“For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.”
This past week saw a number of media pieces on the topic of “surviving the apocalypse.”

OF COURSE, during an “apocalypse,” when everyone is going hungry, probably no one will think to clean out a Wal-Mart or Kroger. So, the readers of this last linked piece of end times propaganda will most likely have those places all to themselves, right?
ONE certainly understands the world’s irresistible urge to prepare physically for the end times.
However, it is impossible.
“I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pride of the arrogant, and lay low the haughtiness of the ruthless. I will make men more rare than fine gold, and mankind than the gold of Ophir.
Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, and the earth will be shaken out of its place, at the wrath of the LORD of hosts in the day of his fierce anger.”
The lost, the wicked, as well as the clueless pew-sitter: all can see all is not right; all can sense “something” is coming. Most have a general feeling of uneasiness which overshadows their days.
Some prep for the conversational value: to have something interesting to talk about. Some prep because they like being part of a team. Many prep because they feel they need to do something.
Yet, no matter how long or diligently they prepare; no matter how many guns they buy; no matter how many lists they compile (and there’s no end to the lists); no matter how much freeze-dried food they store away: they still feel as if they’ve missed something.
And they have.
They cannot see the forest for the trees. They have spent countless hours and resources on physical preparations which God’s Word declares will do them NO GOOD. In the process, they have COMPLETELY neglected the spiritual preparations which are needed to overcome what’s to take place.
Still, there is never a lack of men who believe they can fool God. There will always be those who believe themselves smarter than the Most High.
“The dull man cannot know, the stupid cannot understand this: that, though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction for ever”
Worse still, those who rely on the counsel of deceiving spirits, familiar spirits, demons, psychic power, Ascended Masters, superpowers, the Force or any such thing believe themselves to be undeceived by such advice.
“Now therefore hear this, you lover of pleasures, who sit securely, who say in your heart, “I am, and there is no one besides me; I shall not sit as a widow or know the loss of children”: these two things shall come to you in a moment, in one day; the loss of children and widowhood shall come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and the great power of your enchantments.
You felt secure in your wickedness, you said, “No one sees me”; your wisdom and your knowledge led you astray, and you said in your heart, “I am, and there is no one besides me.” But evil shall come upon you, for which you cannot atone; disaster shall fall upon you, which you will not be able to expiate; and ruin shall come on you suddenly, of which you know nothing.
Stand fast in your enchantments and your many sorceries, with which you have labored from your youth; perhaps you may be able to succeed, perhaps you may inspire terror. You are wearied with your many counsels; let them stand forth and save you, those who divide the heavens, who gaze at the stars, who at the new moons predict what shall befall you.
Behold, they are like stubble, the fire consumes them; they cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame.”
There is no way to prepare physically for what is coming.
The return of Jesus Christ is only the “end of the world” for the wicked.
The truly wise will use the remaining time to call upon the name of the LORD.
“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
