False Sin?

An interesting discussion was held a few days ago and it was decided to share it with readers.

The conversation ULTIMATELY BEGAN trying to answer the question, “When is sin not a sin?”

The topic revolved around the concept of “false pride.

False pride: An exaggeratedly high or pretentious opinion of oneself, one’s abilities, or one’s circumstance that is not based on real achievement or success.

(BECAUSE no Internet access was available at the time, the above definition of ‘false pride’ was not used.)

ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, someone jumped into the battle DEFENDING ‘false pride’ and claiming it was NOT a sin.

“You’ve said it hundreds of times: pride is a sin.  But ‘false’ means ‘not true.’ SO, ‘false pride’ is not even pride.

Therefore, it’s not even a sin!”

“Well, ‘false pride’ IS a sin because ‘false pride’ IS pride (which is a sin). It’s pride which is almost totally focused on the person making all of the noise (whatever that may turn out to be.)”

“You HAVEN’T convinced me.  ‘False pride’ is not even pride.  I think that fairly clear by calling it ‘false pride.’”

“We will have to get a good definition of ‘false pride’ and THEN this conversation can continue.”

“Okay, but it sounds like you’re trying to weasel your way out of this mess!”

“We need a good dictionary.”

“I need a drink!”

And THERE is where the conversation is at this very moment.

WHAT does the reader think about all of this?

IS ‘false pride’ the sin of pride OR NOT?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
