“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.”
Man is NOT shy about letting others know that he has BIG PLANS.
Actually, man is NOT shy about letting others know that he has PLANS of ANY SIZE (Big, Little or Medium-sized).
It matters NOT how big or small: the plans could be about a GRAND, NEW BUILDING that’s ‘on the drawing board.’
OR, man’s plans might consist of how he is to take care of his lawn for the next several months.
Man is VERY much consumed by his PLANS.
IF one reads the local newspapers, one will see that EVERY DAY the pages are filled with announcements of man’s plans.
How many of those plans have actually gotten past the planning stage?
Not as many as are announced.
What does God’s Word have to say about man’s many plans?
MOSTLY it declares that man might make a 1000 plans–but it is the LORD who ultimately decides whether those plans are worthwhile and be carried out to fruition.
“There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.”
The LORD determines ALL actions which take place, for good or for bad–even those actions which appear to be pure chance.
“The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.”
The Bible does say how a man’s plans can be made SURE.
“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
“Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
God’s Word also has some good advice for all of those who keep one eye on their neighbors to check how they are doing.
“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.”
HAS any of this made a difference in the reader’s formulation of his plans?
It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?
THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
