes-SELECTIVE MEMORY.

This is because MOST men find it quite easy for the bad things they do to “slip their mind.”

This is unfortunate because a LOT of men are walking around thinking they deserve a pat on the back for their GREAT behavior–when their behavior is really nothing to write home about. They might have a much better view of their life’s actions  IF they didn’t forget so many of those actions which do not agree with their splendid opinions of themselves.

Another popular way that man is handicapped by his selective memory is his fondness for the STORIES (lies) the world tells him about his surroundings, his everyday life and even his romance.

Man can KNOW that the pretty lies are only stories, but MOST men rather enjoy being told pretty lies about themselves and their lives.

Someone recently had a decent idea.

“If they would invent a camera that records EVERYTHING you do, it would be GREAT!  If there was a disagreement, your camera’s film would settle all arguments about what happened when. Oh, and the camera would have to be discreet: maybe it could be worn behind a person’s ear?”

This line of thinking agrees with the following passage from God’s Word.

“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”
–Revelation 20:12

A GREAT MANY down through the years have speculated that ‘the books’ the verse is referring to are the memories stashed away inside of every man.

Each man may have ‘forgotten’ what actually took place–some may have CONVENIENTLY ‘forgotten’.  BUT, those memories are STILL contained within each man, awaiting the one who created those men and who has the KEY to unlock those memories.

ALL of the preceding is a garment cut from the same cloth: all have to do with the SELECTIVE MEMORIES with which some men are afflicted.

HAS the reader ever caught himself using ‘selective memory’?

It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

Like A Thief In the Night

THIEF IN THE NIGHT

“For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”
–1THESSALONIANS 5:2

“But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.”
–1THESSALONIANS 5:4-7

God’s Word warns (more than once) that the return of Jesus Christ to the earth will be largely unlooked for: “like a thief in the night.”

“But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
–Matthew 24:43-44

“Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.”
–Revelation 3:3

“Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.”
–Revelation 16:15

IF the reader is ‘of the world,’ then that day will overtake the reader “like a thief in the night.”

BUT, if the reader is a follower of Jesus, then that day (of which NO ONE knows the exact date) will not surprise.

Because followers of Jesus are obedient to the command OF JESUS to “Watch.”

“And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”
–Mark 13:37

“Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”
–Matthew 25:13

“For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.  And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”
–Mark 13:34-37

“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
–Matthew 24:42

The followers of Jesus Christ obediently watch for His earthly return–because His followers desire to escape the judgment which awaits all who do NOT watch.

“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”
–Luke 21:36

The followers of Jesus Christ obediently watch for His return–EVEN WHEN (or maybe, because of) the rest of the world makes fun of their watching.

HOWEVER, the followers of Jesus Christ KNOW that Jesus UPON HIS RETURN will settle the hash of the worldly who do believe and therefore, do NOT watch.

IS the reader watching for the thief in the night?

It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

What One Fears Reveals a LOT About That Person

FEAR

“The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.”
–Proverbs 14:27

A LOT can be revealed by who or what a man FEARS.

Is a man mostly motivated by a fear of the things of MAN?

Stories of disease, war, extreme weather, threats from ‘outer space,’ the things bad men do to other men?

THEN, more likely than not, that man is OF THIS WORLD and does NOT fear God.

Fearing those things which are NOT from God leads one down the path of destruction.

“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”
–Proverbs 29:25

OF COURSE, one can warn men all day long: it will take a VERY committed, VERY brave individual to stare down the fears which men can bring to bear and side with Jesus Christ.

HOWEVER, those who fear the things of man will end up in the lake of fire.

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
–Revelation 21:8

THEN, there are those who FEAR GOD.

FEARING GOD is a requirement for eternal salvation.

“By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”
–Proverbs 16:6

FEARING GOD brings a number of benefits–in both this life and the next.

“The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”
–Psalm 34:7

FEARING GOD reveals a man believes God’s Word.

FEARING MAN reveals that a man is deceived.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
–Proverbs 1:7

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
–Proverbs 9:10

“The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.”
–Proverbs 15:33

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
–Proverbs 14:12

Satan’s Mouthpiece (the Corporate Media) spends a GREAT DEAL OF TIME fanning the fires of the FEAR OF MAN.

Satan’s Mouthpiece (the Corporate Media) spends NO TIME at all promoting a fear of God–in which its writers do NOT believe.

The reader may now make a more informed choice: fear God or fear man.

“And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”
–Luke 12:4-5

DOES the reader fear God OR man?

It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

There Is Very Little Wiggle Room With God

WIGGLE

A point which was made the other day had to do with “There’s no wiggle room with God. There’s no arguing.  There’s no negotiations.  You’re either guilty or innocent: there’s no in-between.

And this is TRUE.

Bad or good, true or false, wicked or righteous: something is EITHER one or the other, but NOTHING is both AT THE SAME TIME.

Even the BEST and most accomplished talkers will not be able to change what is white to black.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!”
–Isaiah 5:20-21

At least those men will have NO success with persuading the Perfect Judge to judge them by a softer standard than other men.

The talkers will try and persuade the Perfect Judge that He is too harsh in His judgment of them. But the Perfect Judge has heard it all before.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
–Matthew 7:21-23

How unfortunate that the talker’s talk will fall on deaf ears!

How unfortunate that the talker’s talk is aimed at influencing GOD and NOT man.

MAN is MUCH more forgiving of other men’s sins–mainly because the talkers are men and have done the evil that men fall prey to–particularly during the last days.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
–2TIMOTHY 3:1-5

God will NOT be much interested in a ‘form of godliness.’

God will be interested in RIGHTEOUSNESS, pure and simple.

And the righteousness of God begins and ends with His Son, Jesus Christ.

“For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”
–Romans 10:11

There is no wiggle room with God: either one is guilty OR one is not.

WAS the reader hoping that God would be ‘understanding’ of how hard this world makes it for the average fellow?

WAS the reader hoping that God might allow some ‘wiggle room’?

It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
