RANDOM THOUGHTS 19

For RT #18–posted over TEN weeks ago–it was claimed, “This was ALMOST sub-titled “Thoughts you have when you’re not busy thinking about anything else.”
For today’s offering, we will say, “This was ALMOST sub-titled “Thoughts pertaining to the end times and last days.”
ALMOST.
#Never let it be said that ALL pagans clinging to Eastern religions are full of mumbo jumbo.
SOME are surprisingly plain-spoken.
This is mentioned because, visiting the home of a pagan acquaintance (who is the member of a well-known Eastern sect), it was remarked–upon seeing a slickly-produced piece of literature on a coffee table titled “BACK TO GODHEAD” [which was lushly illustrated with painstakingly-rendered artwork]–that one could probably learn something from reading that magazine IF one were so inclined.
“Maybe. IF you read too much of that, it will turn your head to mush.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. You gotta be careful WHAT you read in it.”
Plain-spoken, indeed.
#Upon placing a new set (2) of tires upon one’s car, it was remarked that those two BRAND NEW tires joined a pair–one of which was about TWO WEEKS old and the other which was about SEVEN WEEKS old–which provided the driver with ‘four pretty good tires’ on the car.
A few days later, someone checked the tires to VERIFY what had been said. Their verdict was none-too-reassuring.
“I checked out your tires on the car. The two front tires don’t look that new.”
“I didn’t say they were all new. I said that they were all GOOD tires.”
Upon further inspection–following this hard assessment–it was remarked that “You’re right: all four tires are NOT new. BUT all four tires are ‘pretty good.’”
THAT seemed to satisfy the tire appraiser’s pique because he generally agreed with that statement.
“Yeah, they are pretty good–but they are NOT all new.”
#SOME pagans are hard to impress. THIS is mentioned because the observation was voiced this past week (Like the game show, Jeopardy!, in the form of a few questions)”What will you think when all of the end times events start happening? Will you FINALLY agree that Christianity might know what it is talking about?”
“What am I supposed to be bowled over by? Earthquakes? They’re a dime a dozen… Wars? There has been war since man picked up his first spear. Fire in the sky? Aliens!”
“Nothing I can say will convince you otherwise, it seems.”
“Probably not.”

#How bad will the roads have to get before the workers of iniquity admit the conditions are MORE than the usual result from the USUAL slovenliness of the local highway workers?
#End times’ events appear to be RUSHING toward us AT A GREAT SPEED. This was noticed when it was initially pointed out that a GREAT MANY people have had QUESTIONS about the end times (many of them church folk but some which were not).
It was decided that end times events create doubt and worry among the lost.
Further, this doubt and worry provokes questions about SPECIFIC end times events and whether this is all ‘related?’
OFTEN, this unease–felt by those who KNOW they are NOT RIGHT WITH GOD–manifests its presence in the form of questions.
#One point of general agreement these days–even more so than the weather–is that prices are high and bound to get higher.
It has been a LONG TIME (probably a year or two) since this writer has heard ANY disagreement about high prices. Even then, the disagreements were rather muted.
# EVERYBODY it seems, has their own ideas about the end times.
SOME believe that the end times will take place as it is related WORD-FOR-WORD in God’s Word.
SOME don’t know WHAT TO THINK. They, therefore, pose a LOT of questions about the end times to any who they feel may be able to impart some precise, end times knowledge.
SOME have decided that the events COULD happen. These folks have adopted one of the most DANGEROUS philosophies of “WAIT AND SEE.” What harm, they believe, is there in that common sense approach?
They do NOT realize that such a belief puts them on a soap box for all to see with a sign that says “Look at me: I have NO faith!”
SOME do NOT believe in the end times, and have flat-out refused to believe in God, Jesus or God’s Word.
ALL have their ideas about what will happen, but only one group will be CORRECT.
Are there any guesses as to which group is right?

It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
