Peace: Find The Peace which Passeth All Understanding

PEACE: Get the peace that "passeth all understanding.
PEACE: Get the peace that “passeth all understanding.

How Does One Find Real Peace?

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7

Humans are on a never-ending search for peace of mind.

But so many times, they look in the wrong places.  Some chase after the false promise of peace through psychiatry and psychology (Searching for Peace of Mind).

In their search for peace of mind, many Americans have placed their faith in drugs–both illicit and over-the-counter (Why are antidepressants the most prescribed drug in the US?).

Some have turned to New Age, cults, Wicca, demonology and other forms of occult  “alternate spirituality” in an attempt to stifle their stress and fear  (Why was there an explosion of interest in Magick in 1984?).

Even captains of industry are rummaging in the pit of the occult in their pursuit of peace of mind (When CEOs Embrace the Occult).

Where is true peace of mind to be found?

Christians know that answers are to be found in the Bible–and the Bible points them to our Savior, Jesus Christ. In fact, one of Jesus’ titles is the “Prince of Peace.”

At the same time, unbelievers–entrapped in the world’s deception–reject the one source of comfort that could help them find peace of mind.  Jesus promised:

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
John 14:27

When one has peace, there is no room for fear.  When one has the perfect love of Christ, fear has to flee.  This is another promise.

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”
1 John 4:18

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
2 Timothy 1:7

To walk daily in Christ, led by the Spirit, is to walk in peace–for one of the fruits of the Spirit is peace [Galatians 5:22].

” For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
Romans 8:6

God’s Word offers comforting promises to all who place their trust and faith in God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

“The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.”
Psalm 29:11

Finally, there are the words of Jesus Himself, giving to believers what is perhaps the grandest promise of peace.

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33

Hallelujah!

As this fallen world slips further into chaos, turn to the One who can provide the only true measure of peace of mind: Jesus Christ.

End Times Trials, Troubles, Tribulations, Disasters: Put Your Trust in Jesus

Persecution, Tribulation, Troubles, Trials: What the Bible Says to Christians

As the world waxes worse and worse, humanity’s relentless search for peace of mind will grow ever more intense.

Unfortunately, many are deceived and will reject their one hope amidst the troubles to come.  Don’t hesitate and don’t wait.

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth, was crucified, died and rose again to give humanity hope against sin–and to provide a peace that surpasses all human understanding.

Conquer your fear, doubt and distress.  Place your trust in Jesus Christ and start receiving the benefits of peace of mind “through Christ Jesus.”

Begin right now:  Place your trust in Jesus.

Not saved?  Not sure?

The gospel of Christ has the power to save you!

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
Romans 1:16

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 – (h/t:B)

Roman Road: Eternal Salvation Through Jesus Christ

The Roman Road: Eternal Salvation through Jesus Christ can be yours!
The Roman Road: Eternal Salvation through Jesus Christ can be yours!

WHAT IS THE ROMAN ROAD TO SALVATION?

The Roman empire was noted for its magnificent network of Roman roads.  This transportation system “provided efficient means for the overland movement of armies, officials and civilians.

The Roman Road to Salvation is also magnificent, but its destination is completely different: an eternity in Heaven through the believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as your only way to heaven.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
John 14:6

What is the Roman Road?

Romans Road lays out the plan of salvation through a series of Bible verses from the book of Romans. When arranged in order, these verses form an easy, systematic way of explaining the message of salvation.

The Roman Road is simple–and easy to travel.

The Roman’s Road:

“The Roman’s Road” is popular method of presenting the Gospel using only Scriptures from the Biblical Book of Romans. It is certainly an effective soulwinning tool which every believer should be well familiarized with.

Traveling the Roman Road to Eternal Salvation

1. We are all sinners.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Romans 3:23

2. The penalty for sin.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23

Death” in this case means eternal spiritual death; confinement to hell.

3. God loves you and has made a Way to escape the penalty for sin.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Roman 5:8

4. What must we do we do to be saved?

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:13

5. Confess and believe on the name of Jesus Christ.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:9-10

6. What’s next?

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Romans 12:1-2

7, DO NOT FORGET THE GOSPEL!

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto eternal salvation. (See the gospel at the end of this article).

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

Christianity, through the presence of the living Christ Jesus, “is designed not only to inform our judgments, but to reform our hearts and lives.”

Welcome to your new life!

Congratulations!

Belief and salvation are only the first steps.  We’re commanded as believers to witness and share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ with a lost and dying world.

What’s after salvation?

1. Baptism

Some denominations believe that baptism is a requirement for salvation.  This is a point of dispute.  In any case, it’s important to be baptized.  A believer should be baptized as soon as possible after salvation.

2. Read the Bible

Reading the Bible helps believers grow in faith.  This is extremely important.  God speaks to his children through His Word.

3. Pray

Prayer is talking with God.  Believers are not to memorize and recite prayers.  Talking with God is one of the most important things believers can do to keep their faith strong.

“But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.”
Matthew 6:7

“Pray without ceasing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17

4. Get to a church that preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

(NOTE: For the times in which we live, finding a good church will be next to impossible. New believers are therefore encouraged to find other believers to fellowship with.  Or better yet, share the gospel, make new converts and fellowship with them.)

New believers are encouraged, exhorted and edified when they assemble with others believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

5. Witness: Tell others of what Jesus has done for you.

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Matthew 28:18-20

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

Suicide or Murder: The Curious Case of Ronald Opus

Suicide or Murder: The curious case of Ronald Opus
Suicide or Murder: the curious case of Ronald Opus? What was it? Was anyone guilty? Who was it?

CAN YOU ANSWER THE QUESTIONS?

Some have maintained that the curious case of Ronald Opus is a true one. Others have said that the story has been debunked; that this case is nothing more than an urban legend.

In the end, it matters little. The open-minded reader should examine the particulars of the case and see if he doesn’t agree with that assessment.

There are a few questions at the end.

The Curious Case of Ronald Opus

On March 23, 1994, a medical examiner viewed the body of Ronald Opus and concluded that he died from a gunshot wound of the head caused by a shotgun. Investigation to that point had revealed that the decedent had jumped from the top of a ten-story building with the intent to commit suicide. (He left a note indicating his despondency.) As he passed the 9th floor on the way down, his life was interrupted by a shotgun blast through a window, killing him instantly. Neither the shooter nor the decedent was aware that a safety net had been erected at the 8th floor level to protect some window washers, and that the decedent would most likely not have been able to complete his intent to commit suicide because of this.

Ordinarily, a person who starts into motion the events with a suicide intent ultimately commits suicide even though the mechanism might be not what he intended. That he was shot on the way to certain death nine stories below probably would not change his mode of death from suicide to homicide, but the fact that his suicide intent would not have been achieved under any circumstance caused the medical examiner to feel that he had homicide on his hands.

Homicide!
Homicide!

Further investigation led to the discovery that the room on the 9th floor from whence the shotgun blast emanated was occupied by an elderly man and his wife. He was threatening her with the shotgun because of an interspousal spat and became so upset that he could not hold the shotgun straight. Therefore, when he pulled the trigger, he completely missed his wife, and the pellets went through the window, striking the decedent.

When one intends to kill subject A but kills subject B in the attempt, one is guilty of the murder of subject B. The old man was confronted with this conclusion, but both he and his wife were adamant in stating that neither knew that the shotgun was loaded. It was the longtime habit of the old man to threaten his wife with an unloaded shotgun. He had no intent to murder her; therefore, the killing of the decedent appeared then to be accident. That is, the gun had been accidentally loaded.

But further investigation turned up a witness that their son was seen loading the shotgun approximately six weeks prior to the fatal accident. That investigation showed that the mother (the old lady) had cut off her son’s financial support, and her son, knowing the propensity of his father to use the shotgun threateningly, loaded the gun with the expectation that the father would shoot his mother. The case now becomes one of murder on the part of the son for the death of Ronald Opus.

Now comes the exquisite twist. Further investigation revealed that the son, one Ronald Opus, had become increasingly despondent over the failure of his attempt to get his mother murdered. This led him to jump off the ten-story building on March 23, only to be killed by a shotgun blast through a 9th story window.

The medical examiner closed the case as a suicide.

QUESTIONS

The main question this writer is prompted to ask: Where will Ronald Opus wake up: in heaven or hell?

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
–Hebrews 9:27

Committing suicide breaks the sixth law of God: thou shalt not kill (or murder) –this includes the taking of one’s own life.

“Thou shalt not kill.”
–Exodus 20:13

Poor Ronald! He is not only dead: he broke the sixth commandment in the process!

If only he had known Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour, he would not have placed himself in that unfortunate situation. Ronald would have known “the peace that passeth all understanding.”

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

IF he had been saved from the stranglehold of sin, Ronald Opus, at the end of his days, would have been bound for glory: secure in the peace that comes from knowing that an eternity with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ awaited him.

If you were to die suddenly, where would you wake up?

If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, it only takes a minute to secure the eternal salvation that Ronald Opus now wishes he had had.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
–John 14:6

Jesus came to earth and died to open the doors of heaven to all mankind–because all have sinned.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
–Romans 3:23
