REST AND RELAXATION: IN THE BIBLE

God’s Word has a LOT to say about REST–as well as the work which creates opportunities for a rest well-earned.

Relaxation accompanies a well-earned rest–as does that OTHER important word often employed when God’s Word refers to taking a break from one’s work: REFRESH.

When referring to REST, God’s Word VERY FREQUENTLY uses the word REFRESH in the definition.

As in Matthew 11:28-29

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

In the original Greek, the word used for ‘rest’ in Matthew 11:28-29 is anapauó.

Rest, refreshing and relaxation appear to be a few of the REWARDS of well-considered work.

HOWEVER, when the subject is ‘REST and RELAXATION,’ one can have too much of a good thing.

The Bible ALSO has some choice words to say about SLOTH (which is sinful in the eyes of God).  Many of those words are from the Book of Proverbs.

“The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.”

“He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.”
–Proverbs 10:4

“For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.”
–2THESSALONIANS 3:10

“Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise”
–Proverbs 6:6

“By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.”

This examination of REST was brought about by a recent question which was asked.

“Why did God rest after creating the earth and all?  He wasn’t tired; why did he rest?”

No, God certainly did not NEED to rest.

However, since God’s Word is mostly silent on the matter, we are left with speculation as to God’s reasoning behind his rest.

Maybe God took a break to CONSIDER all that He had created?

Perhaps God was taking a rest as an example to man?

Maybe God rested to give Him time to be with His new creation?

ALL is speculation.

What is NOT speculation:

When one takes a break from one’s work, a FEW may consider that the break (or REST) is part of the REWARD FROM GOD for work well-done. REST is one of the fruits of work well-done.

“There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God. “

Rest–and all that comes from that rest–are GOOD, IF the rest is a reward for labor well-done.

Too much rest–or rest and relaxation–WITHOUT work are NOT good.

In fact, rest without work is like eating without hunger: not only is it bad for the person involved, it is SIN.

FIVE YEARS AGO

ADVICE FOR 2017

Advice is USUALLY ignored as fast as it is dispensed.

However infrequently, someone might actually ASK for advice.

The advice for 2017 is the same as the advice for 2015.

Someone recently asked “What do you think will happen in 2015?”

Who can answer that question?

Only the Lord.  HOWEVER, here’s two bits of advice from God’s Word.

First, one that is most appropriate for New Year’s Day–when so many look back at 2014.

“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Don’t look back.

Secondly, a bit of advice all websites allegedly devoted to prophecy might do well to remember.

And those are two good pieces of advice.

Whether the reader considers them or not is an entirely different matter.

Everyone LOVES to hear and see DRAMA, right?

And what is more dramatic than an apparent feud among the beautiful people, right?

Particularly if the “feud” is between celebrities, politicos or royal nabobs?

IN FACT, the rich and celebrated almost never disagree: they engage in feuds–sometimes for decades after they have ceased being celebrated for anything else.

What would the beautiful people do with themselves if not for their never-ending feuds?

Satan’s Mouthpiece (the Corporate Media) has always had a problem: what to do when too many of the rich and celebrated have NOTHING “newsworthy” to do. When the media gets tired of reporting what the rich and celebrated are wearing, they turn to the tried-and-true method of of fake “feuds” to generate cheap, plastic “news.”

One popular singer’s entire marketing campaign over the years seems to have been based on engaging in one “feud” after another. But, as the “victims” appear to be primarily the singer’s “fans,” it’s hard to get too worked up over the ruse.

Sports, politics and celebrity culture, European royalty–wherever the rich and celebrated congregate: these are the arenas where readers can most often find stories of “feuds.”

Oh–and pro wrestling…

One can depend on those who labor for the mystery of iniquity to act, in not only an EVIL manner, but also in a very repetitive one as well.

Case in point: when two followers of Satan are working together, one of the first things they do is establish that they 1-do not like each other; 2- they hate each other; or, 3- are fighting against one another.

Democrats and Republicans, Russia and the USA, members of the same family who toil together for evil ends, famous celebrities who are “feuding” with each other: it happens so often, one occasionally has to wonder, “Does Satan have a university or school where he teaches his followers these tricks?”

One of the more popular of Satan’s lie WHICH IS ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY PROMOTED by the devil’s network of Sunday social clubs called “the churches” is the one about how Satan rules over evil spirits/demons/devils.

Satan is a personal, spiritual being who rebelled against God and leads a spiritual kingdom composed of demonic powers who oppose God’s purposes through various “schemes” that are designed to keep men and women out of God’s kingdom and to render Christians immature and ineffective in reaching the world with the gospel of Christ.

NOWHERE in God’s Word is it written that Satan controls devils/evil spirits/demons.

In fact, quite the opposite is written in Scripture: that these ‘unclean spirits’ come from God, NOT Satan.

This information is VERY IMPORTANT to understand some very basic truths about the end times.

One of these misconceptions took the form of a question several weeks ago.

“Why do demons work for Satan?  Can’t they see the devil is a loser?  Demons are supposed to be a LOT smarter than man.  Can’t demons figure this out?”

It was then explained that demons do NOT work for Satan. Satan has no more control over demons than the average wicked worker of iniquity does.

The story about Satan controlling an empire of evil demons is one that most likely was manufactured and then promoted by one of Satan’s deluded followers.

It is probably more popular than the one about ‘demons being fallen angels.’

NEITHER is true.

Part of the answer to the man who posed the original question a few weeks ago was

“Evil spirits are not stupid. Why work for a loser (the devil)?  Exactly!  Evil spirits do NOT work for Satan. Evil spirits are sent from God Himself.”

THREE YEARS AGO

2019: ANOTHER YEAR BEGINS

2019.

Another year begins.

And while the years are all of the same number of days [ALL contain at least 365 days], the number DOES change each year.

2019 is no different.

Many people look on the beginning of the new year as a time when great, positive changes can take place.

Perhaps.

BUT many circumstances will remain the same as 2018.

Some will grow worse.

It is suspected that the following will remain the same (or grow worse).

1. Continuing to enjoy the world’s applause: urban centers and cities; climate change and climate activists, government at all levels, but especially government at the highest levels; organizations who rule with the force of law but who are not accountable to anyone but the overseers; unity, particularly world unity; the medical and scientific professions; those who are referred to as “talking heads” of Satan’s Mouthpiece.
2. Satan’s Mouthpiece (the Corporate Media) will “report” on the rich and celebrated AS IF they actually were doing something of value.  In this group are the Kardashians, the Mark Zuckerbergs, the Elon Musks, the Miley Cyruses and other assorted media creations who would quickly fade from the public memory without the constant attention paid to their every move by Satan’s Mouthpiece. One way the reader can know he has stumbled upon one of these media creations: the press will “report” daily on this group–even if the “news” consists of the person going to the post office.  The biggest “news” generated by such creations usually has to do with the lack of clothes worn (female) OR the lack of appropriate behavior (male).
3. Occasionally, several “up-and-comers” (very few) are anointed to join the rich and celebrated media creations.  Occasionally, several older or more appropriate of the herd is culled. VERY OCCASIONALLY, one will be promoted, as Donald Trump was when he was selected as US president in 2016.
4. Public life–particularly those who reside in the political arena–will continue to closely resemble the kayfabe of pro wrestling. In this regard, “controversies“–usually caused by name-calling–will continue to grow worse. Name-calling will grow worse: it is the primary way the public can tell the puppets apart.
5. Satan’s Mouthpiece will continue to exalt, honor and promote the things of Satan and the things of the world. This includes the lie that eating is fun and to be greatly valued.  This also includes the elevation of family to the sacred; lifting up the family to a degree which exceeds God Himself.
6. Satan’s Mouthpiece will continue to degrade and mock the things of God.  Jesus Christ will not be named–except as a curse word or to bring reproach onto the name.
7. Prices will continue to climb, even as the public is assured that they are not. A few prices will hold steady until the end (gasoline, milk, bread) while the others keep increasing.
8. The government will continue cutting the “safety net” programs.
9. The government will continue pouring money into the military, even as they cry that the military is “underfunded.”
10. The government will continue to insist the economy is great–until it is blatantly obvious it is not.

So, 2018 is now gone: it seemed to have passed away quickly.

Did the reader feel the past year flew by?

Why or why not?

Before the reader knows it, 2019 will be over and 2020 will begin.

Many reader are curious as to “How much time is left?” before the return of Jesus Christ.

It is ALWAYS appropriate to point out what God’s Word declares on this matter.

“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”

QUESTIONS AND THE ANSWERS THEY SOMETIMES PROVOKE

One assumption–which has certainly picked up steam in the end times–is that ‘question are asked in order to obtain information.’

OCCASIONALLY, this is true–but not always.

SOMETIMES, a question is asked to feign interest in a topic the questioner really had no interest in pursuing.

SOMETIMES, a question is asked in order to demonstrate that the questioner is a good conversationalist.

100 Conversation Questions

SOMETIMES, a question is asked in which an answer to the question is already known OR is not expected.  These types of question are called ‘rhetorical questions.’ Such questions are useful in helping direct a conversation onto paths determined by the questioner.

And SOMETIMES, a question is asked in the attempt to obtain information.

The answers a question will provoke vary, depending upon the intent of the question.

For instance, a question which is sincerely wanting information will likely provoke a different response than a question which is asked in order to help the questioner GAIN THE TRUST of the one being questioned.

The INTENT of the question asked also helps determine any FOLLOW-UP questions.

One GREAT ADVANTAGE asking a question gives the questioner: when most people are asked for information, they feel flattered that the questioner would be asking THEM for the answer.  Someone who is flattered RARELY questions WHY a  question was asked of him in the first place.

A skillfully-posed question enables the one asking the question to direct that discussion into places the QUESTIONER wants that conversation to go.

Perhaps that is why the highest order of con artist employs skillfully-asked question: to gain the trust of the person being asked, to obtain information which the con artist desires to possess and to enable the con man to engage his victim in conversation and thus allow the victim to believe the con man means him no harm?

MOST men fall victim to the skillfully-posed question because MOST men are deluded and WANT TO BELIEVE that someone else is eager to have their take on a matter. Man is a creature who enjoys having his ego stroked.

ALL of the preceding is something the reader MAY wish to consider the next time he is asked a question.

“How can the reader know when the Corporate Media is lying to him (never mind the fact that the media is Satan’s Mouthpiece and Satan is the father of lies)? One easy way to tell is the use of “Why” and “How” in the headlines of an article. When the reader sees “Why?” or “How?” in the headline–occasionally “What” is used–that which follows will be a fairy tale, a narrative, a bedtime story spun by the media for the benefit of the media’s master. “Why” usually denotes an on-going narrative; “How” signifies a story line which explains past events. Not all narratives begin with “How” or “Why.” However, the most in-your-face, over-the-top ones usually do. ALL political “news” is narrative.

FOUR YEARS AGO

WHAT WILL 2018 BRING?

“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”
–Matthew 24:36

Over the past week or so, the basic question has been asked (more than once) “What will 2018 bring?”

Specifically, Matthew 24:36 reminds us that only the Father knows the day and the hour.

BUT, believers are to know the season (the general time) by WATCHING and PAYING HEED to God’s Word.

Generally, the reader can be sure that deception will continue and grow worse. In that same vein, the reader can also be sure that indoctrination and propaganda will grow worse.

As the climax of human history approaches, the reader will discover just how much the rich and celebrated HATE Jesus Christ. At the present, this hatred is largely confined to the movies they make, the music they conjure and the sheer joy they experience when they really lose themselves in their fables concerning the “ascent of man.”

As the masks continue to come off, the hatred felt toward those few who follow Jesus Christ is also becoming apparent. Because of this, many end times snares are presently being set; most of which pretend to be for someone else other than Christians (for example, Muslims).

Those who are not Christians will also feel the squeeze as well as the end times picture becomes more clear.

The big events in this timeline will happen in the near future, perhaps even some of them in 2018.

However, these events have LONG been planned for: they will not be triggered prematurely because those who call the shots delude themselves into thinking IF ONLY they are careful enough, they will achieve success.

“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.”
–Psalm 2:4-5

As always, the upcoming year will be interesting.

SEVEN YEARS AGO

ADVICE FOR 2015

Someone recently asked “What do you think will happen in 2015?”

Who can answer that question?

Only the Lord.

HOWEVER, here are two bits of advice from God’s Word.

First, one that is most appropriate for New Year’s Day–when so many look back at 2014.

“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
—Luke 9:62

Don’t look back.

Secondly, a bit of advice all sites allegedly devoted to prophecy might do well to remember.

“worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy:”

And those are two good pieces of advice.

Whether or not the reader considers them is an entirely different matter.

EIGHT YEARS AGO

2014

t’s the last day of 2013.

Some never thought we’d make it out of 2012–and here we are with 2013 nearly in the rear view mirror of history.

Many Americans will wonder: what will 2014 bring?

Will things improve?

Will things continue to go downhill–and if the answer is “yes,” will the ride down be long and winding or short, steep and brutal?

The USA will continue its plunge downward.  The middle-aged middle class will notice it more because the corruption and thievery at the top of the political food chain affect them now.

No, there is no political solution to a spiritual problem.

That includes “getting involved” with whatever schemes of man happen to fit your political leanings (left or right); moving out of the country; or taking the revolution road to revolt and civil disturbance.

All of these paths lead to failure–though the revolution one will look more and more attractive to many as the revolt drums begin to be beaten by the better-known of the rich and celebrated and some of the elite themselves.

It’s later than you think.

That observation applies whether one is Christian or non-Christian.

Those wondering “Later? What’s he talking about?”  can read the Book of Revelation for the highlights.

This will prove a challenge as many of the youth cannot read and fewer can comprehend.  The Bible itself is not encouraging to mockers and scoffers who look to the Book for help on what’s about to befall the earth.

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
—1 Corinthians 2:14

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness;”
—1 Corinthians 1:18

There are enough church folk having trouble with what God’s Word actually says, let alone the rest of the lost and dying in the world.

But, it’s all coming down the back stretch and, believe it or not, America (in spite of the constant doom being shoveled by the media) will be the last place to feel it.

This is for a variety of reasons.

(Oh, America will soon feel it PHYSICALLY–but it will also recover PHYSICALLY.)

In the meantime, the deception is everywhere and Americans struggle under layer upon layer of it.

Those who depend on truth to come from the Corporate Media–ANYBODY in the Corporate Media–or politics (ANYBODY in politics) will only receive more deception.

And deservedly so.

2014 will see more distractions and deception.

In fact, many Americans will see with their own eyes what happens and yet, believe the words of those in the political and media and “spiritual” cartels over what they see with their own eyes.
