Christmas 2022 was yesterday on Sunday.
Therefore, we are taking this opportunity to take ONE FINAL LOOK BACK at Christmas 2022: what was different about this Christmas (if anything); how this Christmas compared to other Christmases in recent memory; was Christmas 2022 a hotbed of traditional rituals OR was it a jumping off point for something new?
1- TRADITIONALLY, the day after Christmas is most usually called “the day after Christmas.”
Christmas 2022 is no different in this regard.
2- EVERY family, it seems, has one member who is absolutely fascinated with the latest gadget, gizmo or doohickey–and who is VERY anxious to pass along to other members of that family information on that product which, they hope, will prove to be JUST THE ITEM that person was looking for.
3- 2022’s ‘Doohickey of the Year’ is believed to be the ‘Angel View‘ rearview mirror attachment for one’s car.
This mirror is advertised to be a mirror attachment which ‘eliminates blind spots.’ Not so sure about all of that, but the promise WAS made to inform the gifter IF the Angel View was worth the $9.99 she paid for it.
After attaching it (and then ADJUSTING it), the verdict is YES.
The Angel View is a MUCH WIDER rear view mirror than is normally provided with a car. Don’t know much about the ‘eliminates blind spots’ claim, but it is a mirror which is actually a mirror. That is, it is made from REAL glass and lets one see MORE of the road when one looks into it.
It takes a little getting used to because SOME vehicles seem further away than is normal.
BUT, the verdict is: “Yes, it is worth the $9.99 asking price.”
4- This Christmas (2022) appeared to be more CHRISTMAS-LIKE.
Because there were kiddies and grand-kiddies running around celebrating what kids celebrate about Christmas Day.
Though these children were present during previous Christmases, they were more SEDATE and LESS celebratory than 2022. Therefore, 2022 seemed ‘more Christmas-ey.’
5- IF one is interested in the end times, then one usual practice is to evaluate the past year based on events which did or did not happen. (This evaluation mostly occurs either 1) AT Christmas time because Christmas comes around EVERY year; 2) shortly after Christmas time because that comes around EVERY year and there’s usually a bit more free time available for evaluating; and, 3) sometime during the next week (the week between Christmas and New Year’s–because that occasion happens EVERY year AND it’s at the END of the year (which makes it convenient).
6- Christmas 2022 marks a number of end times events WHICH MAY occur in the VERY NEAR FUTURE.
Can the reader speculate what these events might be?
7- The 2022 Evaluation is not finished YET.
The early verdict is that Christmas 2022 MIGHT BE the last one the reader judges to be ‘normal.’
This is for a variety of reasons, all of which will be outlined in a future (hopefully) piece.
AND THAT, is what we see when we take a look back at Christmas 2022.
(Of course, God’s Word has the FINAL WORD on all of this looking back.
“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
So, all of this ‘looking back’ may just be an exercise in futility…)
DOES the reader have any thoughts on this matter?
It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
DOES the reader believe he is NOT saved?
THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
—1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
