Why Does the Believer Warn Those Who Are Deceived And Who Do NOT Believe?

shrug, confused

It is a rare occasion INDEED whenever there is more than one topic to write about.

Today was one of those RARE occasions.

There was Thanksgiving (yesterday), Thanksgiving weekend (we’re in the midst of it), the MANY forms of demonic power which are displayed (but which are NOT attributed), the world provides NO resting places for end times believers, and so on and on and on…

As was already mentioned, this is a RARE occurrence to be sure.

So it was that the the subject of this piece was picked over all of the other possibilities.

Warning the unbelieving world is a never-ending-but-not-very-successful task–especially during the end times when the world has pretty much settled into its unbelieving, deceived ways.

So, IF the world is not open to hearing warnings of danger (and it’s not), why does the believer persist in doing it?

The NUMBER ONE REASON for warning a world which is NOT that interested in saving itself from the coming destruction is GOD COMMANDS IT.

And the end times are not a particularly good time for believers to be disobeying God.

“And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, ye shall even warn them that they trespass not against the LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not trespass.

“Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.”
–Ezekiel 3:17-19

So, it’s VERY CLEAR that we’re to warn a world which does NOT particularly desire to be warned of its coming destruction.  This circumstance was also referred to in God’s Word.

“Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.”
–Jeremiah 6:17

The danger being warned about is two-fold: PHYSICAL danger and SPIRITUAL (eternal) danger.

God is VERY clear on the matter.

“And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.  I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.”
–Isaiah 13:11-13

A secondary reason is that, as faithful agents of a LOVING Creator, we are to do our very best to carry out the wishes of our Creator.

God does NOT want any man to fall into the eternal torments of hell.

“I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.”
–Luke 15:7

“Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live? When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die. Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. ecause he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.”
–Ezekiel 18:23,26-28

Because God loves His creation so, then shouldn’t we do the same?

Additionally, the believer should NOT want anyone to suffer an ETERNITY of torment and suffering.

“The soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
–Ezekiel 18:20

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
–Revelation 21:8

All of the above (and more) are reasons for the believer to warn an unbelieving world of it coming destruction–EVEN IF that world does NOT want to be warned.

The believer realizes that he was once deceived (as is the world and those who live in it).  He KNOWS that he would STILL be deceived IF NOT FOR THE GREAT AND UNFATHOMABLE MERCY OF GOD.

And he would be paying a HEAVY eternal price for that being deceived.

And THAT is a FINAL reason for warning a world who mocks such warnings.

DOES the reader heed the warnings from God’s Word?

OR, does the reader believe they are just words?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
