The Unrelenting Grasp of the World

grab

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”
–James 4:4

THE WORLD WILL NEVER STOP TRYING TO PULL THE BELIEVER BACK

When a man experiences the new birth and becomes a follower of Jesus Christ, he sees the world for all its squalor and depravity.

The new believer then realizes that the world contains nothing but death for mankind: the world’s hold over the convert is severely weakened.

BUT that does not mean that the world will so easily relinquish its hold on the new believer.

The world will NEVER stop trying to entangle the new believer in its appetites; its enticements; its attractions.

MORE: The World Never Stops Trying to Pull the Believer Back to Destruction

DOES the new believer win all of these battles?

Certainly not.

The Bible is clear that the new believer–though he now has the Spirit of God within him–is still encased in a suit of flesh; of death; of sin.

The flesh conducts a ceaseless war against God’s Spirit.

“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.”
–Galatians 5:17

HOWEVER, the new believer does not run to embrace sin–as he did when he was of the world. He battles sin, though sometimes he loses.

BUT, he realizes that sin is against the God who had mercy on him and leads to death and destruction. Sin is an enemy, not a fun vacation or an entertaining set of practices to be engaged in.

THIS is the entire reason the new believer is to SEPARATE himself from the world: to help loosen the world’s grip on him and to strengthen him in his constant battle with the world’s sources of sin.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
–1John 2:15-16

The believer may separate himself from the world–BUT…

The world will NEVER relax its grip.

One way the new believer can tell that he has come within the grasp of the world again is his susceptibility to sinful behaviors he may have thought he had overcome. The believer is no longer a friend of the world–but he may be getting reacquainted with the world MORE than he realizes.

The world will NEVER relax its grip.

The world will remain friendly–the better to entangle you with.

The world will NEVER relax its grip.

Therefore, SEPARATE FROM THE WORLD–and STAY separate from the world.

Still, the world will occasionally triumph for a season.

DOES the reader believe he has separated himself from one of the main sources of sin (the world) in this life?

HAS the reader ever wondered how some of those behaviors (once thought to be overcome) have crept back?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

Alone in the World: One of the Greatest Realizations of the New Believer

Alone in the world

What are two of the greatest realizations one has after the transformation of the second birth?

“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
–John 3:3

There are many, but two of the biggest which affect the new believer EVERY DAY are:

1- That the Christian really is hated of all men for the sake of Jesus’ name.

“And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
–Mark 13:13

2- That the world–which the new believer had previously thought of as his home–is the enemy of not only God Almighty and Jesus Christ but also–is now an enemy of the new believer as well.

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”
–James 4:4

Of course, there are a great many other realizations as well.

But to realize one is basically alone among humans is a circumstance to which one has to adapt.

The world is no longer the friend of the new believer.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
–1John 2:15-16

Which is one reason the believer must separate himself from this world–even though the world will NOT let him go quietly.

Excusing Bad Behavior: The World’s Justification

JustificationJUSTIFICATION OR EXCUSES?

The world will seek to justify itself.

The world will always search for a reason to excuse inexcusable behavior it commits.

One of it’s favorites: “IF we don’t do it, someone else will!”

Krauthammer Hits Scalise ‘Double Standard’: Obama ‘Didn’t Just Wander Into’ Rev. Wright’s Church Once [VIDEO] – One of Satan’s–and any five-year-old’s–favorite arguments.”They’re doing it, why can’t we?”

Americans were treated to a heaping helping of this type of non-Christian thinking during the Cold War.

“We have to do it–or the Russians will!”

“If we don’t do it then the commies will!”

It” could be anything from supporting brutal dictators, assassination, murder, running drugs: it was all justified by someone else doing it (or in the Cold War version, by just the threat of someone else doing it).

The world will never run out of reasons why it is wicked.

DOES the reader excuse bad behavior because clever excuses are offered?

THERE is still time to change direction (repent) and place one’s trust in Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

Success, The World and The Very Rich

I LOVE ME: Prosperity Gospel and self-esteem is all about ME, ME, ME!

“Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me.”
–F.Scott Fitzgerald

F. Scott Fitzgerald provided narratives for the very rich. It was one prime reason Fitzgerald was exalted by the world in the very short time he was on earth: in order to spread Fitzgerald’s falsehoods about the very rich.

It is the prime reason Fitzgerald CONTINUES to be exalted by the world.

Fitzgerald’s full quote from above.

“Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me. They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft where we are hard, and cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand. They think, deep in their hearts, that they are better than we are because we had to discover the compensations and refuges of life for ourselves. Even when they enter deep into our world or sink below us, they still think that they are better than we are. They are different. ”

In contrast to the falsehoods of F. Scott Fitzgerald is the truth of God’s Word.

“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”
–Mark 10:25

Here’s The Best Advice The World’s Most Successful People Have Ever Received – Fables from the has-beens, never-were’s and the rich and celebrated about what they feel is important for success.

OF COURSE, the most crucial elements of their worldly success will go unremarked.

Yes, the very rich ARE different.

The very rich are afflicted in any number of ways.

In ways which the world/Corporate Media labors tirelessly to hide from the masses.

IS the reader caught up in the world and the things of this world?

War of the World

War of the World

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
–1John 2:16

There’s a war going on.

This war is not Muslim against the West. It is not black against white. It is not rich against poor.

It is the war which the world wages every day upon those who dwell in it.

It is a war waged via the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and pride of life: all those material blandishments which the world uses to snare the unwary and lead them to destruction.

Rise against the christian machine – There’s a war going on.  It not only involves the world and the Christian, but those who carry the label of Christian as well.

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”
James 4:4

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
1 John 2:15

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Romans 12;2

Once a person becomes a follower of Jesus, the world does not surrender.

It labors every day to once again trap that member of the kingdom of heaven with its bait:  pleasures and appetite, carnal allures, wealth and shiny baubles, honors and exaltation of men.

There is a war going on.

The war involves the world and each individual.

And it involves the ultimate destination of that thing in which many no longer believe: a man’s eternal soul.

DOES the reader know he is under attack?

DOES the reader know the world has declared war on him?

REGRETTABLY, the world will win almost all of its battles with men.

THERE is still time to change direction (repent) and place one’s trust in Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

The Allure of the World

Bait? What Satan uses to tempt people
Bait?

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
–1John 2:16

The world is adept at tempting those who live outside its grasp–as well as keeping those currently within its grasp.

What does the world use for temptation?

It uses the three sources of all sin: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.

The appetites of the flesh, the desires of the eyes and the hunger for the world’s honors and exaltation are all very tempting to most. This translates into a number of areas which affect most human beings.

That list is staggering: money, pleasure, power, knowledge, control, fame, acclaim, honors.

Another way of writing the world’s temptations in shorthand might be “Sex, drugs and rock n’ roll.”

EVERYTHING that the world does is dedicated to satisfying or manufacturing those three blandishments.

Complete Guide to The World: The Ways of the World

And so, a choice will have to soon be made: the world or Jesus Christ.

The Bible says the great majority of the world–to their eternal grief–will choose the world over the free gift of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ.

One reason this will be so is because so many are presently in love with the world and it’s attractions.

Which is very sad.

But expected.

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”
–James 4:4

The World is Not as it Appears

World is not as it appears

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
–1John 2:15-16

This world is not as it appears.

This world, the things of this world and all that this world represents are enemies of God.

But the world doesn’t admit to its wickedness: the world pretends it is good and loving and true. The world has a thin tasty shell of attractiveness covering a chewy core of sin. The world is deceptive.

The world is not as it seems.

Those immersed in the world want others to think they are “good people.” Much that the world has to offer (sin) is marketed as “FUN!” in order to mislead and deceive.

But the world gives itself away whenever it encounters Jesus Christ or one of His followers.

Though the world hates any true follower of Jesus Christ,  the world hated Jesus Christ Himself first.

“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.”
–John 15:18

THE WORLD IS NOT AS IT APPEARS

The believer knows he is not of this world. Oh, he might forget it for a short time while engrossed in a task, but a trip into the world is all it takes to remind one that this world hates Jesus Christ and all who follow Him.

“If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
–John 15:19

All who look like sheep are not.

All who appear as angels of light are not.

All that is promoted as “FUN!“–even “good, clean fun“–is usually not.

All who smile are not friends.

This world is not as it seems.

“And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”
2 Corinthians 11:14-15

Is the reader fascinated by the world and the things of the world? Has the reader put his trust and faith in the things of this world (prescriptions, doctors, scientists, politics, cars, houses, money, job, etc.)?

It’s still not yet too late to change.

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation
