While discussing a host of topics this past week, the mood of the four people involved in the discussion turned somber.
What it was which dampened the group’s mood was the topic being discussed.
The topic?
The shift of the United States from a LAND OF PLENTY to a LAND OF WANT.
There was VERY LITTLE disagreement on whether this desolation had occurred. MOST of the discussion concerned the ‘finer points‘ of the matter.
The discussion began as a question: “How long has it been that you have noticed the USA sliding backwards?”
NO question about whether this ‘sliding backwards’had occurred; only a question asking confirmation that it had happened–and WHEN this was remembered so that it stuck in the person’s memory.
“Couple years.”
“I’ve been writing about it for at least FOUR or FIVE years.”
“Yeah, probably three to five years.”
“That you’ve noticed?”
“Yeah, it COULD have been longer than that, but I’ve been noticing things falling apart for the last three, four or five years.”
“What, in particular, have you noticed?”
“Oh, without a doubt, it’s been the roads. They’re falling apart and they don’t do ANYTHING to fix them!”
“No, it has to be the stores. There’s NO merchandise for sale and what they do have is overpriced and NOT what anybody would want.”
“How many times have I said ‘This is like living in a third-world country!’?”
“If you want anything, you have to order it online. The stores don’t have much anymore.”
“So, you all think that the USA has gone from a LAND OF PLENTY to a LAND OF WANT?”
“Yep.”
“Absolutely!”
“Definitely!”
ANYONE who grew up when the United States was hauling in the world’s things of value in exchange for those little, green slips of paper called dollars has noticed that the USA is NOT favored anymore.
The United States was the wealthiest country EVER. There was a reason for this: an end times reason. The USA is STILL a rich country–just not as rich as it used to be ten or twenty years ago.
Folks who were around ten or twenty years ago have no problem in ticking off the number of things which have changed for the worse.
Has the reader noticed any of these changes?
Or, has the reader told himself, “Things will get better, they always do.“?
As has been detailed, far as that recent discussion went the MAIN points seemed like they were agreed to.
It was only the particulars (how long has this been going on, how can you tell, etc.) which were discussed.
HAS the reader noticed ANY signs of the United States ‘falling backwards?’
DOES the reader believe these failures are due to human error OR does the reader believe they are all signs the United States is in a state of decline?
It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
DOES the reader believe he is saved?
