“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.”
—Matthew 24:3-4
When asked about the signs of the end times by His disciples, the first thing Jesus did was warn them of being deceived. As He repeated this warning two more times (Matt 24:11, 24:24), Jesus apparently felt avoiding deception would be of the utmost importance.
In fact, Jesus said the end times deception would be so great that, if possible, ‘even the very elect would be deceived.’
These warnings to believers about end times deception are repeated throughout the books of the New Testament. Many of these warnings have to do with men who pretend to be Christians but are not.
False apostles, tares, ungodly men, grievous wolves, seducers, deceitful workers, wolves in sheep’s clothing, evil men, ministers of Satan, workers of iniquity: the Bible warns of the mystery of iniquity’s counterfeits and pretenders in the last days–and these are just the descriptions of the men in the churches.

Some of the NT warnings concern false signs, satanic miracles and lying wonders; some have to do with the command to “Watch!“; still others warn believers of the spiritual condition of men in the end times.
THE RATE OF DECEPTION
Prior to the 20th century, Satan had to rely on centuries-old techniques to spread his lies: chit chat of one person talking with another; printed material (books, magazines and newspapers); and, lectures or addresses to a crowd of people.
In these manners, the lies of the dragon were propagated. Again, the opportunities were more personal, but it was a slow process.
Over the last several hundred years, the opportunities to lie to children via the public education systems increased the rate of deception. And with the advent of radio, TV, computer networks, smartphones and other tools of mass communication, the workers of iniquity have pumped out lies to the public at a dizzying speed. And with improved computer-generated graphics, the believability of the lies has also increased.
Many of these lies are bolstered by the various shamans of that ancient, pagan religion which is now called Science.

FALSE REALITY
One deception which surrounds modern man is the artificial ‘reality‘ which is packaged and presented to moderns as ‘news.’

Because moderns can SEE and hear video clips presented on TV, smartphones and the Internet, they believe that the clips represent reality; i.e., the truth.
Moderns believe this even though they know that they are lied to constantly. For example, in commercials and in almost all political speech.
And much of the ‘news’ is NOT reality, but a homogenized presentation meant to deceive the viewer into believing he is getting the ‘facts’ of the matter.
The Alternate Reality: TV and Corporate Media add to End Times Confusion
The opportunities to lie on a massive scale have only occurred during the last 100 years with the advent of better communication technologies. Does this have anything to do with the fact that many believe we are now living in the end times described in the Bible?
Or is it merely a ‘coincidence‘?
In several discussions this writer has had lately, it has been remarked that mass shootings are a phenomena of our modern world; the mass shooting did not regularly occur during earlier time periods.
Various reasons are given for this. One group insists that it is guns that are to blame. Another group insists that it is drugs. Still another group wonders if mass shootings are not a sign of man’s worsening spiritual condition.
One reason for the recent spate of mass shootings and terror attacks which isn’t much discussed is the advances in communications technology and computer graphics.
What if the reason these events have increased lately is an altogether different reason? What if these events are a deception? What if these events are productions; a sort of alternate reality disseminated to the masses via TV and smartphones as a way to present a narrative which is really not happening?
What if these events were part of a bigger scheme to deceive all mankind?
Yes, that theory is certainly not being discussed much.
In 1998, a heavily-promoted movie was released: The Truman Show. It was about a man whose whole life was a TV show. Truman, however, was unaware of this alternate reality.
The film chronicles the life of a man who is initially unaware that he is living in a constructed reality television show, broadcast around the clock to billions of people around the globe. Truman becomes suspicious of his perceived reality and embarks on a quest to discover the truth about his life.
A news commentator asks the show’s creator, Christof, why he thought Truman never caught on to the fact that he was living in a manufactured reality.
Mike Michaelson: Christof, let me ask you, why do you think that Truman has never come close to discovering the true nature of his world until now?
Christof: We accept the reality of the world with which we’re presented. It’s as simple as that.
And that is a very good explanation of why most people do not have a clue that they are desperately deceived.
In the movie, Chirstof also delivers one other truth.
“…if [Truman] was absolutely determined to discover the truth, there’s no way we could prevent him.”
Those words might have come from the mouth of the devil himself.
And so it is with modern man and the prison for his mind which has been built by the mystery of iniquity: IF modern man was absolutely determined to discover the truth, there’s no way the mystery of iniquity could prevent him.
However, so few care whether they are deceived. Most are comfortable with the lies they’ve been told.
Though the Bible warned them repeatedly of the deceptions of the end times, people are STILL deceived. And not only deceived, but angry if anyone suggests their everyday life might be full of lies.
And much greater deceptions are to come.
“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast…And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
—Revelation 13:4,7-8
The alternate reality presented as ‘fact’ on the TV is just that: a presentation; a production; a show. It is NOT reality.
Do not be deceived.
There is still time to repent and enter the kingdom of heaven.
