To hear two people talk in an animated manner ONCE is a reason to remember what was said.
To hear two OTHER folks talk in a similar manner is a reason to note the conversations.
The first discussion took place in a supermarket checkout line; the second, in a laundromat.
BOTH conversations dealt with the end times–though NONE of the participants used that term or one which was similar.
Though an effort was made NOT to eavesdrop, it was difficult to avoid hearing what each person said.
Of the two conversations, the second was the more SPIRITED of the two.
BOTH discussions began, as near as can be remembered, as commentaries on how the United States was going downhill in a hurry.
NEITHER conversation, as has been pointed out, used ANY end times terminology, though they both discussed events which CLEARLY had to do with the last days.
What gave the discussions their ODD flavor had to do with what was discussed. BOTH people in BOTH locations got into a ‘listing contest.’ This is where both people mention something which seemed to originally come from a list somewhere.
EXAMPLE: ALL involved listed the things they thought were WRONG with the U.S. of A. ALL of the items they mentioned had to do with POLITICS or the POLITICAL REALM.
In fact, BOTH discussions saw their most spirited banter when the conversations moved to whether or not a certain U.S. president STOLE the 2020 election from another former U.S. president.
In the end, it appeared to be decided–by those involved in those conversations–that electoral shenanigans took place and that today’s US president obtained his office in an unjust manner.
Again, what made BOTH conversations a bit ODD was the fact that NEITHER mentioned ANYTHING about God, or Jesus or what is written in God’s Word. Another ODD bit was that so many STORIES of the world–which are NOT true–were used to buttress the arguments of one or the other of the participants.
It was at this point that an INITIALLY uninterested spectator decided that these folks were hopelessly lost (principally because they concentrated so much on the world and the happenings in this world, and the supposed REMEDIES of this world).
FINALLY, it was decided that ALL involved could use some prayers of uninterested onlookers–even IF none would agree to such a PRIMITIVE remedy.
BUT, hope does spring eternal.
Even for those caught up in interesting though odd discussions about the ills of this present world.
HAS the reader ever overheard an interesting but odd bit of talk?
It is not YET too late–although time is surely running out: there is still a LITTLE time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
