How One Gets Along During the Last Days Depends (Somewhat) on Whether One is a Realist, a Pessimist or an Optimist?

HALF-FULL?
Half-empty, Half-full or just enough?

A recent conversation–short and sweet–brought a notion to mind to think on.

“Will it make any difference if one is pessimistic, optimistic or a realist during the end times?”

Someone mentioned that they thought it might be a bit easier IF one keeps good thoughts near him.

“You know, almost anything anyone does, it’s a little easier on them if they look on the bright side of a problem.”

“Including the perplexities which will arise during the last days?”

“In case you didn’t understand what I said before, I’ll repeat it.  Almost anything ANYONE does, it’s easier if they look on the bright side of things.”

“Oh, I understood you.  I’m just trying to think if I AGREE with you or not.”

“What’s not to agree? You don’t think that someone’s time is easier spent if they are optimistic?”

“No, I’m the original optimist.  I just haven’t made up my mind on whether you’re right or full of hot air as usual.”

And that is where that particular line of discussion ended–for the time being.

As was previously mentioned, this topic led one to do some research on the matter.

According to one survey–IF one believes in such gauges–Americans are the LEAST optimistic of all nationalities (American Pessimism: Only 6 Percent Think the World Is Getting Better).

The most optimistic?

The Chinese, of whom 41% believe that the world is getting better. Almost one-fourth of Indonesians (23%) think that the good times will roll and 16% of Saudi Arabians think it’s gonna get better.

The USA’s 6% STILL leads Great Britain and Germany (4% a piece) and Australia and France, bringing up the rear with 3% each.

NONE of this helped answer the ORIGINAL QUESTION–but it was interesting.

Trading on personal experiences, an old optimist (who became a REALIST when he learned of all of the world lies on the basics) would say that as long as you have to walk past a graveyard, you might as well whistle a happy tune.

FINALLY, after a few more hours of reading, it was decided that one will operate better IF one’s chances MATCH one’s expectations.

Oh, there’s room for disagreement on the point–and some will be expected next time the topic is taken up by the individuals responsible for the discussion in the first place.

In the meantime, WHAT does the reader believe about the matter?

DOES the reader have any new or ORIGINAL thoughts on the topic?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

False Sin?

An interesting discussion was held a few days ago and it was decided to share it with readers.

The conversation ULTIMATELY BEGAN trying to answer the question, “When is sin not a sin?”

The topic revolved around the concept of “false pride.

False pride: An exaggeratedly high or pretentious opinion of oneself, one’s abilities, or one’s circumstance that is not based on real achievement or success.

(BECAUSE no Internet access was available at the time, the above definition of ‘false pride’ was not used.)

ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, someone jumped into the battle DEFENDING ‘false pride’ and claiming it was NOT a sin.

“You’ve said it hundreds of times: pride is a sin.  But ‘false’ means ‘not true.’ SO, ‘false pride’ is not even pride.

Therefore, it’s not even a sin!”

“Well, ‘false pride’ IS a sin because ‘false pride’ IS pride (which is a sin). It’s pride which is almost totally focused on the person making all of the noise (whatever that may turn out to be.)”

“You HAVEN’T convinced me.  ‘False pride’ is not even pride.  I think that fairly clear by calling it ‘false pride.’”

“We will have to get a good definition of ‘false pride’ and THEN this conversation can continue.”

“Okay, but it sounds like you’re trying to weasel your way out of this mess!”

“We need a good dictionary.”

“I need a drink!”

And THERE is where the conversation is at this very moment.

WHAT does the reader think about all of this?

IS ‘false pride’ the sin of pride OR NOT?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

The Devil’s Toolbox

TOOLBOX

“But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.”
–James 3:8

Men do well to be wary of Satan the devil.

“And the great dragon…that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world”
–Revelation 12:9

Satan WAS created an angel: a being who is a higher order than man.

“Thou madest him [man] a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands”
–Hebrews 2:7

“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?  For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.”
–Psalm 8:4-5

As such, Satan is MUCH more intelligent and crafty than the ordinary man.

IN FACT, Satan (the devil) gets MOST of his power through his mouth: his words.

Satan is a NOTORIOUS liar.  He CANNOT be trusted.

Though his words may appear to be one way, they often are the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what men take them to believe.

Satan is a liar–where he gets most of his power–and is a murderer.  That the devil does not have the slightest regret over transgressing God’s commandments–this gives the devil another portion of his power.

When Jesus was last on earth, he KNEW Satan’s methods.

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. “
–John 8:44

Though the world is FULL of pretty stories about man ‘outsmarting’ the devil, the REALITY is MUCH different.

So man is right to be WARY of Satan.

BUT, to be wary and aware is NOT the same as being scared senseless.

Man should realize that Satan’s power resides mostly in his tongue–and the tongue is as wicked as Satan.

“And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.”
–James 3:6

THEREFORE, man should NOT bandy words with Satan.

Man should NOT ‘negotiate’ with Satan.

Man should NOT even TALK to Satan.  Why should he?

What is to be gained?

NOTHING.

Words are in Satan’s wheelhouse:  a person who talks to the devil is a person who is asking for WOE.  Men–no matter how much pride and hubris a man may have–are NO match for the devil when it comes to WORDS.

Satan is limited as to where his powers really lie: the devil’s toolbox mostly contains one VERY effective tool.

WORDS are the devil’s toolbox: Satan accomplishes MUCH wickedness using his tools: his words.

ALL would do well to remember that.

Let this warning serve as a friendly reminder.

DOES the reader EVER wonder where Satan’s powers lie?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

When Satan Resorts To Mockery

MOCKERY

“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”
–2PETER 3:3-5

” But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.”
–Jude 1:17-18

Though it may be DIFFICULT to remember when one is beset on all sides by the world’s MOCKERY, one should remember that old childhood rhyme:

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will NEVER hurt me.”

NOW, words DO have the power to hurt and wound a body.

BUT, words ONLY have the power the listener gives to them.

IF the listener pays NO heed to those words, those words are essentially, POWERLESS.

THEREFORE, when the devil and his workers of iniquity come mocking–and they will–the reader would do well to NOT give their words any power.

In other words, do NOT pay any attention to what they are saying.

NOW, this is advice which MANY mothers over the years have given their children, but it is TRUE.

The ‘antidote’ to mockery may just be that old childhood taunt:

I know you are but what am I?

Whether that old taunt is true or not highlights who has the POWER when one begins mockery of another.

IF the mocking words are given any credence, THEN they have the power the mocker intended: the power to wound; the power to sting.

On the other hand, IF the mocking words are mostly IGNORED, then they do NOT have the power intended by the mocker.  They are only words and ONLY have the power given to them by the one being mocked.

Something to remember when Satan–and the world–comes mocking.

WHAT does the reader believe about mocking?

IS mockery terrible–or not-so-bad?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
