That Never-Never Land We Call ‘Normal’

never-neverland

Over the past eight months or so, folks have heard a LOT about a place that everyone is supposed to be familiar with: NORMAL.

NORMAL has been used to denote “the usual” or “what is to be expected.”

Some examples are

“I can’t wait until things get back to normal!”

“Masks and social distancing are parts of the New Normal.”

“Maybe he’s sick and doesn’t know it: he’s not acting normal!”

MANY, it seems, believe that a ‘return to normal’ means living one’s life as it was BEFORE the coronavirus pandemic began.

OTHERS believe that a ‘return to normal’ means a return to life BEFORE March 2020: back to when one could take a trip to his local WalMart and the parking lot would be filled with the cars of those who were occupied shopping within–instead of the parking lot being half-empty AND the store largely lacking both shoppers and the goods shoppers might purchase.

SOME imagine ‘normal’ to have been a time when life was good; when one could PLAN for the future because one KNEW what to expect.

For these folks, ‘normal’ means a rosy future, when the only outcomes were largely FAVORABLE ones.  Sure, there were individual setbacks now and then, but these were the result of the individual not paying attention or not following directions or otherwise avoiding doing as he was told to do. But, by and large, the future was good because the future was largely determined by how hard one worked and how prudent one was.

This was brought to mind recently when a person was overheard making the following statement.

“I can’t wait until things get back to normal.  Maybe then, I”ll have the time to go fishing and do the things I want to do!”

This man’s obviously-sincere wish prompted a few additional random thoughts on that not-so-long-ago time folks  refer to as ‘normal.’

1- Whether the reader believes it or not, these events happening around him have been a LONG time coming. There is a reason these events are happening. Therefore, MORE, not FEWER, changes are coming: MORE, not FEWER, restrictions are ahead.

This will be easy enough to confirm.

2- Because these events are happening for a reason, there will be NO return to that imaged Never-Never Land most would call ‘normal.’

3- That imagined period of prosperity, purity and power was NEVER what the reader thought it was.  Because the end times are a time FULL of deception, that illusory ‘normal’ was NOT as the reader imagined it to be. But folks want to believe they live in a paradise, not a ghetto. And so, many folks will deceive themselves about their circumstance and station in this life.

“Through clever and constant application of propaganda, people can be made to see paradise as hell, and also the other way round, to consider the most wretched sort of life as paradise.”
–Adolf Hitler,

“The victim of mind-manipulation does not know that he is a victim. To him, the walls of his prison are invisible, and he believes himself to be free.”
Aldous Huxley, 1962

“The best way to keep a prisoner from escaping is to make sure he never knows he’s in prison.”
Fyodor Dostoevsky, 1871

4- Does the reader imagine himself to be FREE? The increasing restrictions, lockdowns, rules and regulations which the reader MUST follow ought to vividly demonstrate that the reader is NOT as free as he once believed.  As more and more of these restrictive measures are put into place (which are ALWAYS claimed to be “temporary” and for your “protection“), how FREE the reader REALLY is should become apparent.

As the world and its people are moved into position for the last days, the attempt will be made to explain away this LACK of FREEDOM by telling the reader more and more unbelievable stories.

5- There is a simple, foolproof way for the reader to remedy the deceptions and lack of freedom which mark that Never Never Land he called NORMAL.

BUT, the reader has likely been conditioned to reject this solution as “simple-minded,” “a crutch” or “ineffective.”

HOWEVER, if the reader can shake his long-established conditioning, he will–at last–have his remedy.

IF the reader is interested, then he better had get started very soon.

Time is running out and ‘normal’ is NEVER coming back in the times in which we live.

“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
–2CORINTHIANS 3:17

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

End Times Changes

end times changes

“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled? And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you”
–Mark 13:3-5

The end times are a time FILLED with deception.

The end times are also a time in which many changes will come about.

It is by these many changes that the reader may know that he is in the last days.

Reader should take note: the reasons given the public for instituting the many changes will NOT be truthful.  After all, the end times are a time of GREAT deception.

The deceptions used to mask the REAL reasons behind these changes will be VERY effective.  The deceptions used thus far have proved more than enough to fool the great majority of the public.

What kinds of changes might the reader expect?

ALL sorts of kinds: to move mankind and the earth to where the man of sin takes it over will require a few changes in the way the world does things.

1- So, the reader might look for ANY change to the way the world conducts its business–particularly any change to the way buying and selling has traditionally been conducted.

In addition, the reader might also be aware of restrictions placed on buying and selling.  It does not matter if those restrictions are motivated by what appears to be “a good reason.” (“We had to quit selling to white supremicists! They’re just the worst!“)  It is a simple matter to transfer the restrictions of one group to ANOTHER group LATER.

2- The reader might look for a change in the way the world views various parts (now known as nations or countries) of the worldwide system of government.

3- The reader might also be on the lookout for ANY changes in what have been considered traditional freedoms.

4- The reader might also be aware of ANY changes in the way energy is delivered.

5- Lastly, the reader may also watch for the ways the world spends its free time.  Also, the ways people receive information.  Are there great changes in the methods used?  What are they and what are the reasons given for making the changes?

There are other changes to watch for, but IF THE READER IS ALERT,  the five given here will start the reader on his way to recognizing when Biblical changes which signal the last days are occurring in the world.

Yes, the end times are a time of GREAT deception and MANY changes.

And the stories provided to explain these shifts in the way man has always done something will sound most reasonable–particularly to those who WANT TO BELIEVE SUCH STORIES.

BUT, IF the reader is watching for BIG CHANGES, he will not be surprised–OR too upset–when they take place.

“And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”
–Mark 13:37

HAS the reader noticed any society-wide or worldwide changes over the past year?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Growing Older

older

“The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.”
–Proverbs 20:29

“The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.”
–Proverbs 16:31

A few random thoughts on growing older–a process which begins at one’s birth and continues until one leaves this body of dust and dirt behind.

1- A man may be certain he is growing older when most of the people he talks about are no longer with us.

1- It is VERY popular to assert that we live in a youth-based culture.  This may be because the GREAT MAJORITY of advertising is aimed at younger members of society. (For YEARS, the most sought-after demographic for advertisers was the 18-34-year-old age group.)

3- One popular past time of the elderly is to complain of the youth: their shameful behaviors; their lack of couth; their unplanned, chaotic approach to serious matter.  But who taught the youth?  The great majority of the complaints center around learned behaviors.  Just exactly WHO taught the youth?

MORE: The Desperate Hopelessness of Modern Youth

4- One of the ways the world explains away its ever-growing wickedness is the dismissing of the observations of the old about how much worse the world has become during their lifetimes with the claim that ALL those who grow older OF EVERY GENERATION have had those same complaints.

HOWEVER, this does not make the complaints of the elders of no consequence.

In fact, it actually VALIDATES those charges.

5- The world has a number of thoughts on growing older–many of them amusing.

“Just ’cause there’s snow on the roof doesn’t mean there’s not a fire inside.”
Bonnie Hunt

“I live in that solitude which is painful in youth, but delicious in the years of maturity.”
Albert Einstein

“Never become an adult! They’re stressed-out, miserable creatures.”
Stewart Stafford

“Growing older is certain; growing wiser is harder and optional.”
Debasish Mridha

“To me, growing old is great. It’s the very best thing – considering the alternative.”
Michael Caine

“I wouldn’t be young again even if it were possible, but I am not going to pretend that growing old is all sweetness and light.”
Ruth Rendell

“If you are pining for youth I think it produces a stereotypical old man because you only live in memory, you live in a place that doesn’t exist. Aging is an extraordinary process where you become the person you always should have been.”
David Bowie

6- Contemplation and pondering are not given much value when one is younger.  These activities gain MUCH value when one grows older.  Perhaps this is because one can contemplate, ponder and otherwise consider the world while comfortably seated?

7- Many have remarked on the fact that one sign of growing older is the appearance of hair where none previously grew.

8- It appears that the most miserable folks are those who try to keep the same habits and activities they practiced when they were younger.  BUT they are no longer young and those activities often require the suppleness and focus of youth in order to be worthwhile.

MORE: Youth is Momentary

9- Growing older is something which most often occurs in stable societies, where food and water are available.  Nations at war often have less older people–often have less people, period.

10- As one grows older, one begins checking the newspaper obituary page–something that was almost NEVER done when one was younger. Perhaps this is because the chances of knowing someone who made the obituaries increases as one grows older?

MORE: A Walk Through the Obituaries

There are a great many more observations which could be made about growing older.  And those will be set forth at some future time.

God willing.

DOES the reader have any thoughts on growing older?

DO any of those thoughts include the life to come?
