MAN OF SIN Misrepresented: The Antichrist and False Prophet

MAN OF SIN: Preparations are being completed for the man of sin. The man of sin will arise from the midst of the apostate church.

IS THE MAN OF SIN THE ANTICHRIST, THE FALSE PROPHET

OR IS HE BOTH?

It’s the end times and “Deception” is the name of that tune.

Most of what American Christians have been taught about the end times is tragically wrong.  A bit of that is unintentional, but the majority of deception is bought from and paid to the Modern American Prophecy Industry.

Satan has a purpose in peddling deception and nowhere has the market for deception been bigger than among those who claim with their lips Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

One of the biggest disinformation campaigns concerns a figure popularly known as The Antichrist.

It’s a moniker one won’t find by searching the Bible. In fiction, there’s what’s known as an amalgamation: the combining of various traits of more than one person into one character.  The Antichrist is an UNamalgamation: the splitting of one character (the man of sin of 2 Thessalonians 2 and elsewhere) into two (The Antichrist and The False Prophet).

This ongoing, massive effort to deceive Christians about the coming man of sin continues to this day.

Many new Bible versions have taken to inserting the article “the” in 1 and 2 John, the only books in the Bible where the word “antichrist” appears.  These new versions have turned John’s description of antichrist into “THE Antichrist.”

This is a subtle, though important, manipulation of Scripture.

Whether by small steps or large strides, if one continues in a direction long enough the destination is eventually reached. We need not embrace great deceptions. It is enough to embrace little ones time and again, and have them skew our understanding, and impression of how things ought to be.
The Purpose of Trials, part 2

The Church Fathers on the Antichrist – Regardless of the author’s intention, this article is another sly misrepresentation which contributes to the confusion surrounding end time events.

The reader is offered five selections by early Christian writers.  These writings have value as they are what Christians centuries closer to the apostles and Jesus believed.

BUT these writing DO NOT say what the writer claims they say.  NOWHERE do any refer to “The Antichrist”–though the author of this piece helpfully inserts such language both within the text and/or in the accompanying narrative.

The author passes over this telling passage from the Didache.

“…and then shall appear the world-deceiver as Son of God, and shall do signs and wonders, and the earth shall be delivered into his hands, and he shall do iniquitous things which have never yet come to pass since the beginning.”
Didache 12, Chapter 12

Oh, so the world-deceiver does signs and wonders.  The Prophecy Industry attributes the lying signs and wonders to The False Prophet. But again: this is one person who (for deception’s sake) has been taught as two characters.

The early Christian writers had much different beliefs than the modern Christian.

Nowhere in ANY early Christian writings is there any reference to those two end times workers of iniquity so prominently taught in our own apostate age: The Antichrist and The False Prophet.

[NOTE: Lest the reader be confused, Revelation 16:13, 19:20 and 20:10 DO refer to the “false prophet.”   In Scripture, the false prophet is also called “the man of sin.” For further clarification, see the NOTE at end of article.]

There is one.

One man of sin, sometimes referred to as “the tyrant” or “the lawless one.” (The Prophecy Industry uses “The beast” and “The antichrist” interchangeably.)  The descriptions of this man of sin incorporate everything that is claimed by moderns to be the work of The Antichrist AND The false prophet.

The early Christian writings make this clear by attributing to antichrist what Paul attributes to the man of sin which matches what John wrote about the false prophet.

The Prophecy Industry tosses around claims of a “counterfeit satanic trinity: the Beast, the False Prophet and the dragon.

However, that’s not a counterfeit, that’s pure invention.  A real counterfeit trinity would be the dragon, False Messiah [man of sin/false prophet] and the demonic spirit of antichrist.  That’s not only a counterfeit (something closely resembling the genuine item), it’s biblical.

There will be a false messiah.  He will come in his own name.  Because Jesus has been rejected, this man of sin will be worshiped by the deceived world as the Christ.  He will persecute the true believers and the faithful Jews.  These two groups will be VERY small.

The visible Church will be perverted and totally apostate, given over to fables and fantasies. Because the apostates have not a love for the truth, God will send them a “strong delusion.”

STRONG DELUSION: Strong Delusion is Coming

This whore Church will be worshiping the dragon (Satan) but many will be convinced they are worshiping God the Father.

Because they do not “test every spirit”–-indeed, because they do not have the discernment provided by the Holy Spirit-– counterfeit spirits will entertain the Church, providing fuzzy feelings of counterfeit love and occasional lying wonders.

The apostate Church will be convinced they are involved, not with the demonic, but with the Holy Spirit.  The apostate Church will assist in the persecution of the saints. This worldwide apostate whore Church will worship the man of sin as Christ (the Messiah).

Altered Spiritual Perception: The Altered Spiritual Reality in American Churches

The spiritual condition of this end times apostate Church will closely resemble that of the current American (Christian) Church.

Deception will continue to get worse–though that is sometimes hard for true believers to imagine.  This deception is at work presently and has demonic overtones, as described in Revelation 16:13-14.

“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Though it hardly seem possible, church-goers will become closer friends with the world. Their defense of such ungodliness will consist of what their flesh whispers to them: “Hey, I have to live. What else can I do?”

The Most Useless Question of the End Times

There will be worldwide chaos, anarchy, world war, famine, pestilence and death. Between one and two billion people will die initially.

And then, the man of sin will be escorted onto the world stage by the antichrist mystery of iniquity which works night and day to produce the conditions needed for his appearance. His coming will be celebrated as the coming of the Messiah.

A world of love and brotherhood will be promised–-to those who worship the dragon.

Otherwise, it will be a short trip to a guillotine or chopping block.

Apostate followers of the man of sin will quote verses from Isaiah referring to the future kingdom of Jesus Christ to support their ungodly vision of an earthly kingdom headed by the man of sin.  Pew-sitters in the whore Church will be forced to make a choice: the man of sin or Jesus Christ; life in the flesh here and now OR certain death of the body and eternal life.

The vast majority will cling to this present life and throw in with the man of sin.

The followers of the man of sin will be promised peace and safety.

They will receive neither.

“For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”
1 Thessalonians 5:3

In the end, both the man of sin and the worldwide whore church will be judged by God.

But until that time, the coming season will be the man of sin’s season.

“And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”
Mark 13:37.

MAN OF SIN: The apostate Church will worship both the man of sin and the dragon.
“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
Matthew 24:24

[NOTE: Article updated and edited for clarity on May 21, 2019. To avoid any confusion, there are TWO beasts mentioned in Revelation 13: the first beast is the leader of the worldwide political system (and the political empire itself) and the second beast (the man of sin) who is the leader of the worldwide apostate church.  The context of the Bible verse determines which of the first beasts (the king or the kingdom) is being referenced. NEITHER of these first beasts is interchangeable with the second beast, who is referred to in 2THESSALONIANS 2:3 as “the man of sin.” Further, the two beasts are NOT interchangeable.  According to Scripture, the two beasts are quite different: one is the leader of the worldwide political system and one is the man of sin/false prophet/false Messiah.]

  1. You are very confused about these matters.

It would take to much time and space to reply, addressing all the errors.

To make it easier – I’ll attach a few video presentations. Then, add a comment or two.

    Blessings

“You are very confused about these matters.”

Appreciate your concern. If you want to rebuke or correct, use the Bible, not videos.

The article was written expressly for those who outsource their knowledge of the Bible to others or who depend on the extrabiblical knowledge contained in the linked video.

We do both agree on Revelation 12:11 apparently.

Don’t hesitate to share any knowledge of the Bible in the future.

Thanks once more for the comment.

      1. Okay, the following is based on Scriptures

        Time is short.

Do you acknowledged the Blood Moons/Solar Eclipses that are occurring (2014-2015) as we read in Joel chapter 2?

        I do.

Do you realize that the sign in the heavens as we read in Revelation 12:1-5 occurred on Feast of Tabernacles, 2011?

        http://heavenawaits.wordpress.com/signs-in-the-heavens/

With the above as evidence (signs in the heavens), what do you think of Barry (Islamic, gay, President of the First Masonic nation), accepting a prize (“crown”) for peace on Feasts of Tabernacles, 2009 (1st Seal) is in these last days?

Seal 2 opened with Arab Spring, December 2010.

Seal 3 was also regional (surrounding Jerusalem), opening in 2011-12 with the currency/inflation crisis spreading from Greece to Spain, Libya to Syria – but not harming Israel.

        Seal 4 opens soon.

Do you realize that the GW Monument is an Egyptian obelisk, 555ft (6660 inches) in height and 666″ x 666″ at the base, making this the highest symbol to The Beast (666) in the world?

Yes, this nation (under god in caps) is very connected to The Beast.

Best to comprehend this verse – Revelation 12:11 and Psalm 34.

You are about to witness the revealing of the son of perdition, Barry.

        Blessings

Thank you for taking the time to stop and leave a comment.

Do you acknowledged the Blood Moons/Solar Eclipses that are occurring (2014-2015) as we read in Joel chapter 2?

No I do not acknowledge that ordinary signs which have occurred frequently throughout history are the same as in Joel 2. NO amount of faulty reading of Scripture can turn Joel 2 into the “blood moon” deception of John Hagee and others.

Do you realize that the sign in the heavens as we read in Revelation 12:1-5 occurred on Feast of Tabernacles, 2011?

When the signs of Revelation 12:1-5 occur, I will not need you to inform me about them. They will be evident for all, believer and unbeliever alike.

Again, when the seals begin to open, the world will not need someone to interpret them for us. The world will not need someone to inform us the seals have opened.

I do agree that the Washington Monument is the highest obelisk in the world.

Obama is the puppet of evil men. When the son of perdition is revealed, he will be revealed, not announced beforehand by those who purport to interpret what Scripture says will need no interpreter.

      3. Okay,

        You will see to believe.

Considering today was an appointment day with God (Feast of Atonement) known as Yom Kippur, I want to share something very important with you’al.

        Here is a little background.

The Torah [Leviticus and The Law] states that Yom Kippur [Day of Atonement] was the only time when the High Priest could enter the Holy of Holies within the Temple and call upon the Name of God to offer blood sacrifice for the sins of the people.

Jesus sacrificed Himself on the cross is the perfect atonement – once and for all, since through Him we are eternally delivered (Hebrews chapters 9-12).

You can learn more about Yom Kippur (Feast of Atonement) from this website:

        http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Holidays/Fall_Holidays/Yom_Kippur/yom_kippur.html

We know and believe that Jesus is our atonement for sin, once and for all. But, do you know how He fulfilled what is written in Leviticus, which is the record of The Law?

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul” (Leviticus 17:11, NKJV).

I want to share this article written a couple of years ago with you today, which is a special day on God’s spiritual calendar.

        http://heavenawaits.wordpress.com/the-lost-ark-god-forbid/

The Ark will be brought forth very soon. There is no need for the Temple to be built for an abomination to occur.

What is required for such an abomination is the Ark, which has the altar upon it. We know the altar as “the mercy seat” – His blood is upon the Mercy Seat.

The False Prophet (da Pope) will be very upset to see evidence of God’s promise (Old and New Covenant).

Also – when you see NYC receive a nuke – that’s Rev. 18 fulfilled.

I’m just saying – best to comprehend Rev. 12:11 and Psalm 34c

        Blessings

      4. DJ,

        Thanks for your comment.

Since Jesus offered His once for all sacrifice, there is no meaning to the believer for Yom Kippur. The Law was a shadow of things to come; of the perfect sacrifice of Jesus.

The Ark will be brought forth very soon. There is no need for the Temple to be built for an abomination to occur.

You are correct: there is no need for a temple to be built in order for an abomination to occur. A temple most likely will be built in order to continue the deception of those already deceived.

What is required for such an abomination is the Ark, which has the altar upon it. We know the altar as “the mercy seat” – His blood is upon the Mercy Seat.

Since the perfect once and for all sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the ark, the mercy seat and other parts of the Old Covenant have faded away. [Heb 8:13] They will not be used for an abomination because they are meaningless in God’s eyes.

Anything which tries to supplant OR stand beside the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross; anything which claims to be the equal of God’s Son’s perfect sacrifice is an abomination in His eyes.

There are those who have invested much time, money and effort into promoting the idea that the pope is the false prophet. The popes are evil men. They will be the puppets of the dragon (just as they are now).

The pope will be a heavily-promoted decoy which intends to deceive (and he will deceive).

Agreed. Comprehending Revelation 12:11 and Psalm 34 is part of every believer’s task.

        Thanks again for your comment.

  2. This something that has weighed heavy on my heart lately. I feel like the God has been pointing out or raising warnings within me when I hear/read false teachings. Most Christians never questions what’s in their NIV or Bible of the like because we are taught that it’s the inerrant Word of God and that He would never allow anyone to alter His Word. That just doesn’t sit well with me, wouldn’t satan want to capitalize off of disseminating false information – after all, he falsely appears as an angel of light. I want to rightly handle the Word of God and the plethora of satan’s deceptive teachings. I have an AKJV and an NAS study bible and the differences between just those two Bibles are staggering. I don’t want to read the wrong thing. What Bible do you recommend? Also, what other texts do you recommend (like the Didache)? Sorry for the long comment but I don’t really have anyone else to talk to about this because my church uses the NIV too. I don’t want to stand before God blind and ignorant. I would really appreciate any advice or information you can help me with.

    Thanks and God bless.

    1. Jennifer,

Thank you for the comment. I’m in-and-out these days so I sometimes won’t see an email for a day or two or three.

Most Christians never questions what’s in their NIV or Bible of the like because we are taught that it’s the inerrant Word of God and that He would never allow anyone to alter His Word.

All translations have some problems. The newer translations have more. We’re given God’s Word, but we’re also warned of deception. Ultimately, the Holy Spirit guides us in all truth. Everyone who is saved has the Holy Spirit as their guide to truth through God’s Word.

      What Bible do you recommend?

I’m partial to the King James. Very occasionally, because of the particular wording or for emphasis, I use the ESV. A good concordance is sometimes helpful.

There are some problem verses in the KJV, but their number is very small compared to the newer translations. But there are mistakes in the KJ version as well. Those who maintain that the KJV is an “inspired” version don’t know their Bibles very well.

Also, what other texts do you recommend (like the Didache)?

To be honest, I don’t recommend other texts. ALL of them have errors. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t useful bits and pieces. But the trick is finding the useful bits among the many bad ones. Reading other texts and commentaries is like sifting through the modern Corporate Media: there are useful bits (but finding the good from among the layers of deception takes time and effort).

As a rule, the older ones are better than the newer ones–but that is only a very general rule.

At one time I went to a church which used the NIV. That was helpful because it allowed me to find the many errors in that very bad translation. If you check every verse used in the NIV, after a while, you will become very proficient at handling the Word.

I’m not sure how helpful this was, but it’s very hard to make a blanket statement because the rule of thumb to use is “No book but the Bible.” But again, that is only a general rule.

Thank you once more for your comment.

      God Bless you.

      1. toddot,

        Thank you for your comment.

I have Young’s and use it every now and again, particularly when studying a verse which seems unclear.

Direct translations have their own particular problems.

The word translated literally may or may not be the right word.

For instance, in Revelation 9:21, the Greek word pharmakōn has 3 possible meanings (depending upon the context).

Young’s translates is as “soceries” (same as the King James).

But the other two meanings also make sense (1. medicine/drugs 2. poison). The King James also translates the same word as “witchcraft” (which also makes sense) in Galatians 5:20. Young’s also translates the pharmacon as “witchcraft” in Galatians.

So, there’s still plenty of room for error with a literal translation.

Thank you again for your comment.

  3. Jeremiah,

I’m trying to grasp your interpretation of the biblical “trinity”. In Rev 19:20 it clearly states that the “beast” and “false prophet” (two in number) were “cast alive into a lake of fire”, but the “Devil” (Satan) was “bound” into the “bottomless pit” (Rev 20:1-3). That’s three in number. This is confirmed in Rev 20:7-10 when, after 1,000 years, Satan will THEN be cast into the lake of fire “where the beast and false prophet are”.

Could you please clarify your teaching.

    Thank you, Tim.

    1. Tim,

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and leave a comment.

      Very good questions.

The entire chapter of Revelation 13 tells us about the beast–actually about two beasts. About the first beast, we are told:
1- the beast “rise up from the sea.” Generally, the “sea” is explained as the nations and kindreds and peoples. The angel explains to John about the waters and the beast in Revelation 17:15.
2- the beast has “seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.”
3- The beast is given a mouth to speak blasphemies (Rev 13:5).

Obviously, the beast is not a man (unless the angel lied to John). The “mouth” of the beast IS a man. Is the mouth of the beast the man of sin (2 Thessalonians 2)? I think not because the man of sin and false prophet are similarly described.

It may be that the beast is personified by this “mouth.” In any case, the mouth is an evil man.

When John is writing in Revelation 13 about the beast, he describes the mouth given to the beast in 13:5. Afterwards, John describes the mouth and what the mouth does.

The angel tells John what these heads and horns and crowns (and the waters [sea]) mean in Revelation 17:8-15. They are kingdoms and kings and peoples and nations.

Rev 13:11-18 describes the false prophet (man of sin). We know the false prophet is the man of sin in 2 Thessalonians 2. We know this because Rev 13:13 tells us this second beast “…doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,”

2 Thessalonians 2:9 describes the Wicked (man of sin) as “whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,” (such as “fire coming down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men”)

“In Rev 19:20 it clearly states that the “beast” and “false prophet” (two in number) were “cast alive into a lake of fire”

You are absolutely correct: it certainly does.

Now, we have an entire chapter (Rev 13–as well as supporting verses in Daniel) describing the beast as a system. We have a very clear description of the beast and false prophet being in the lake of fire in Rev 19:20 and 20:7-10. Instead of reconciling the many clear verses of Revelation with Rev 19:20, it would appear that 19:20 needs to be reconciled with the many other clear verses describing the beast.

At one time (before the antichrist teachings of the 20th century), this was done by designating the beast in Rev 19:20 as representing the servants of the man of sin (which I don’t necessarily agree with).

Albert Barnes [Barnes’ Notes on the Bible]explains Rev 19:20 as follows:

The beast and the false prophet. That is, the overthrow will be as signal, and the destruction as complete, as if the leaders of the combined hosts should be taken alive, and thrown into a pit or lake that burns with an intense heat. There is no necessity for supposing that this is to be literally inflicted – for the whole scene is symbolical – meaning that the destruction of these powers would be as complete as if they were thrown into such a burning lake.

I don’t necessarily agree with this, as I believe that unless there is a very clear signal that something in the Bible is not literal (such as the beast having 10 heads), I think we should take it as so.

But, I give it as a sample of trying to reconcile 19:20 with the rest of the many verses describing the beast and the scene in 19:20 (instead of the other way around).

The Bible does not say that there will be a counterfeit unholy trinity in so many words. That is the conclusion of men. I do agree with this.

As to whether this counterfeit is composed of the false prophet, the beast and the dragon, as I wrote “A counterfeit, by definition, is a very close rendering of the original. So, we have God vs the dragon and Jesus (the Messiah) vs the man of sin (the false messiah).

And the Holy Spirit vs the beast? That is not a very close resemblance at all.

The counterfeit of the Holy Spirit is the spirit of antichrist described by John elsewhere (1 John and 2 John)–as well as other demonic spirits. Rev 16:13-14 describes them in action.

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

About the end times, I often write that we do not know everything at present. Perhaps we are not to know everything until the time comes!??

BUT one thing we do know, the popular teachings of the Christian Mass Media are deceptive and in no way connected to what the Bible clearly says.

Thank you for your great questions. This particular question has been the subject of hours of study by myself and others.

The best source for answers is the Bible, of course. Some information for the various questions can be had by going back and seeing what the early disciples of the 12 apostles had to say. None of their writings speak of an antichrist and false prophet. There simply is no early writings of this teaching.

The Bible does not say that the beast is “the antichrist” (though some newer versions have inserted the article “the” in 1 and 2 John where none is called for. Paul does not write of two evil characters; he writes of the man of sin (“that Wicked”).

Once again, thank you for the great questions. The study continues! We will update when more becomes apparent.

      God bless you.

      1. Jeremiah,

Wow … thank you for taking the time for such a lengthy reply! It wasn’t in vain either, because after a diligent comparison of scriptures, I’ve come to agree with you. It’s still a bit fuzzy, but I think that is due to two reasons:

First, like you, I believe the whole scenario will probably come into more clarity as we get closer to the actual “revealing” and …

Secondly, I think the Beast, specifically described in Rev 13:1-7, is going to be a “wonderment” in and of itself … something that we can’t really fathom or visualize at this point (and certainly not the way the current Christian media is promoting it).

For example, I even considered the far-out possibility that the “mouth” of the Beast could be an evil man designated as the head of the entire, global “Corporate Media” in existence during that time encouraging the world to make “war against the Saints”. I’m being deliberately loose here; but hey, anything’s possible!

One thing’s for sure, we’ll all become more enlightened on the subject as God provides the “updates”!

Thanks again, Brother … God Bless You,
