FAITH vs FEAR: End Times Survival

FAITH vs FEAR: Where is the reader on the End Times Preparation scale?
FAITH vs FEAR: Where is the reader on the End Times Preparation scale?

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Hebrews 11:6

During a recent discussion, a person maintained that they had faith and that faith was the opposite of fear.  While this rule of thumb may seem simple, it is vital for the believer to keep in mind.

Fear cannot co-exist with faith: they are opposites.  IF one genuinely has faith, then there ought to be a corresponding absence of fear; so IF one has fear, then there is an absence of faith.

Faith dispels fear, doubt, anxiety and anxiousness: all of which are from the enemy.

[And so there is no mistake: we are speaking of fear of the unknown. “Fear of the Lord” is not the same as fear of the unknown; “Fear of the Lord” requires faith.  The godly have a fear of God; the ungodly have a fear of the unknown.]

So then, how can one increase faith?

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 10:17

“Persons must hear, that they may believe; and God’s word must be preached, that they may hear. A non-preaching minister then is no minister; he is like a bell without a clapper, or a crier without a voice; he neither answers the design of his commission, nor the end of the gospel’s institution, which was to be the instrumental mean of faith. Faith cometh by hearing.”
–William Burkitt, Expository Notes with Practical Observations on the New Testament; Romans 10

Increasing faith is necessary for the end times believer.

Faith is what will carry the believer through those times of fear.

For the counterfeit Christian (who has very little, if any faith) or the unbeliever (who has no faith), the end times will bring uncertainty, doubt and fear.

For the pew-sitter in the apostate churches (who has trusted in cunningly devised fables and the traditions of men), fear will be a constant companion. It is a result of not putting one’s faith in God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

Because the apostates have placed their faith in other things (some having faith in themselves; some placing their faith in the smiling wolves in their local pulpits; some having faith in physical preparations; some in other gospels or another Jesus; etc.), they will be filled with fear and easily led by the man of sin.

MAN OF SIN: The Man of Sin is Coming

 END TIMES PREPARATION

Without faith, expect fear. Therefore, those who are sincere about serving God in the coming storm will have to be firm in their faith.  Not just giving lip service as so many do.

God knows all about empty talk. As Jesus said:

“This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.”
Matthew 15:8

Those who are talking the talk about faith (or who do not know what faith is) will find exactly how much faith they have by how much they are filled with fear.

All of the sight-walking church-goers who are faithless, seeking signs and wonders and miracles: they will discover that their’s was a faithless religion.

And their lack of faith will be augmented by fear, doubt and anxiety.

Also, by not believing the Word of God (the Bible), unbelievers place themselves at the mercy of man’s word: the media–and the Corporate Media is a fear-promoting, doubt-spewing 24/7 engine of anxiety.

Besides increasing faith by hearing the Word of God, faith is a fruit of the Spirit. So those few who genuinely have the Holy Spirit will have a spiritual barrier to unbelief and fear.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,”
Galatians 5:22

There are no physical preparations one can make to thwart God’s will in the end times.

Security and peace are not found in the number of canned goods one has placed upon shelves or in the boxes of ammo one has heaped up or the amount of gold one has stashed.  The antidote for fear of the future lies in placing one’s faith in God Almighty and His Son, Jesus Christ.

In fact, for the believer,  combating fear is simple.

“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”

Psalm 56:3

True faith is fearless.

Faith: essential for fighting fear.

Faith: an essential piece of preparing for the end times.
