“For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.”
A great number of those who wander the powerless churches appear to be perplexed.
On the one hand, they read of the promises of God to his followers.
On the other, they can see that they are bereft of any such favor in their own lives.
Can God’s Word be believed or not?
This is the puzzle which confronts the church folk–as well as others.
HOWEVER, the puzzle is EASILY solved: almost ALL of the wanderers come to God with pretty words on their lips–and little else.
Pretty words are of NO value when dealing with a God who KNOWS the content of a man’s mind and heart.
“I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.”
Other men are mostly fooled by the pretty words of man. Pretty words do NOT fool a God who sees deeper than man does.
“But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”
Those who want the favour of the LORD and who come empty-handed (NO transformed life; NO lifestyle change; NO repentance; NO reason for God to grant his favour according to His Word) expecting the favour of the LORD will leave disappointed.
God’s Word has PLENTY of Scripture about obtaining the favour of the LORD. These extend from seemingly small items to big-ticket ones.
“Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.”
NOW, a good argument could be made that finding a good wife is a SIGN of the LORD’s favour.
“House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.”
Naturally, the LORD favours the RIGHTEOUS.
“For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.”
But the modern might throw up his hands and inquire, “In these times, who can be righteous?”
And the FAVOUR OF THE LORD is not some temporary thing: it lasts and lasts.
“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. “
The apostle PETER shared this bit of wisdom about those whom God accepts.
“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.”
There are definitely ways to obtain the LORD’s favour.
“Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.”
Five people the Bible says found favor in God’s eyes:
- God granted Job favor (Job 10:12).
- Joseph found favor with God and He prospered everything Joseph set his hand to. (Genesis 39:3–4)
- David asked the LORD for His favor several times in the Psalms (119, etc). David was assured of the Lord’s favor.
- Mary, the mother of Jesus was called “the highly favored one” by the angel of God (Luke 1:28)
- Noah found favor with God (Genesis 6:8)
AND, there are definite benefits to obtaining that favour.
“When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”
So, if the reader does NOT have the ‘favour of the LORD’ and wonders how he might go about getting it, the short answer is: follow God’s commandments!
Do NOT come to God with pretty words and a life which contradicts those words.
IF the reader does so, then he will be one of the powerless people.

IF the reader does NOT (for sure) have the favour of the LORD, he should make obtaining that favour his Number One priority.
HAS the reader EVER wondered about the favour of the LORD?
It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?
THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
