“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”
–Luke 21:36
God’s Word declares (several times!) the importance of staying alert and keeping WATCH during the end times.
“And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”
–Mark 13:37
“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
–Matthew 24:42
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”
–Ephesians 6:18
“For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.”
–1THESSALONIANS 5:2-10
This insistence to ‘Watch’ for the return of Jesus Christ is for believers. Those who believe the Word of God KNOW that Jesus WILL return to earth during the climax of human history, as well as how important a heightened sense of awareness will be for believers to evaluate all of the events of that crucial time period.
Believers will be watching because believers BELIEVE.
UNbelievers will be, no doubt, either ignoring the very clear signs of the times OR they will be telling themselves those signs mean NOTHING.
UNbelievers will NOT be watching for the return of Jesus Christ because UNbelievers do not believe God’s Word.
UNbelievers will therefore be SHOCKED when events foretold thousands of years ago come to pass.
SO, there will basically be two groups of people during the last days of the end times: the SHOCKED and the WATCHERS.
It will require the heightened sense of awareness which KNOWING that the Word of God is TRUE brings to the believer.
The UNbeliever will lack this heightened sense of awareness and will therefore, be SHOCKED to find events unfold EXACTLY as foretold.
And for all of those who play the “wait-and-see” game?
That group is unbelieving–and so, that group will be SHOCKED as well–though they might think that “wait-and-see” is a clever method of hedging their end times bets.
WHAT does the reader believe about the last days and WATCHING?
It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
