“Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?”
–Amos 5:20
IF one believes the Word of God, then one has to believe the end times are very dark, both spiritually and physically.
IF one does NOT believe the Word of God, then one has already descended into that darkness.
Woe!
God’s Word is NOT reticent about how the end times will be.
“Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.”
–Amos 5:18-19
Darkness will be one of the ways the reader will be able to ascertain that the day of the LORD is fast approaching. (‘The day of the LORD’ was what God’s Word often calls the day Jesus returns to earth.)
“Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. “–Joel 1-2
So, the time surrounding the return of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, to earth will be a time of darkness.
There are MANY indications this darkness is spiritual. We will provide just one example.
“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
–Revelation 13:4,8
How deceived do men have to be to worship Satan and his beasts instead of the CREATOR of ALL, God?
However, God’s Word is clear: the WHOLE WORLD will worship Satan (the dragon) EXCEPT for those whose names are written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundations of the world.
The spiritual darkness comes first.
Just in case ANYONE missed it, physical darkness–which signifies what happened previously: what has happened spiritually–comes later.
“The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.”
–Zephaniah 1:14-16
Do NOT mistake the physical darkness of the end times for a strange bit of unusual weather!
The end times are a time of GREAT darkness.
IS the reader prepared to face a time of darkness?
It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
—1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
