The American public was treated–during the 1960’s–to NOT ONE, BUT TWO different TV sitcoms about the funny life lived by monsters.
There was the ADDAMS FAMILY, a fictional TV family based on the creepy New Yorker cartoons of Charles Addams. Best described as “macabre,” the TV series featured the Addams Family along with the butler, Lurch, Cousin Itt and Thing (a hand-in-a-box).
Then, there was the MUNSTERS. The show recreated a number of movie monster motifs, including Fred Gwynn as Frankenstein’s Monster and Al Lewis as a lovable VAMPIRE,Grandpa.
BOTH shows hit American TV screens in the 1960’s: the Munsters running from 1964-66 and the Addams Family for two seasons ’64 and ’65.
Both TV series showed the LOVABLE qualities of the monstrous, with anything else usually being little more than a MISUNDERSTANDING between people of good will.
BOTH series lived on long after their TV debuts, mostly in films, syndication and reunion shows. In this regard, the ADDAMS FAMILY was particularly long-lived.
BOTH shows were parts of the TV propaganda campaigns were have been waged against the American people for years.
CAN the reader guess what themes those shows featured?
It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
