THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”
2 Corinthians 4:3

Beware False Prophets: End Times Warning Unheeded by Many

FALSE PROPHETS: A problem of the end times.
FALSE PROPHETS: A problem of the end times.

“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”
Matthew 24:11

One of the most frequent of warnings about the end times is “beware of false prophets“.

Unfortunately, few give heed.

False prophets and false teachers have ALWAYS been a problem.  They were a problem in the Old Testament and were also a problem in Peter’s day.

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.”
2 Peter 2:1

False prophets and teachers are also a problem today with the advent of the Internet. Over the last couple of years, a number of “prophetic” websites have sprung up, with their owners offering to give readers a “word from the Lord.”

What is the believer to do?

For starters, believers are to try every spirit, but that too is another warning which few heed. So many believe all supernatural power is from God and that every spirit is the Holy Spirit.

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
1 John 4:1

One other thing to consider: does the message concern Jesus? Does it point the reader in the direction of Jesus?

“And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
Revelation 19:10

Warnings about end times false Christs and false prophets abound. The wise will take heed.

False prophets?

There are more coming.  And the false ones at the very end will be the most seductive of all.

“For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.”
Mark 13:22

NOTES: These warnings also includes false prophetesses. Deceit is not gender-specific. This especially concerns those who arise from within the churches. The second beast of Revelation looks “like a lamb, but spake as a dragon.”

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

End Times Tribulation: Believers Should Have Much Tribulation

William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905) - The F...

“Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.”
Acts 14:22

“…we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.”

It seems that there is much discussion among the pew-sitters these days about enduring tribulation.

And not only discussion, but heated discussion.

The arguments that the churched will not have to endure tribulation flies in the face of everything the Bible declares.  But it soothes the flesh, so tempers rise whenever it’s suggested that those inhabiting the churches are headed for tribulation.

“Didn’t Left Behind settle that argument? Who are you gonna believe: the Bible or Left Behind?”

The Greek word translated as “tribulation is θλίψεων (thlipseōn).

Basically, it means “pressure.”

thlípsis – properly, pressure (what constricts or rubs together), used of a narrow place that “hems someone in”; tribulation, especially internal pressure that causes someone to feel confined (restricted, “without options”).

2347/thlípsis (“compression, tribulation”) carries the challenge of coping with the internal pressure of a tribulation, especially when feeling there is “no way of escape” (“hemmed in”).

[By contrast, 4730 (stenoxōría) focuses on the external pressure exerted by circumstances.]
HELPS Word Study

“No way of escape.”

That seems to be the hallmark of tribulation. Another hallmark of tribulation is how one deals with the internal pressure.

For the believer, it means relying on a God he has trusted daily. For the unbeliever, it means resorting to “Plan B.” For the counterfeit christian, it means sheer terror.

Perhaps the internal pressure of tribulation especially when feeling there is “no way of escape” is what causes so many angry discussions whenever “tribulation” is mentioned.

For sure, the pressures of “no way of escape” have contributed to the many “prepper” books and the survivalist movements popular in many of the churches.

“Who needs trust in God when you have a storage room full of canned goods and guns?”

“…we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.”

This is a companion verse to 2 Timothy 3:12. Tribulation suggests INTERNAL pressure, while persecution suggests EXTERNAL pressure.

“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”

Both promises tribulation and persecution to the true believer.  That is not a soothing message for the flesh. It’s little wonder that neither Acts 14:22 or 2 Timothy 3:12 are popular in the churches.

For those wondering, tribulation is here.

Tribulation has always been here for true believers. So has persecution.  IF the reader has not suffered tribulation and persecution, perhaps it is time to make his calling and election sure?

END TIMES SURVIVAL: Take Heed

TAKE HEED:This is important!
TAKE HEED:This is important!

Jesus is recorded to have declared “Take heed” 14 times. Whenever He told those listening to “Take heed,” what was He saying?

Take heed means to “pay close attention to” or to “listen alertly.”

Whenever Jesus said “Take heed,” He then always followed it with some important bit of information to the listener. And example:

“Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.”
Luke 11:35

But concerning the end times, Jesus only said “Take heed” TWO TIMES The first time is recorded in Matthew, Mark and Luke. What was so important that Jesus prefaced it with “Take heed”?

“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.”
Matthew 24:4

“And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you:”
Mark 13:5

“And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.”
Luke 21:8

Do not be deceived.

Jesus told his listeners to take heed to not be deceived concerning the end times.

There is one other time Jesus said “Take heed” as it concerns the end times. It’s recorded in Luke.

“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.”
Luke 21:34

Jesus instructed his audience to take heed and not be overly concerned with over-eating and drinking too much and the cares of this life.

Also necessary information. But the most important instructions: Take heed and let no man deceive you.

Deception is everywhere, every day.

Take heed.

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;  By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. LAWLESSNESS: An Age of Increasing Lawlessness and Sin

LAWLESSNESS: The times in which we live are increasingly lawless.
LAWLESSNESS: The times in which we live are increasingly lawless.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
2 Timothy 3:1-5

The end times will be marked by great lawlessness, sin and iniquity.

This lawlessness will be especially prevalent in the apostate churches.

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.”
2 Peter 2:1

“For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.”
Acts 20:29

One hallmark of this lawlessness will be mocking and scoffing.

“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”
2 Peter 3:3-4

“How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.”
Jude 1:18

This writer once knew a church-goer who delighted in mocking the idea of lawlessness.

She believed she was funny. In reality, she was just another sign of the times in which we live.

Lawlessness: The time is fast approaching when real crimes (murder, thefts, sorceries) are tolerated and fake crimes (science denial, intolerance) will be harshly punished.

There are some who constantly complain of the lawlessness and sin of our present times.  But lawlessness and sin are nothing new. However, the increasing public nature of both sin and lawlessness (and the pride and arrogance of the lawless) is a sign of the end times.

So, for all of those who believe the lie that “things will get better” or “we have to take back our [culture, country, church, whatever]” know this: there is no going back.  It does not get better (until Jesus returns); it only gets worse.

Knowing the times in which we live is part of effective end times preparation

“For the mystery of iniquity doth already work:”

Weapons of Our Warfare: END TIMES SURVIVAL

WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE: Don't fight spiritual battles using carnal weapons.
WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE: Don’t fight spiritual battles using carnal weapons.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
Ephesians 6:12

PART ONE

Believers are taught that they don’t contend against other humans but against the spiritual powers BEHIND those humans.

However, Ephesians 6:12 doesn’t mean a whole lot to a great many who populate the pews of the churches BECAUSE they read the verse with the eyes of the natural man; i.e., without the Holy Spirit.

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
1 Corinthians 2:14

PART ONE: Where do evil spirits come from?

PART TWO: Weapons of Our Warfare: END TIMES SURVIVAL

PART THREE: END TIMES SURVIVAL: We Fight Spiritual Battles, Not Physical Ones

PART FOUR: EXORCISM: 10 Observations on Casting Out Demons

PART FIVE: Spiritual Warfare: 10 Observations on Demons and Spiritual Warfare

PART SIX: SPIRITUAL WARFARE: The Explosive Power of the Prayers of the Believer

The spiritual powers behind evil men are the ones pulling the strings.  The evil men may THINK they are calling the shots, but they are deceived by a higher class of evil being. It doesn’t matter if the human is a witch, a wizard, or any other who consults with familiar spirits or demons or evil spirits.

It is the human who is the one jumping through the hoops for the spirit, not the other way around. Make no mistake, it is the humans who are forced to do any number of absurd and degrading rituals. And to what end?

It’s all to access what are, in essence, little more than supernatural parlor tricks.

Ephesians 6:12 puts the order right and declares that the believer is to fight the battle against the spiritual puppet masters–not the flesh and blood puppets.

But, how are we to fight the battle?

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;”
2 Corinthians 10:3-4

What are these weapons?

The answer lies back in Ephesians 6.

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
Ephesians 6:17-18

This is where the believer begins to access power promised in order to “stand against the wiles of the devil.”

“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
Ephesians 6:11

Most in the churches have been taught that Ephesians 6 and the “whole armor of God” is a metaphor.  But if one believes the Bible is the Word of God, one has to believe what the Bible declares.

There is a heavily-spiritual component to the all-encompassing deception that surrounds the world. Carnal weapons are totally ineffective against this deception. Carnal weapons include logic, reasoning, information, method of communication and other carnal means.

The Bible declares that carnal weapons will be ineffective.

In the battle for souls in these last days, believers will have to be able to “war the warfare” as the Bible instructs, not as is preached from the pulpits of the apostate churches.

“This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience;”
1 Timothy 1:18

Far too many who claim to be Christians fight their battles with puny and ineffective carnal weapons and then wonder when they are constantly routed by the enemy.

One either prepares in the manner which God has declared through His Word.

Or one will be swept away by the events which are soon to come upon the earth.

[This is the first part of a multi-part series on wrestling against the “the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” More parts will be forthcoming.]

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;  By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
1 Corinthians 15:1-4

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:9-13

Underground Bunkers in the End Times: Will they Work?

GOING UNDERGROUND: Will it help to survive the end times?
GOING UNDERGROUND: Will it help to survive the end times?

“The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.”
Isaiah 2:11

[NOTE: About a year ago, ETPR published Underground Bunkers for the End Times: What does the Bible Say?  This article is somewhat of an update on the original, along with new material.]

The market for underground bunkers for the end times is booming.  At least in America.

Men can see that something isn’t quite right.  “Preppers” are busy storing up food, firearms and precious metals, along with building or buying underground bunkers in hopes of escaping the calamities declared thousands of years ago in God’s Word.

But God’s Word declared that men would try to escape judgment by going underground and into the mountains.

“And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
Isaiah 2:19

“And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?”
Revelation 6:15-17

Will this strategy be effective?  Will hiding in underground bunkers and caves save men from the wrath of God? Or are men deceived?

“and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.”
Revelation 16:18,20

Trying to escape the judgment of God is foolhardy.

“So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.”
Ezekiel 38:20

So basically God is going to level the mountains and the world’s greatest earthquake is going to shake what’s left such as no earthquake has ever previously shaken the earth.

Contrary to what many believe, no preparation which man can devise will be able to change what has been preordained. Still, men continue to buy underground bunkers and underground living facilities with the hope that they can outwit God’s announced judgment

For the full scope of what will happen in that day–as well as the utter incapability of man’s puny efforts to stand in the face of the wrath of God Almighty–Isaiah 11 paints a clear picture.

“The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. And the idols he shall utterly abolish.

And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats; To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.”
Isaiah 2:11-12, 17-21
