Heaven?

To the one who has DILIGENTLY STUDIED God’s Word, it may appear odd that the Bible has VERY little to say about Heaven–which appears to be the GOAL of every follower of God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

NOT ONLY does the Bible have little to say about the place which as been called, “The throne room of heaven,” Jesus Christ–when he was on earth the first time, ALSO had VERY little to say about it.

BOTH God and Jesus were MUCH more outspoken of the OTHER place one may choose for his final resting place.

“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”
–John 14:2

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
–Revelation 21:4

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
–1CORINTHIANS 2:9

“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.”
–Revelation 22:1-5

These are the particularly noteworthy passages about heaven written in God’s Word.

There are a few additional REVEALING details.

“And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”
–Revelation 21:25,27

There are a FEW additional Bible verses which refer to SOME aspect of heaven, but not many.

Why is this?

PERHAPS, God wishes to remain mostly quiet about his base of operations?

PERHAPS, because each man finds what is ‘heavenly” to be different?

PERHAPS, God wanted to give the industrious reader something to work on?

PERHAPS, God wanted man to concentrate on the gospel instead of where the gospel leads?

PERHAPS, the idea is for the reader to supply his own line of speculation on the subject?

PERHAPS…

WHY does the reader believe that man–and not only MAN, but God’s Word–spends much more time on the torments of hell rather than the pleasures of heaven?

It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
