Three Things to Remember During the Last Days

three

There are times when it is proper to belabor a point.

BUT, there are other times when the best course of action is “short and sweet.”

Today is one of those days which calls for short and sweet.

IF the reader only remembers that which is tagged “WHAT TO REMEMBER,” the article will be EVEN shorter and sweeter.

And so, without a lot of build-up, three VERY IMPORTANT points EVERYONE should remember about the last days–which are fast approaching.

1- The world and those who dwell upon it have a saying that MANY believe with all of their hearts.

“It’s not WHAT you know, it’s WHO you know.”

MORE:  Who You Know, Not What You Know Might Matter More

During the last days, the ONLY time this will be true is IF the person knows Jesus.

Otherwise, nothing could be further from the truth.

There are those who have spoken AT LENGTH about who they know; who that person knows; or, how much money or power that person has.

NONE of that will matter during the last days.

NO ‘connections‘ will help you: those ‘connections’ will be too busy trying to save themselves.

EARTHLY money and power will have a COMPLETELY different value than it does now–when the earth is ruled by men.

WHAT TO REMEMBER:

If you don’t know Jesus, why not?

Why wait?

What is to be gained by waiting?

MORE: Do You Know Jesus?  Eternal Salvation through Jesus Christ

2- “This too shall pass” is a saying popular with the world.

Many times, it is said to remind one’s self that present troubles will EVENTUALLY pass away, perhaps to become something BETTER.

During the last days, however, God is taking a personal interest in his creation.  And that interest involves all of those who forfeited opportunities to join the kingdom of heaven.

It also involves the few who availed themselves of God’s mercy.

There will be NO passing away for eternal torments.

Eternal torments are eternal.

WHAT TO REMEMBER:

There will be NO comfort for the wicked–OR foolish–among men.

“There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.”
–Isaiah 57:21

3- A person can ONLY make a decision to follow Jesus UNTIL A) he dies; or, B) Jesus returns.

After EITHER of those events take place, the decision will be made for you.

WHAT TO REMEMBER:

Do NOT delay.

MORE: God’s Judgments Are Final: Do Not Delay

Short and sweet.

WILL the reader remember these three things?

It is not YET too late: there is still a little time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

Unrecognized Modern Brushes With the Supernatural

baffled

“And no nation or tribe to my knowledge has not acknowledged that there are many invisible beings, and that they divide into good spirits and evil spirits, according to how they benefit man.”
Anne RiceWitching Hour

As has been mentioned before in these pages: there is ONE nation which has NOT acknowledged ANY invisible beings.

At one time, that nation was called the United States of America.

The USA has STEADFASTLY refused to make such an acknowledgement.

Because of this refusal, Americans have remained, for the most part, ignorant of the world which surrounds them.

“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”
–Hebrews 13:2

Being filled to the brim with various bits of minutia–recipes, details of their favorite celebrities, music or TV shows– many Americans are totally convinced that they are informational powerhouses–and CANNOT be fooled about ANY detail of the modern world in which they live their modern lives.

IN FACT, the ‘smarter’ one is, the more totally convinced that person usually is of their command of the facts about the world in which they live.

BUT, nothing could be further from the truth.

“It’s easier to fool people than it is to convince them that they have been fooled.”
Mark Twain

Americans (and increasingly, ALL moderns–no matter where they may live) are raised on a steady diet of STORIES about their world.

These stories are NOT true and hide the truth from those foolish enough to believe them.

QUESTION: Why does the reader think that those who imagine they control the world finds it advantageous to lie about the existence of invisible beings?

MORE: IF One Does Not Know the Problem, One Can Never Find a Solution

And so, Americans are treated to a number of stories about HOW the world around them came to be.  They also are educated and entertained by STORIES about HOW the modern world ‘works.’

Lastly, Americans are given STORIES in case they happen to stumble over the truth at some point.

“Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.”
Winston Churchill

And, these STORIES, for the most part, have worked.

Clarke’s Three Laws

British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke’s three laws, of which the third law is the best known and most widely cited. They are part of his ideas in his extensive writings about the future.

These so-called laws are:

  1. When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.
  2. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.
  3. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

And so it is that when many moderns experience daily brushes with the supernatural, it is THAT MODERN himself who explains away any supernatural connections.

NOT the government; NOT the popular culture; NOT the educational system: but that person who has had the experience.

NO DOUBT, most readers have had these supernatural experiences.

NO DOUBT, most readers have explained away these experiences as soon as they occur.

And so it is that MANY of modern experiences with the supernatural are ‘explained away’ with the one doing the explanation feeling uneasy about that ‘explanation’ and being bothered by it at some later point when the experience is recalled.

MOST experiences with the supernatural are NOT ONLY explained away: they are not even RECOGNIZED for what they are.

What does that person USE to explain away his experience?

Most often, that person resorts to the STORIES he has been told: preferring the lie he has been taught to the truth he has experienced.

And THAT is the crux of modern deception, in particular, AND modern life, in general.

HAS the reader ever encountered an event for which there was no worldly explanation?

HAS the reader ever encountered an event for which there was no world explanation, but the reader ‘explained’ that event–mostly to himself–with an unsatisfying story he had been told, ONLY to be mentally bothered by this ‘unexplained’ event at a later time?

It is not YET too late: there is still a little time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Face-To-Face With One’s Own Mortality

evil

“In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”
–Genesis 3:19

As long as a man can maintain contact with this dead and dying world,  he can be the most loud-mouthed, abrasive, arrogant, self-confident man in the WHOLE WORLD.

BUT, just as soon as that man comes face-to-face with his OWN MORTALITY, that man is USUALLY reduced to a state of blubbering contrition.

This subject was briefly touched-upon recently, which (later) provoked a few thoughts on the subject.

1- Man’s ideas of his own mortality CHANGE as that man ages and approaches the IDEA of his own death.

When that man is young, he believes he will live forever; when that man is older, he realizes how unrealistically foolish his earlier attitude was.

Even the worldly who walk among men recognize this circumstance.

“Mortality is very different when you’re 20 to when you’re 50.”
Keanu Reeves

“When you’re a kid, you have this feeling like you’re indestructible. Your mortality doesn’t even occur to you. But as time goes by, you realize, ‘I better cut this out or that out if I want to continue to exist.’”
David Johansen

2- When a man is surrounded by the familiar (his family, his associates and those he calls “friends,” his daily routine), he is very likely to think about the familiar.

“No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow.”
Lin Yutang

When a man is walking down the street, turns a corner and comes face-to-face with his own mortality–leaning casually against the wall of a building, seeming to NOT be in a hurry, and tipping his hat to that man–that man’s thoughts turn from the familiar to the UNKNOWN.

And what is more UNKNOWN (to most men) than their destination AFTER this life?

Thoughts of one’s own mortality have a way of FOCUSING one’s attention on one’s actions in this life.

3- MOST men live their lives by the stories they are told: when younger, by those who supposedly ‘know;’ by those who regularly tell stories to those searching for answers.

A good many of these stories have to do with one’s mortality.

MOST men live their lives according to these stories.

MOST men are deceived by these stories.

And so, MOST men–though they may take comfort in these stories while alive–still face a GREAT uncertainty when dealing with their own mortality.

4- Many men attempt to beat back the great uncertainty they feel about their destination AFTER this life with the stories they have been told.

It is suspected that this technique is MOST INEFFECTIVE when one’s life is at an end.

5- Though NO MAN desires to die, one’s uncertainty with thoughts of his own mortality can be replaced with a peace that “surpasses all understanding.”

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
–Philippians 4:7

Unfortunately, MOST men will reject this solution, preferring to continue in the stories–and those stories’ uncertainty–they have been told to the very end of this life.

Many times, coming face-to-face with one’s own mortality is ENOUGH to force a man to FOCUS on the truth of God’s Word.

And the STORIES which were previously consulted in order to get through this testing period we call ‘life.’

DOES the reader believe God’s Word?

OR, does the reader believe the stories he has been told?

Comfort and the Blind Eye

Blind eye

turn a blind eye

1 (idiomatic) To ignore or deliberately overlook or ignore, especially with respect to something unpleasant or improper; to look the other way. To knowingly refuse to acknowledge something which you know to be real.

See also

It appears that one of the requirements for living a modern life OF COMFORT which most men have mastered is the TURNING A BLIND EYE TO GOD’S WORD.

This can easily be proved.  God’s Word guarantees all those who follow Jesus Christ PERSECUTION and TRIBULATION–NEITHER of which promise much comfort.

“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”
–2TIMOTHY 3:10

“Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.”
–Acts 14:22

And so, the modern who DESIRES to live comfortably–never mind whether that modern realizes his desires or not–usually acts as though God’s Word did not exist.

This is accomplished in a number of ways.

  1. The substitution of attendance at one of Satan’s churches for the transformation of the spiritual rebirth.
  2. The following of various wolves in sheep’s clothing who twist and bend God’s Word to fit the modern lifestyle.
  3. The neglect to study God’s Word ON ONE’S OWN.

It is suspected that the stated desire to live comfortably is only ONE part of what the on-the-go modern is looking for.

A desire to ‘go along to get along‘ ALSO figures into many modern calculations: no unpleasant disagreements about Jesus; no having to explain how such a well-educated person believes the Bible; no disagreements of this nature over spiritual matters AT ALL.

Only a nice, comfortable bubble of conformity in which to live one’s life.

And since one of the HIGHEST values of the modern life is COMFORT, turning a blind eye to God’s Word seemingly assures the evil, wicked and foolish of all of that.

OF COURSE, since the COMFORT so many moderns crave ONLY lasts this very short and very temporary life–IF THAT–most moderns will end up being disappointed with the choices they have made.

All in the name of COMFORT.

HAS the reader turned a blind eye to the commands–and warnings–of God’s Word?

DOES the reader have his own little WORDS OF COMFORT to repeat whenever his conscience bothers him?

It is not YET too late: there is still a little time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.
