“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”
–2CORINTHIANS 10:3-5
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
–Ephesians 6:12
Recently, a bit of thought was put forth on the notion that we so often fight against Satan using HIS weapons, NOT God’s. This seems to be a recipe for disaster, particularly during the last days.
So, why do we do this?
Even though God’s Word advises the believer to use the things of God, a person has so much more experience using the things of this world–which are the tools of Satan.
Because most have so much more experience using carnal (things of this world) weapons, we naturally resort to those carnal things when we square off against the workers of iniquity.
SO, the million-dollar questions seems to be: “Can you win fighting Satan with the devil’s weapons?”
The answer seems easy enough: not likely–at least on the face of it.
Satan controls so many of the things of this world which are used to warn others about him. The press and media are called Satan’s Mouthpiece for a good reason.
One BIG reason Satan moved YEARS ago to control the educational process is because he knows control of education makes his job easier.
ALL of the world’s authorities gain their power from Satan, including the Grand Muckety-Mucks who rule the churches.
IF one is to fight against Satan and his workers SUCCESSFULLY, then one HAS to use the weapons of God.
God’s Word tells us what those weapons are.
DEFENSIVELY:
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
–Ephesians 6:10-12
Indeed we do WRESTLE against these wily opponents.
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”
–Ephesians 6:13-18
BUT, what about when the believer feels he has to go on the offense?
What then?
FIRST of all, it appears necessary to remind the believers that believers BELIEVE in the Word of God–and so do not often have to resort to the violence which often comes their way.
When He last walked the earth, Jesus provided a great example of that.
As Jesus told Pilate (the Roman governor of Jerusalem):
“Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee? Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above”
–John 19:10-11
BUT, the odd occasion when it does become necessary to take the offensive, the believer has the name of Jesus, as well as the eyes of God on him as a comfort. He also has the aforementioned “sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
This has been a reminder that the weapons of a believer’s warfare are NOT carnal.
Do NOT battle Satan using his weapons. It may be difficult to remember in the heat of the battle.
It may be difficult to NOT ‘fight fire with fire’ (as we are told by the world to do so often).
It may seem counterintuitive,
BUT the results will prove to be outstanding.
As well as agreeing with what is written in God’s Word.
HAS the reader ever thought about what he uses to battle the devil?
HAS the reader ever thought about whether what he uses to battle the devil is EFFECTIVE or not?
It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
—1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
