“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
–Romans 3:10-12
God’s Word is not shy about proclaiming the shortcomings of God’s creation of man.
There is NOT one man who is any good.
“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
–Psalm 14:1-3
“For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works. Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.”
–Psalm 33:4,13-15,18-19
“The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.”
–Psalm 10:4
Though there is NO debate about whether God considers his creation (man) to be the least little bit of GOOD.
YET, so many moderns seem to have a difficult time believing they are not ‘good people.’
Why is this?
Why is there such a wide chasm between what God’s Word informs man about his fallen state and what man himself believes about himself?
There are several reasons the average man thinks he is a ‘good person.’
1- Man compares himself to other men. Most of the time, these other men are not so good. Therefore, man looks like he is GOOD in his own eyes.
IF man is compared to God–who is HOLY–he doesn’t look so sweet.
2- Man is told (over and over and over again) from an early age how good he is. The media, entertainment, the school system: all have a hand in informing man of his ‘goodness.’
3- EVERYONE wants to be thought of as a ‘good guy’–even serial killers!
EVERYONE can think of the one time they did a good deed while overlooking the dozens of times they committed ‘crimes of omission‘–or worse.
These are only a few of the reasons moderns have such a hard time believing they are NOT good. IF the reader does a bit of thinking on the topic, he most probably will discover many more.
DOES the reader believe he is a ‘good person?”
DOES the reader believe that God’s Word is being a bit harsh or UNREALISTIC in declaring ALL men to be NO good?
It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
—1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
