Satan and the World Are Strong. God is Stronger

stronger

Shortly after being tripped up (again) by the world, the thought occurred that the world has a LOT of tricks up its sleeves in order to drag back those who have escaped its clutches.

While considering the many tools at the world’s disposal AND the ease of opportunity with which these various allurements are presented, another thought struck.

“The world (and Satan) might be strong, but God is stronger.”

The problem lies with accessing God’s power: many times, the world’s blandishments happen very quickly–almost before the victim has a chance to think–and appealing to God for help is not thought about until AFTER a confrontation with the world.

Perhaps the suddenness with which this occurs–something akin to being ambushed–is what prompted Paul to compare being snared by sin with being brought into captivity.

“For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.”
–Romans 7:14-23

The final thoughts had to do with

  1. God is so very much more stronger than the world or Satan or the flesh.  God’s power extends to every facet of life and the physical world/reality which surrounds us.
  2. Since the world, Satan and the flesh AMBUSH the unwary by utilizing human impulses, appetites and lusts, one MUST be prepared OR one will almost always lose the battle.
  3. SO, the way to win those battles is to prepare beforehand.  Ask God for help: God is stronger than any other force known to man.

It is important to prepare spiritually for one’s battles with the world before these conflicts take place–and these battles WILL happen.

God is stronger than the one the believer is struggling against.

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
–1JOHN 4:4

But the one struggling must not wait to appeal to God AFTER the struggle has already happened.

The struggling man must prepare for those struggles before they take place.

The struggling man must take advantage of God’s unlimited, great power.

ONE LAST THOUGHT:

Those who struggle against sin will overcome.

Those who struggle against God will lose.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

Focusing on This Short, Temporary Life Often Leads to Bad Decisions

wrong way

Has the reader ever known of someone who–although they appear to have a very comfortable and cozy life–is ready to chuck it all away and alter their entire life because they they “want to make a change”?

Regardless of how hard they (and any others who are also part of their life) have worked, the person is going to throw all of this to the side, leaving behind their present life (which many times includes spouses, children, friends, businesses, neighbors and/or professional relationships), all in the name of wanting to do “something completely different”?

This circumstance seems to be a fairly common one in the times in which we live.

At least it if far more common than in previous years.

When discussing the situation with such a person, a number of questions beg to be asked.  Such as, “Why are you doing this?” OR “Why are you doing this NOW?” OR “Is your life really so bad you wish to leave behind so much that you (and others) believe is also good?”

The most common answers to these questions prompt a few thoughts.

1- It is NOT important how nice or comfortable or filled with advantages ANOTHER person believes one’s life is; IF the person involved is convinced their life is a living hell, then what another believes is NOT important.

The REAL question seems to then become: “What has caused someone to become so dissatisfied with their life?”

“Through clever and constant application of propaganda, people can be made to see paradise as hell, and also the other way round, to consider the most wretched sort of life as paradise.”
–Adolf Hitler, Propaganda, the Big Lie and Adolf Hitler: 20 Hitler Quotes on Propaganda

2- It is a surprise how many consider any situation below PURE, PERFECT BLISS to be classified as a failure–or at least, a circumstance which needs to improve.

3– One of the most common answers to “Why?” seems to involve the running out of time–or at least, the feeling that one is under the gun, time-wise.

SOMETHING has convinced a great many fairly-happy people that they have an expiration date: that they only have a limited time to achieve the ideal of perfect happiness.

4- It is woefully apparent that many who covet a different result to their lives end up with a situation which is NOT what they imagined it would be.  In other words, a great many are disappointed that, after leaving lives they had spent years constructing to their liking, they wind up in a life which they definitely do not enjoy.

5- For some reason, one of the most frequent beliefs about rooting up one’s life in search of something better is the conviction that “If I mess something up, I can fix it.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a great many who do not possess the tools or mindset to “fix” what has been willingly destroyed.

6- Because so many focus so intently on this short, temporary present life (which is here today and gone tomorrow), a great many bad decisions are made.

After all, what is this short and momentary thing we call life but a shadow, a vapor?

“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”
–James 4:14

7- IF more focused on the long term and put this present life into its proper place, then a great many FEWER bad decisions would be made.

This present life is a test; it is only a test to determine where each person will spend the rest of their eternity.

MORE: This Life is a Test: It is Only a Test

So if one makes important decisions based upon the length of this present life (that trial test period), one has essentially failed the test.

IF all of that was kept in mind, the activities, circumstances and other parts of the vanity we call life would present less problems and the path ahead would be so much more clear.

SO, does the reader known anyone who is going through this?

OR, who has gone through this in the past?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Sin is Marketed Much Like That Other Known Killer, Cigarettes

doctors in cigarette advertising

“Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”
–James 1:15

The devil, Satan, markets sin to moderns much like that other merchandise of death, cigarettes, was earlier pitched.

Through the years, sin and cigarettes–both KNOWN causes of death:–have snared the unwary and foolish: cigarettes have brought an early PHYSICAL death to millions; while sin has brought about an eternal death to untold millions.

What is remarkable is that Satan–through his many worldly agents–has marketed BOTH sin and cigarettes in much the same way.

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?”
–Romans 6:16

Even though the public for YEARS had a strong suspicion–both through hearsay and through observations the public made of those who smoked cigarettes–that cigarettes were detrimental to one’s health, the public STILL paid money to shorten its collective life.

The reader may know someone who–even though the public has for YEARS had a strong suspicion that cigarettes were dangerous to one’s health–continues to smoke cigarettes after undergoing surgeries and being told he has cancer.

Why is that?

Of course, even though the public for CENTURIES has been warned in God’s Word that “sin = death,” the public STILL is not only attracted to sinful behaviors, but will defend its “right” to engage in such dispositions of death.

Whether it is selling sin or cigarettes (or some other form of death), the game plan for pitching these activities is much the same.

1- Make the person who is engaged in the lethal behavior appear “cool” or popular.

2- Associate the deadly activity with those who are rich and celebrated (movie stars, pro athletes, famous musicians, etc.).

3- Sprinkle the word “fun” around until the dangerous activity is seen as fun itself.

4- Promote all who engage in such fatal behaviors as “fashionable.”

5- IF anyone brings up that these activities lead to death, laugh at the mere thought that this could be the case.

Yes, the world has marketed sin in much the same manner as cigarettes were marketed.

The public learned a hard lesson about the consequences of smoking cigarettes.

The public has yet to learn that same hard lesson about sin.

And so the lesson will continue to be taught by those who insist that sin = FUN!

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
–Romans 6:23

DOES the reader feel that sinful behavior is FUN and EXCITING?
