One of the more enduring questions posed by man’s “big thinkers” is:
Why is man here?
Another similar question is “What is man’s purpose on earth?”
The purpose of man–and why he was created–is clearly set forth in God’s Word: the Bible.
But it is a purpose which proud men have resisted since the beginning.
“And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:”
—Jeremiah 32:38The Bible makes clear, both in the Old and New Testament, that God is looking for a people to which He can be a God.
To that end, He set up the earth, created man and gave man the ability to NOT choose God.
By giving man free will (and surrounding him with a plethora of other, ungodly choices), He ensured that those few who DID choose God would be sincere in their choice.
God has made clear his aim to find a people for eternity throughout His Word.
Again, God states this in the Old Testament.
“And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.”
—Jeremiah 24:7And God states this in the New Testament.
“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;”
—Hebrews 10:16“and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people”
—Hebrews 8:10God is looking for a people.
–from GOD’S PLAN: God is Looking for a People
Man was created so that a people who want to worship God can be chosen from among them.
Again, not a purpose or plan which proud men will promote.
Not a purpose or a plan which the big thinkers will promote.
Not a purpose or plan which the churches will promote.
Just the purpose which is clearly stated in the Bible.
Is the reader a proud one?
Or is the reader one who walks by faith?
Is your calling and election sure?
Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation
THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
