Depending Upon God Requires a LOT of Practice

PRACTICE

MANY are the multitudes who think they can switch their dependence from man to God just like that.

That God’s Word has to keep reminding man of God’s TOTAL protection and reliance is CONSTANT to those who sincerely place their trust in the LORD is a sign that MANY men do not quite believe that they can trust God.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
–Proverbs 3:5

“Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.”
–Psalm 37:3

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”
–Psalm 34:19

So, the LORD will provide and take care of His own–whoever they end up being.

BUT, a meek and total dependence on God is NOT something that one can switch off and on like a light in a room.

It takes some practice–particularly IF one is used to depending on his fellows, his business organizations or his government.

His fellows (no matter how well-prepared they are for hard times), his business organizations (which are run by FALLIBLE man) or his government (how reliable does the reader believe his government is in the BEST of TIMES?): they ALL will DISAPPOINT those who place their trust in them during the last days.

So, HOW does one ‘practice’ depending on the LORD?

NUMBER ONE – Do not wait until the last moment.

This is a surefire recipe for disaster.

There will certainly be enough to occupy the minds and time of those living during the end times.

Use the time you have left to PRACTICE relying on God–instead of all of those other entities one usually relies on–is VITAL and NECESSARY.

NUMBER TWO– Do not expect INSTANTANEOUS results from your reliance on God.

God works on HIS schedule, NOT yours.

(There are other reasons for NOT answering urgent prayer immediately.  God willing, we’ll turn that into an end times article.)

Regardless, the reader should realize that not all his requests will be answered immediately.

(This is one reason believers are to WAIT ON GOD. God’s Word is NOT shy about this circumstance.)

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”
–Psalm 27:14

“And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”
–Isaiah 25:9

“Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.”
–Proverbs 20:22

NUMBER THREE– Once upon a time, a coach once told his players, “Practice makes perfect.”

THEN, someone told the coach, “You have that WRONG.  Practice doesn’t make perfect: perfect practice makes perfect.”

Regardless of whether that man who advised the coach was correct or not, do not wait to practice dependence on God.

The reader need live his life depending on God: for big things, for little things, for ALL things.

START NOW!

He will be surprised at how easy it becomes.

Depending upon the LORD is NOT an automatic circumstance: it requires PRACTICE in order to perfect it.

The reader should NOT wait: he should practice ‘practicing.’

There are many more reasons to not wait until the last moment to practice relying on God.

CAN the reader think of any more?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
