The Power in the Name of Jesus

POWER

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
–Ephesians 6:12

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”
–2CORINTHIANS 10:3-5

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
–Hebrews 4:121

Although not many moderns put a lot of faith in God’s Word, when the going gets tough in the last days, it would GREATLY behoove them to do so.

PARTICULARLY, in the power that is in the NAME OF JESUS.

This power was evidenced while Jesus walked the earth almost 2000 years ago.

“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.”
–Luke 10:1,17-20

NOW, the modern may read this and let loose with a small chuckle.

“What nonsense!”

BUT by acting in such a manner, the modern most likely does NOT know he is fulfilling God’s Word.

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
–Psalm 1:1-3

And one thing the modern may want to keep in mind.

When the living is easy and the times appear to be NOT BAD, it is a LOT easier to mock and scoff at those things the deceived mind does NOT understand.

BUT when times are hard and a man if surrounded by the fear and terror of those things he never thought possible, it probably is a good time to begin checking the condition of one’d spiritual weapons.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

RIDICULE: A Powerful Influence

RIDICULE

Though many will deny it, RIDICULE (and being laughed at) is one of the most POWERFUL tools to influence the way opponents think.

RIDICULE is a POWERFUL TOOL unless the one being ridiculed is sure of himself or his position.

Ridicule is a normal tool for all those who mock and scoff.

“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”
–2PETER 3:3-4

“How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.”
–Jude 1:18

It all boils down to KNOWING that God’s Word is TRUE–the ONLY truth to be found in this deceived world.

IF the reader KNOWS that for a CERTAINTY, then he will handle ridicule just fine.

Commemorating the Last Days

REMEMBRANCE

Every once in a while, a person will encounter a question which is UNIQUE.

The question–which was NOT particularly noteworthy and was rather run-of-the-mill–stood out because it was the FIRST TIME such a question had been asked–at least that this writer was aware.

“You talk a lot about the end times.  Are you going to be celebrating when they finally get here?”

At first, the question provoked a response which CLARIFIED the question.

“You must mean THE LAST DAYS.”

And then, the question itself was addressed.

“Celebrating?  Nah, I don’t think so.  What’s to celebrate?”

“You think Jesus is coming back.  Aren’t you going to celebrate that?”

“Well, the Bible says that there will be times when the occasion is celebrated.  But that is AFTER the last days…when Jesus is actually back on earth and in control of things.”

“And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.”
–Revelation 19:5-9

“So you WON’T be marking that time as something special?”

“Well, no–at least I don’t think so.  I think that all believers will be sorry that so many others–who may have been “nice” or “helpful” or “friendly”–end up in the lake of fire. That’s kinda sobering.”

“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
–Revelation 20:15

“After all of the grief you’ve suffered, there wouldn’t be the least urge to say “I told you so”? “

“You either believe God’s Word to be TRUE–or not.”

And that pretty much ended that conversation which had begun with a question which was quite UNIQUE.

HAS the reader ever wondered about whether he will mark the last days in some way?

It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
