Nooks and Crannies of God’s Word

NOOK

Several days ago, someone reminded of something which was supposedly said the week before.

“You know, since we had that little chat about taking God’s name in vain, I have tried not to do it.”

NOW, a conversation WAS recalled about ‘idle talk.’  But NONE was remembered about ‘taking the LORD’s name in vain.’

As Jesus Christ Himself said:

“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”
–Matthew 12:36-37

THIS was the verse which sparked that discussion which was recalled by that person.

Perhaps the person believed (rightly) that taking the LORD’s name in vain is an especially toxic form of ‘idle talk’?

“Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.”
–Exodus 20:7

IN FACT, the warning against ‘idle talk’ is something that could have come out of one of the nooks and crannies of God’s Word: something that is not generally known about the particulars.

Especially by those who do not spend much time in God’s Word.

There are other thoughts which could have come out of these nooks and crannies of God’s Word.

And so, what follows are a few of these thoughts.

“I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.”
–Romans 14:14

And so, to a person who believes an action is SIN, it is SIN to that person to do that action.

A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.”
–Ecclesiastes 10:19

Money DOES solve a lot of problems–particularly when one is a heathen.

“As a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion. “
–Proverbs 11:22

Mostly EVERYONE knows that good-looking girl who cheapens her looks with her behavior.

[There are MORE such passages from God’s Word.  God willing, these additional passages may find their way into a future piece on the topic.]

WAS the reader familiar with any of the quoted Bible verses?

It is not YET too late: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
