Because many of the conversations logged at this website revolve around CHRISTIANITY and the various tenets of that faith, we supposed it might be interesting to pose a number of questions to a heathen acquaintance.
We were NOT disappointed–though we did NOT agree, of course, with many of the beliefs the man gave us.
The discussion only lasted about ten minutes, but a LOT of information we did not previously know was exchanged.
The discussion went a little like this.
“So you believe in reincarnation? I mean you REALLY do believe in that story?
“Absolutely. Reincarnation is a return to Godhead for us.”
“So you don’t see it as a long, long series of do-overs?”
“Not at all. You see, each person’s memory is wiped clean after each life here on earth. No one remembers their previous lives.”
“So, it’s not a do-over if you can’t remember it?”
“If you have no memory of what happened in a previous life, there can be no “do-over”, as you call it.”
“Okay.”
“And you do not have to return after your life is lived as a person. You might come back as a snail or a bird.”
“Or, as one of those flies which buzz around your head in the summer?”
“You could come back as a fly. It all depends on how well you’ve lived your last life.”
“I’m not really the one to be answering all of these questions, anyway.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’m tired and not thinking as clearly as I should to be to have this conversation.”
“I guess what I wanted to say to you is: IF you don’t get it right the first dozen times, you can always come back for more?!?!”
“NOW, that’s one thing you have to get right!”
“What’s that?”
“You can achieve the height of spiritual perfection the first or second time around. You don’t have to keep trying if you already have it right.”
“I’m not sure I knew that.”
“Most people don’t.”
…And that is how the short–but INTERESTING–conversation came about.
That the man believed in Eastern mysticism was just another shiny bauble for readers to look at while pondering what was said.
[NOTE: ‘Interesting’ is NOT the same thing as ‘correct.’]
HAS the reader EVER considered religions with an Eastern ‘outlook’?
HAS the reader EVER considered CAREFULLY what each was professing?
It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
