Thanksgiving Day is Fast Approaching

First Thanksgiving

[Originally published: November 21, 2022]

The day when Americans SUPPOSEDLY give thanks for their many blessings throughout the year is only FOUR days away.

Thanksgiving Day 2022 is fast approaching and will be here before one knows it.

Although Thanksgiving was originally promoted as a day for giving THANKS, the focus of the holiday soon morphed into quite a different one.

SHOPPING (the spending of money to buy gifts for the upcoming Yule season), HUNTING (as in the start of various state hunting seasons usually opens during the week of Thanksgiving), FOOTBALL (as in watching professional football games or perhaps attending local high school football games [usually state playoff contests]), FAMILY(as in gathering the family together), FOOD (as in let’s make a HUGE meal and invite the whole family over to eat), FUN! (as in Wheeeeeee!)…

The list of things to substitute for what to do when the minute or two of thanksgiving is finished, is almost endless.

And that is where we stand on Thanksgiving today in 2022.

We ‘give thanks’ for MAYBE a minute.

We do ANYTHING ELSE the rest of the day.

For example, instead of giving thanks for what we have, the media runs stories of someone fighting someone else’s grandma for the latest toy.

OR, to save $10 on a plasma TV.

But no matter, Thanksgiving Day 2022 IS fast approaching.

IS the reader ready for it?

WILL the reader give thanks for more than a minute?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
