“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
LOOKING FOR FELLOWSHIP IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES
This writer sounds a lot of warnings concerning the apostasy which has totally taken over the churches. Besides what one can see with one’s eyes and hear with one’s ears, the Bible has plenty to say about the condition of the churches in the end times.
None of it is good.
What does the Bible say the End Times Churches will Look like
The leadership of the various churches will always disagree–but then, what is one to expect? They wouldn’t be in apostasy’s leadership if they were real Christians. They would be leading the fight for Jesus Christ instead of preparing the way for the one who will come in his own name.
“But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.”
—John 5:42-43
In this writer’s experience, the leaders of the churches are uniformly pleasant and smiling: though cheerful, they are “evil men and seducers…deceiving and being deceived.”
“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”
—2 Timothy 3:13
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;”
—1 Timothy 4:1-2
The inhabitants of the churches are a mixed bag: some are deceiving; some obviously know they are deceiving but do not know they are being deceived; and some are merely blind being led by the blind.
Unfortunately for this last group (who enjoy the camaraderie and feeling of “belonging”), the blind end up in the same place as the blind leaders.
“Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”
—Matthew 15:14
Of course, the church-goers all protest that they love Jesus. They all argue that they are Christians. They draw near the Lord with their mouth, but their hearts are far away from Him.
“They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.”
—Titus 1:16
The complaint of “no fellowship” is a common one. So is the complaint of “I don’t know of any good churches.”
Apostasy has a ready answer: “There are no perfect churches.”
Of course, no one is speaking of perfection–except the apostates who are anything but. Apostasy hides behind the “perfection” excuse, stalling for time.
So with whom is one to fellowship?
With the same people one has ALWAYS had fellowship with: true believers; the Body of Christ.
Unfortunately, in the last days, the Body of Christ is not hanging out in the apostate churches. The Holy Spirit dwells in the Body of Christ.
And anyone who has the Holy Spirit will know the churches are not what they claim to be.
Someone recently made the following comment.
“But we need fellowship though Satan seek to destroy the church and bring in his workers 2 Tim 4:3-4”
There is no fellowship between light and dark, between Christ and Belial, between righteous and unrighteous. We are not to meet with the ungodly and fellowship with them, glad-handing while contributing to their various causes; attending their endless social affairs.
What true believers ARE to do is written (more than once).
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”
—2 Corinthians 6:17-18
One either believes what God’s Word says.
Or one spends one’s time trying to undermine it.
NOTE: If one does not presently know any true Christians, share the gospel and convert someone. Then, fellowship with the new convert.
No one (but Satan’s ministers) promised believers it would be an easy path.
“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”
—2 Timothy 3:12
THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
