How many times has the reader seen one of the youth play with their smartphone to demonstrate how all-knowing and comfortable with the latest technology he is?
Holding up a phone (created by man from plastic and glass) as a demonstration of knowledge is a form of FLIPPANCY.
lacking proper respect or seriousness
This topic arose when a young member of the family (who showed his lack of seriousness about the chaos and confusion of the end times) pointed to his EVER-PRESENT phone.
“There won’t be any power? My phone is always charged up. I’ll play games until the power comes back on.”
There are a NUMBER of flaws in this line of thinking. To point them all out would likely take more time than is fruitful.
ONE HUGE ITEM that youth should bear in mind: His phone will NOT ‘always be charged up’ IF there is NO POWER for quite some time.
What will the youth do then?
What if no games can be played (or other modern distractions accessed) because games require electricity to be played?
BUT, to begin with: a resort to FLIPPANCY is NOT a demonstration of wisdom and knowledge.
The lesson (if any exists)?
Do NOT be flippant and less-than-serious about those times which one has not YET experienced.
(The urge to be less-than-serious is a STRONG ONE among the disbelievers WHEN TIMES ARE GOOD and their situations are ‘normal.’)
DOES the reader agree with the youth in this piece?
OR, does the reader disagree?
It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
