“For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.”
–Luke 8:17
Recently, a little evaluating of various claims made by several occultists (of various persuasions) was undertaken.
Some observations from that interaction.
1- There was a marked animosity toward Christianity. This was to be expected (considering that most were engaged in activities which the Bible describes as “abominations).”
However, for a group which PRIDES itself on independent and well-researched thought, on the subject of Christianity the occultists relied a great deal on superstition, hearsay and faulty reasoning.
Sad.
2- Where Christianity was concerned, the loathing was vocal, universal and lockstep.
So much for their frequent proclamations of “free thinking.”
HOWEVER, the occultists’ beef wasn’t with Christians (at least most of the time)–it was with the church folk (whom they believe(?) to be Christians).

It is doubtful any of the occultists have had any experiences with true believers.
Occultists have more in common with church folk than Christians have in common with church-goers.

3- As a group, the occult practitioners appeared to be fairly intelligent.
Therefore, one can only attribute their “blind spots” to deception. And it matters not HOW INTELLIGENT one is, deception is NOT about intelligence (or logic or communication or beliefs or feelings).
It is a spiritual condition.
4- IF there was a group ethos, it would appear to be “Might makes right.”
In other words, many do it for the power, control and other benefits they receive. These trinkets and parlor tricks trump almost every other consideration–including, at times, their own personal safety.
In fact, pursuit of this temporary, worldly “power” (which brings its own brand of woe upon the practitioner) usually blinds the occultist to any other considerations (such as the downturns in health, family or other sphere of his life he claims to be important to him).
5- At times, some doubts are expressed as to whether they are being deceived by the spirits which they summon and with which they otherwise come into contact.
BUT, due to the pursuit of power, these doubts are almost always covered up–usually by a lot of metaphysical mumbo-jumbo and semantics.
BUT the doubts are occasionally expressed.
IF ONLY those who express such thoughts would forsake the fleeting benefits and step back to do some clear-eyed analysis.
Sad.
6- All had woes–some more than others.
BUT almost none of them attribute their woes to their behaviors. There was the occasional regret on the lines of “I did something stupid a long time ago, BUT NOW I’M SMARTER (or more careful).
7- Amazingly, in some of their incantations, occultists refer to God Almighty and ask His protection against the beings (which he created) which they are ready to summon.
However, as is to be expected, there is no humbling of themselves. They (like so many of the Prosperity Preachers) believe they can “force” God to their will by their words.
At least that is the gist of the incantations this writer became familiar with.

8- Some occultists have enough of the various pieces of the truth to put together a complete picture of what is happening to them and others of their persuasion.
However, because they are deceived, this writer was not aware of any who put those pieces together.
9– For an occultist to turn from the error of his ways, a great calamity usually has to befall him. Sometimes, a number of calamities.
However, calamity is not a surefire answer: the power of avoiding and excusing the consequences of one’s behavior is extremely strong among the deceived.
10- Occultists, like all who are on the broad way of destruction need the prayers of the few to have any hope of survival beyond this shadow of a life.
From the various remarks and comments made, it is doubtful any would desire such pleadings in their behalf.
Pray for them anyway.
“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools”
–Romans 1:22

THE GOSPEL
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
