Ten Quotes About Satan

QUOTH THE DEVIL...

The devil (Satan) has a LOT of human admirers.

Satan also has a number of folks who collect saying by and about him.

Because these people are DECEIVED, you see.

Here are some quotes concerning the original prince of darkness himself: Satan.

“Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.  And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.”
–Job 1:6-11

NOT merely a quote, but the preceding five verses set up the entire premise of the Book of Job.

It is pretty amazing how flippant a man can be IF he does not face Satan AT THE MOMENT.  The French philosopher, Voltaire, demonstrated this while waiting to die.

“Now, now my good man, this is no time to be making enemies.”
(Upon his deathbed, Voltaire replied in response to a priest asking him that he renounce Satan.)”

BUT, Voltaire was not alone.

“We may not pay Satan reverence, for that would be indiscreet, but we can at least respect his talents.”
Mark Twain

“It is to erase the fixed smiles of sleeping couples that Satan trained roosters to crow at five in the morning.”
Tom Robbins

“But who prays for Satan? Who, in eighteen centuries, has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it most?”
Mark Twain

Mark Twain, it seems, had a LOT to say about Satan–though Twain thought about man’s greatest enemy as a sort of misunderstood human. Others were a little more grounded.

“I do not fear Satan half so much as I fear those who fear him.”
Teresa of Avilia

“Satan’s greatest success is in making people think they have plenty of time before they die to consider their eternal welfare.”
John Owen

“Satan is so much more in earnest than we are–he buys up the opportunity while we are wondering how much it will cost.”
Mark Twain

“Anyone who tells you to deny yourself is from Satan.”
Paula White

“Why worry about minor little details like clean air, clean water, safe ports and the safety net when Jesus is going to give the world an “Extreme Makeover: Planet Edition” right after he finishes putting Satan in his place once and for all?”
Arianna Huffington

IF one is writing about topics which could ‘go either way,’ it’s easy to see why Satan attracts so much attention: Satan (the dragon) is the original slippery character.

“For Satan always finds some mischief for idle hands to do.”
Isaac Watts

So, there it is: TEN quotes (mostly) about the wicked prince of this world–plus one BONUS quote.

Heck, make it TWO bonus quotes.

″… every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception.”
Mark Twain

WHAT does the reader have to think about all of this?

DOES the reader KNOW that Satan is real and is an enemy of man?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
