A GREAT MANY tall tales are spun from the information contained in the first fourteen verses of Genesis 6.

Particularly about those whom the Bible calls the “nephilim” (fallen ones).

One article which contains such misinformation is WHO WERE THE “SONS OF GOD” AND THE NEPHILIM? (GENESIS 6:1-4)

One can KNOW the fables contained in the linked article are not true: in many cases, these tales contradict what is written in God’s Word.

To cite just one example.

The linked piece trots out the old lie that the “sons of God” were fallen angels or some sort of “spirit beings.”

The reader can KNOW this is not true.

God’s Word informs us that the angels who sinned are chained until the day of judgment–NOT out running around impregnating earth women.

“And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.”

“For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment”

There are many others, but the reader might enjoy researching and finding the errors himself.

God’s Word is full of accounts which refer to “mighty men.”

Before the flood, the Bible speaks of “mighty men of old, men of renown.”

“There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.”

The workers of iniquity–particularly those associated with the churches–tell a great many fables about the time before the flood by corrupting Genesis 6:4.

Scattered throughout the world are a number of stories about such “mighty men.” Many of these tales (mainly attributed to “ancient religious texts“) relate how such men built the many megalithic structures which remain on the earth–the only structures which survive from the pre-flood era.

These stories tell how such men used magical powers to build these megaliths. All of the stories–regardless of culture involved–bear striking resemblances.

However, such men did NOT possess magical powers to move stones, some of them weighing over 1200 tons.

GOD REVEALS HIMSELF IN A NUMBER OF WAYS

God wants His creation to know Him.

God uses several different ways to reveal Himself to man.

1- God reveals Himself to man and the rest of His creation through the creation itself.

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse”

” Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.”

2- God reveals Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ.

“Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.”

3- We see the LORD revealed in the events happening around us–ESPECIALLY the events foretold in God’s Word. (Whenever one of those events takes on a “miraculous” appearance, the world rushes to explain it away.)

This type of heavenly revelation is one of those benefits which accrue to believers only. Non-believers shake their heads and wonder how it is that otherwise perfectly normal people can exhibit a rock-solid belief in a being they cannot see.

At times, this Godly download consists of the work of God’s Holy Spirit (which will lead the believer into all truth). Other times, the believer accesses extra info through FAITH. Still other times, the believer attains knowledge through a combination of the Holy Spirit leading the believer to discover the meaning behind God’s Word.

But non-believers do not have access to the information which believers do. So, non-believers are victims of incomplete details of the matter they attempt to discuss.

4- One of the primary ways God reveals Himself is through His Word.

“For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD.”

Using the four methods listed, as well as several others, God reveals himself and His qualities to man.

God wants His creation to know Him; to know about Him.

BUT, for God to be revealed, man must be both watching and listening.

TODAY’S “FEUDS”

Everyone LOVES to hear and see DRAMA, right?

And what is more dramatic than an apparent feud among the beautiful people, right?

Particularly if the “feud” is between celebrities, politicos or royal nabobs?

IN FACT, the rich and celebrated almost never disagree: they engage in feuds–sometimes for decades after they have ceased being celebrated for anything else.

What would the beautiful people do with themselves if not for their never-ending feuds?

Satan’s Mouthpiece (the Corporate Media) has always had a problem: what to do when too many of the rich and celebrated have NOTHING “newsworthy” to do. When the media gets tired of reporting what the rich and celebrated are wearing, they turn to the tried-and-true method of of fake “feuds” to generate cheap, plastic “news.”

One popular singer’s entire marketing campaign over the years seems to have been based on engaging in one “feud” after another. But, as the “victims” appear to be primarily the singer’s “fans,” it’s hard to get too worked up over the ruse.

Sports, politics and celebrity culture, European royalty–wherever the rich and celebrated congregate: these are the arenas where readers can most often find stories of “feuds.”

Oh–and pro wrestling…

One can depend on those who labor for the mystery of iniquity to act, in not only an EVIL manner, but also in a very repetitive one as well.

Case in point: when two followers of Satan are working together, one of the first things they do is establish that they 1-do not like each other; 2- they hate each other; or, 3- are fighting against one another.

Democrats and Republicans, Russia and the USA, members of the same family who toil together for evil ends, famous celebrities who are “feuding” with each other: it happens so often, one occasionally has to wonder, “Does Satan have a university or school where he teaches his followers these tricks?”

The command to not be unequally yoked with unbelievers is the main reason “tolerance” is the Number One ‘virtue’ of the satanic one-worlders.

It’s easy to see in everyday life: it’s all about tolerance until the dragon cults gain control, then tolerance goes out the window.

“Religious freedom” is a one-way street.

“Religious freedom” is all about gaining control; as soon as that’s accomplished, anyone who believes a Christian will enjoy that same “religious freedom” is deceived.

The dragon cults aim to stamp out Christianity completely. And they have largely succeeded.

THE GREAT APOSTASY

Many think the Great Apostasy has already begun.

It has not. It is taking form and the preachers of the apostasy are already out and about. But the great apostasy will begin when the whore Church makes its play for world dominion.

At present, there exists within the walls of the churches, many, many, many unbelievers. They are there because they are “cultural Christians”or “social Christians.” They enjoy some aspect of going to church and it costs them relatively little to do so.

There also exists within the walls of the churches many, many deceitful workers and agents of the enemy.

They are there to ensure than the lost remain lost. Many times, they smile and shake one’s hand and are very likeable. Their primary job is to guarantee that the gospel (which is the power of God unto salvation) DOES NOT get preached.

In this manner, the churches have become powerless pagan temples, containing some, who are convinced they are worshiping God Almighty and His Son, Jesus Christ.

There are others within who know better.

What does the Bible say about those who inhabit the end times churches?

Grievous wolves, ravening wolves, wolves in sheep’s clothing, seducers, evil men, false prophets, false Christs, ungodly men, “men…speaking perverse things,” false teachers, “them which cause division and offences contrary to doctrine…by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple,” false apostles, deceitful workers, “ministers of Satan” who present themselves as “ministers of righteousness”: this is who the Bible warns will be in the churches.

When the costs increase to being known as a Christian, THEN the apostasy shall begin in full.

End Times Apostasy is Rebellion Against God Almighty and Jesus Christ

End times apostasy is a rebellion against God Almighty and His Son, Jesus Christ.

The Great Apostasy–as it has been called–can take many forms. The most common preached in the churches is “apostasy is a falling away” or a “defection.” Many church-goers look at declining church enrollments and pronounce it part of the Great Falling Away.

But is it?

The word “apostasy” comes almost directly from the Greek: ἀποστασία or apostasia, which CAN mean “defection,” but literally means “revolt.”

So while some will merely defect or “fall away,” more will actively “revolt” against the “faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”

This revolt is currently swamping the churches: seeker sensitive, purpose-driven (instead of Jesus sensitive or Jesus-driven) social clubs masquerading as churches; gatherings where people congregate to be entertained with music or spectacles; emergent groups where people sit in pews and listen to New Age and other philosophical discussions; rebellious man-centered militants who think that the churches have to conquer the world before Jesus can return; cults who follow other gospels; and many more.

There are attempts to “explain away” Jesus’ question in Luke 18:8.

“Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?”

His question was not rhetorical. Present happenings confirm this.

Present circumstances also confirm another of Jesus’ observations.

“They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.”

The Great Apostasy began centuries ago. It has been gathering speed over the last several decades.

But it’s only getting started.

“The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.”

God’s Word declares the whole world will worship Satan and his man of sin.

BEWARE: Deception in the Churches!

“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”
—2 Timothy 3:13

The churches are apostate, corrupt and deceiving. IF one is looking for guidance for the coming storm, seek shelter in the Lord Jesus Christ–NOT a man-created church.

“The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.”
—Nahum 1:7

Though this writer issues regular warnings about the apostate churches (which are basically warnings from God’s Word), the level and magnitude of deceptions in the churches never cease to surprise.

“For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, fashioning themselves into apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for even Satan fashioneth himself into an angel of light. It is no great thing therefore if his ministers also fashion themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.”
—2 Corinthians 11:13-15

Consider this a “general” warning.

Add this to the many previous warnings: the churches are NOT to be trusted. They feature”nice people”–always smiling, always cheerful–who are ungodly and rebellious.

In the times in which we live, many churches are shameless. Instead of teaching the Word of God, they concentrate on ungodly “Christian books” such as The Shack, The Harbinger or The Circle Maker.

They smile as they spoon this poison into the ears of the naive.

The churches talk the talk of preaching the gospel and studying the Word. BUT when it comes time to walk the walk, they somehow manage to leave parts of the gospel out and the Word usually seems to be talked about more than studied.

“It’s all about the Word!”

“We love the Word!”

“It all begins with the Word!”

“We can’t get enough of the Word!”

But somehow, the Word of God gets exchanged for the word of men.

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;”
—1 Timothy 4:1-2

One simple test: does your church follow the Bible?

Or does it TALK about following the Bible, “loving the Word,” loving Jesus? Do it have women in spiritual authority contrary to the Word of God? Does it promote “busy work” and endless social events? Does it talk about the gospel but end up somehow teaching “discipleship” instead?

“He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”
—1 John 2:4

Almost 2000 years ago, the apostles battled imposters, seducers and infiltrators–and the New Testament is full of their warnings and admonitions.

After almost 2000 years of seducers, imposters, infiltrators and evil men, deceived and deceiving, the churches are totally in the hands of the enemy.

More observations gleaned from a recent trip into the apostate churches.

1- Before moving on to new topics on this subject, let’s take this opportunity to clear up a few loose ends from the previous installment.

PART ONE: Apostasy in the Churches: 10 Observations

A. Church-goers will at times acknowledge that there are many idols worshiped by others in their churches. They will even name quite a few things that church-goers put before God (idols). However, none have ever (in this writer’s presence) associated idol worship with what the Bible says is behind every idol: a devil.

B.Pew-sitters will very often complain that the world is “going to hell in a hand basket.” But to date, none have associated the worsening conditions of the world with the disobedience to God’s Word that is evident in the churches (which are supposed to be the light of the world).

C. The first defense of the apostate is “There is no perfect church.” But this is disingenuous: Who’s looking for perfection? Who’s implying that the churches should be perfect?

No one but those defending the ungodliness of the churches.

Forget perfection. Those in the Church are looking for churches that follow the Bible and not man’s doctrines or the latest fashions. Those in the churches might insist that they too want such a situation.

However, by their actions (rank disobedience and rebellion), they declare something altogether different. They claim to desire to follow the Bible only–until it runs up against their job, or their Harry Potter novels or their celebration of pagan holy days. Then their true priorities are revealed.

Now to some new topics.

2- The spread of homosexuality and homosexual marriage is a popular topic in the churches. There is little agreement on many things, but church-goers can often agree that the public displays of homosexuality is not a good sign of the times.

The feeling seems to be that only “liberal,” “depraved” or “bad” churches would ever endorse homosexuality.

The usual list of things condemned by church-goers (in traditional denominations) are: homosexuality, atheists and satanists.

This is because it is fairly easy for many apostates to see that these three things involve disobedience to God’s Word. Even heathens and the worldly know these three things are not of God. For the churches to survive until the coming of the man of sin, there has to be SOMETHING which church-goers can roundly condemn as contrary to God’s Word.

That list has grown extremely short in the modern churches.

3- Apostates fiercely defend “going to church” as a sign that a person is saved and right with God. To suggest that church attendance has nothing to do with salvation is very offensive to many and will cause some to get visibly angry.

The modern churches are temples full of dead rituals and empty, meaningless ceremonies which comfort the flesh of those attending. Church-goers mistake this temporary feel-good for the spiritual cleansing of true repentance and heartfelt prayer.

It matters not whether the church professes to be Roman Catholic, snake handlers, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Baptists, Science Fiction Church, ascetics, TV ‘ministries,’ Methodist, Lutheran or what-have-you: all are infested with traditions, ceremonies and rituals which satisfy the human hunger for the [security of] routine.

The cause of much anger appears to be that anyone would dare question the legitimacy of church attendance as a ritual of sanctification.

4 – Someone who adheres closer to God’s Word than the apostate is usually labeled “religious,” “legalistic” or “a Pharisee.” This last label is curious. The Pharisees were renowned for their attempts to CIRCUMVENT God’s Word, not adhere to it. They were also infamous for their lip service to God, not their obedience.

“In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.”
—Luke 12:1

So the use of the label “Pharisee” for someone who advocates obedience to God’s Word demonstrates a lack of Bible knowledge of the one applying the label.

5- The churches appear to be able to stomach anything (witchcraft, occult themes, idol worship) EXCEPT disagreement with their worldly, antichrist agenda.

Though they claim to value “All opinions. However, as someone has already pointed out: no one gets to have an opinion on a subject where God has already spoken.

As to their good works and motives, they strive for universal agreement by all in the discussion.

“Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.”
—Matthew 10:34

“Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.”

“Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.”

Practically any subject can be ruled “out of bounds” by declaring it to “not a salvation issue.” However, the central issue of obedience affects MANY issues that are declared to have no salvational value.

6- Talk of “evil spirits” or “demons” or “devils” make some visibly uncomfortable. Some declare that they do not believe other spirits are interacting with people in the churches today.

However, the Bible plainly declares the existence of evil and familiar spirits and man’s use of illegitimate supernatural power (Deuteronomy 18:10-12). The practitioners themselves (particularly witches) declare that illegitimate supernatural power exists.

Apparently the only two groups who declare that it does not exist are 1- those who have had no experience with such a thing; and, 2- Those who have but want to keep such experience secret.

The idea that spirits congregate in a place which is used spiritually is not a far-fetched one. IF the Holy Spirit was the only spirit who interacted with believers, God would not have had to issue the following warnings.

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”

7- Apostates know the Scripture about “narrow is the way,” but it appears not to matter enough to put away those things they’ve elevated above God (money, jobs, loved ones, etc.). Making God the number one item in their lives seems unrealistic and unworkable.

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

“Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.”

A usual response to the topic is “Hey, I’ve got to live!”

That God will be “reasonable” is another point raised.

8- Some justify and defend the promotion of witches, wizards, (Harry Potter, Halloween) and paganism as “It’s fun!” or “It’s just fantasy. It’s not real!”

It’s usually not helpful to the discussion to point out that “fun” is one of Satan’s greatest tools. Or that many pagans and occultists hide behind the skirts of “fantasy.”

9- It should go without saying it does no good to ever tell a deceived person they are deceived. The Bible says that they cannot hear you.

“We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.”

10- The people who inhabit the churches are almost universally pleasant. They smile a LOT. They are very agreeable on all subjects except those relating to the Bible. One almost hates to disagree with them because they try very hard to be likable. They are likeable.

But this does not in any way lessen the believer’s obligation to defend the faith and doctrines delivered by Jesus Christ.

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”

For most people,being agreeable is a more pleasant state of affairs than earnestly contending.

It’s almost as if they know that their pleasantness makes it harder to contend for the faith.

TWO BONUS OBSERVATIONS

11-The Scout’s motto (“Be prepared)” is usually always great advice. One should certainly always prepare before one goes into the churches. Prayers and fasting are good ideas.

(IF this seems overly-dramatic to the reader, refer once more to1 John 4:1 and 2 Corinthians 11:13-15.)

When one returns from such a trip, one also should pray for those with whom one interacted.

12- Once more (to repeat what was written in Part One,

When interacting with church-goers it is sometimes hard to determine if the person is being deceived or is “deceiving and being deceived.”

In either case, there is nothing for the believer to do other than to share the gospel and pray. No amount of logic, Bible verses, expert communication or any other earthly means will make a difference.

INTO THE BELLY OF THE BEAST

Some observations gleaned from a recent trip to the apostate churches.

1- A trip into the apostate churches is always undertaken with the hope that a pocket of believers might be found. However, these hopes are always tempered with the expectations of what the Bible proclaims will be happening in the end times.

“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do”
—Revelation 13:11,14

God’s Word clearly states that a second beast system will rise that will look like a lamb (Christianity) but speak “as a dragon (Satan).”

This system will look very much like Christianity but will really be teaching and promoting Satan’s way. Will these dragon-worshiping churches spring up overnight? Or will the churches that exist simply be used?

Some may feel that there is a huge leap from the churches as they now exist and dragon worship. But unfortunately, that is not true. Most churches already have idols and witchcraft is common in many churches as well. Regardless of how vehemently their members may protest, not much would have to change for the present church system to go FULL DRAGON.

Of course, the people in the churches will insist that they are not worshiping the dragon. They will claim they are worshiping God Almighty and His Son, Jesus Christ.

Just as most claim today.

IF one asks, almost unanimously, church-goers will state they believe we are living in the end times. But while many church-goers are familiar with Revelation 13:11,13, to date none this writer have talked to associate this end times satanic system of churches with the churches they attend.

Holding two contradictory points of view at the same time has a name. It is called cognitive dissonance by the world and is claimed to be a source of stress.

2- Attendees of the apostate churches claim they can see the ungodliness that is sweeping through the churches.

Other people’s churches.

When asked about their own, invariably they affirm that their church is different.

3- Church-goers are almost all rebellious concerning God’s Word. Most are okay with sections of the Bible, but the entire Bible is something that is very, very hard for the modern apostate to stomach.

Different Scriptures excite different apostates. One church-goer may be agreeable to all Paul’s instructions to Timothy on how to run the church; but to another, 1 Timothy 2:11-14 is fighting words.

“Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.”

4- Apostates do not want to obey the Word of God.

Apostates will always give a variety of reasons for why disobedience to God’s Word is acceptable.

They will not obey–but they will feel they have a perfectly legitimate reason for doing so. The Bible records many such instances of disobedience in the children of Israel. When such disobedience was discovered, the disobedient ALWAYS had reasons for their transgressions.

And almost always, God struck the disobedient dead (in Saul’s case–and a few other instances–He decreed death).

5- “There is no perfect church.” is the first line of defense when ungodliness and disobedience in the churches are mentioned. When it is pointed out that much of the churches’ works are directly opposed to Christianity, the discussion moves on to other defenses; such as the churches are “doing God’s work.”

6- Many apostates know that the whole world will worship the dragon in the end times. Many apostates claim they believe the end times are now.

But when asked “Where the world will worship the dragon? Will the world conduct this worship in the streets or in an open field? Or in an already existing church?”

They have no answer.

“And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

7- It can be pointed out that denominations are little more than Satan’s name brands. But there is very little agreement on this point by those who currently inhabit the churches.

8- “At what point will people admit the churches are the problem and not the solution and LEAVE their churches?”

When asked this question, those in the churches usually protest that their churches are doing good works. Good works are their defense for any doctrinal differences with the Bible. (This is the same defense used by various and sundry secret societies which are opposed to Jesus Christ. “We do a lot of good work.”)

To date, the question remains unanswered.

9- A similar unanswered question is “What doctrine is so extreme that once a church adopts it, it will result in most of the church members deserting that church?”

10- When interacting with a church-goer, it is sometimes hard to determine if the person is being deceived or is “deceiving and being deceived.”

In either case, there is nothing for the believer to do other than to share the gospel and pray. No amount of logic, Bible verses, expert communication or any other earthly means will make a difference.

Only prayer and the gospel.

UNDERSTAND THE TRUTH FROM THE SCRIPTURE

Part Five of a Five-Part Series

This walk with God comes from Him and has no origin within ourselves. Of ourselves we are lost and despoiled by our depraved sin natures; there is nothing of salvation, godliness, or holiness that comes from our weak and fallen godless natures that in anyway pertains to our walk of faith.

¹Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ: ²Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, ³According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue: ⁴Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Peter 1:1-4

Our faith, God’s grace, peace, eternal life and godliness originate and come to us through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ, knowing Him and being imbued with His divine power. There is nothing that unrighteous fallen man, who is controlled by lust, can contribute to this life of faith in Jesus Christ.

³Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. ⁴Nicodemus said unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? ⁵Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.⁶That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. ⁷Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The flesh produces the works of the flesh, corruption, the Spirit produces that which is of God.

Faith in Christ is predicated upon the revelation of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, given to us in the Bible.

¹⁴But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; ¹⁵ And that from a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: ¹⁷That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:14-17

²⁰Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation. ²¹For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:20-21

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Isaiah 8:20

It is important that we are careful about the translation of Scripture that we choose because there is much of the flesh that has permeated the pure Word of God during the past two centuries. This has come about because fallen man in his wisdom has decided that God has not preserved His Word for us today and that “biblical scholars” must ferret out God’s Word from man’s words. Besides negating the biblical doctrine of the preservation of the Scriptures, these fallen men rely upon deceptive manuscripts that were rejected by believers as being untrustworthy.

God has promised in the Scriptures to preserve His Word for us.

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations. Psalms 100:5

For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endures forever. Praise ye the LORD. Psalms 117:2

⁸⁹Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. ⁹⁰Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abides. ⁹¹They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants. Psalms 119:89-91

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endures forever. Psalms 119:160

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides forever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away: But the word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. 1 Peter 1:23-25

The Lord has preserved His Word for us in the Received Text, the Greek manuscript which is based upon the Majority Texts, the plurality of all existing Greek manuscripts. Those who hold to the Critical text do not believe that God has preserved the text of the Scriptures for us and they believe that “biblical scholars” discover and uncover the Scriptures. They do not believe that we have the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God extant today.

While those who trust the Lord Jesus Christ and hold fast to His Word do believe that we have God’s Word abiding with us today in the Bible, the KJV, based upon the Received Text. It is the only version that is taken from the Received Text. Jesus had some very harsh words for the scholars of His day.

¹³But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. ¹⁴Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. ¹⁵Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. Matthew 23:13-15

The same evil religiosity that pervaded the land of Israel and opposed our Savior Jesus Christ is the same perversion of the truth that masquerades as faith in Christ today.

The dependence upon fallen man to uncover the Scriptures, rather than trusting that God has preserved His Word for us has led to an all-out frontal attack upon the Bible through incorporating error within the modern versions that leads people astray and away from the centrality of Christ Jesus. Just as the Pharisees, Sadducees and scribes conspired to destroy the Son of Man, so these same evil workers in modern garb set about to sabotage and undermine the work of the Spirit through His sword, which is the Word of God, the Bible.

These cohorts of Satan work overtime to build up and maintain their fleshly kingdoms leading untold millions to eternal damnation. Opposing the true work of God, they perpetrate all manner of corruption and error that lead lost deceived souls to perdition. The influx and abundance of false teaching can be directly correlated to the surge of apostate and corrupt modern versions of the Bible. This is the direct cause of the embracing of sexual corruption and perversion within the visible church. This deceitful grid of man over the Word of God breeds/spreads evil abroad.

The visible church is a haunt of every evil spirit and corruption. The work of the flesh is at home within her walls. The work of righteousness is considered a queer thing. Those who are of God and filled with His Spirit, who point to Christ and His Holy Word are rejected as troublers of the church much as Ahab the wicked king of Israel slandered the prophet Elijah.

The only hope is to reject the lie and embrace the truth of God and come out from among these apostates. If you do not quickly do this you will be subsumed into the end time apostate church that embraces the Antichrist as the one who is the answer to their prayers.

¹⁴Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? ¹⁵And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? ¹⁶And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. ¹⁷Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, ¹⁸And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

This is the call of Almighty God to turn to Him and away from sin and evil doers. The ones who obey God in this command are His ekklesia, His true and beloved Bride, the ones who answer His call to come out from the deluded and deceived apostates who have embraced the lie because the love unrighteousness more than the truth. May we with love for the Savior Jesus Christ, belief in His truth and faith in our Father follow our Lord to be obedient and set apart for His glory.

Part Four of a Five-Part Series

Jesus warned us about the results of the deception that would define the end times before His return.

⁹“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. ¹⁰And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. ¹¹Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. ¹²And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. ¹³But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” Matthew 24:9-13

⁷“And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? ⁸I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:7-8

These verses paint a very bleak picture for the tenor of belief during these end times. Those who are faithful will suffer persecution, many false prophets and false teachers will arise, lawlessness will abound, and as a result, many will lose their love for the Savior and for the brethren. It will be so bad that Jesus Christ asked the rhetorical question, “Will the Son of Man really find faith on the earth when He comes back?” One of the precipitating factors for these conditions is the loss of esteem for the Word of God. We can catalogue the false doctrines that have led to the discounting of the Bible in the life of the believer.

Fallen man will always disparage the Bible, what else can he do? There are those who have been embraced as believers who have actually led the attack upon the Scriptures from within the church. Last post, we saw that Augustine not only spiritualized prophecy rejecting its true interpretation regarding the return of Jesus Christ, but he also placed the opinion of the church and councils over the Holy Scriptures and above the Holy Spirit’s work in revealing the truth to us from God’s Word.

During the Reformation, rather than rejecting this heretic, the heroes of this movement embraced this evil worker. This movement continued apace to Friedrich Schleiermacher (1768-1834) who divorced faith in God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ from the Scriptures, and also helped to evolve the school of Higher Criticism which debases the Bible to be a mere work of man that can only be truly discovered and “revealed” by “biblical scholars”.

Based upon this attack upon the Word of God most “conservative evangelical pastors and scholars” do not believe in the providential preservation of God’s Word, and so believe that we do not have the inerrant Word of God extant today. If you look at the doctrinal statement of the majority of “conservative evangelical” churches regarding the Word of God, the statement will say they believe the Bible to be the infallible, inspired, inerrant Word of God in the original manuscripts. We do not have the original manuscripts so they are saying in essence that we do not have the Holy inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God. And so to even know what the Word of God is, requires “biblical scholars” to uncover it from the available manuscripts.

Therefore, based upon these false assumptions, the logical assumption is that we can’t really know what God has said clearly mirroring Satan when he said to Eve: “Has God indeed said…?”(Genesis 3:1), thus throwing off confidence in oracles of God. This has brought in the distressingly destructive situation that we have today where vast numbers throw off studying the Scriptures and instead eat up myriads of books which promote unbelievably blasphemous heresy. I would like to consider two of those destructive doctrines that are espoused and held dear by such people as Robert Schuller and Billy Graham.

Robert Schuller has taught for many years that our actual problem is we have low self-esteem and therefore Jesus Christ delivers us from low self-esteem and restores to us a proper positive view of ourselves. I have personally seen the destructive results of this false doctrine in the life of a former family member. Those who hold to such error consider their ideas, thoughts, and feelings as supreme in their lives and are so glad that Jesus Christ is there right alongside of them to support them in their quests for self-actualization. They have no heart for humble belief and dependence upon Jesus Christ as He is revealed to us in the Scriptures nor do they desire to thankfully obey God’s Word. These are the ones that Paul warned us about in the Scriptures in 2 Timothy 3:1-5

¹But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: ²For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ³unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, ⁴traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁵having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 2 Timothy 3:1-5

If we investigate what God’s Word has to say about our need for the Savior, we will see that He saves us from our sinful rebellion against the Lord God Almighty. If we do not acknowledge ourselves as sinners we can never be saved and will only inherit eternal damnation for all of our efforts.

⁷But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. ⁸If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ⁹If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ¹⁰If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 1 John 1:7-10

This sin is not merely low self-esteem or mistakes, it is a willful wicked refusal to believe in and obey God.

⁹What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin. ¹⁰As it is written: “There is none righteous, no not one; ¹¹There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. ¹²They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is no one who does good, on, not one.” ¹³Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”, The poison of asps is under their lips”, ¹⁴Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.” ¹⁵Their feet are swift to shed blood; ¹⁶Destruction and misery are in their ways; ¹⁷And the way of peace they have not known.” ¹⁸There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Romans 3:9-18

This is the condition of all of mankind. Our great God and Savior sent His Son Jesus Christ to deliver us from sin and reconcile us to Himself for His glory.

⁴But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, ⁵not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, ⁶whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, ⁷that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7

This is the only way for sinful people to be reconciled to our holy God, through faith in Jesus Christ. Rejection of the doctrine of sin, leads to rejection of God’s solution. Rejecting the doctrine of sin leaves the door open for all to be saved or the false doctrine of universalism. Both Robert Schuller and Billy Graham embrace the false doctrine of universalism.

That Billy Graham has taught universalism, all the while paying lip service to the gospel, for decades is a matter of record. In an interview in McCall’s magazine, January 1978, Graham stated that he no longer believed that pagans in other countries were going to hell and needed the gospel preached to them, he said there were other ways of saying yes to God. He continued to express this belief in universalism in subsequent interviews with the most famous being his television interview with Robert Schuller in 1997, where he said,

“And that’s what God is doing today, He’s calling people out of the world for His name, WHETHER THEY COME FROM THE MUSLIM WORLD, OR THE BUDDHIST WORLD, OR THE CHRISTIAN WORLD OR THE NON-BELIEVING WORLD, THEY ARE MEMBERS OF THE BODY OF CHRIST BECAUSE THEY’VE BEEN CALLED BY GOD. THEY MAY NOT EVEN KNOW THE NAME OF JESUS but they know in their hearts that they need something that they don’t have, and they turn to the only light that they have, and I think that they are saved, and that they’re going to be with us in heaven”.

The fact that not all will be saved, and that salvation is only through faith in Jesus Christ, through belief in His name, is clearly taught in the Scriptures does not deter those who preach and teach universalism. They have rejected the Bible as being the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God and elevate their mere opinion as the truth. However, this is what Jesus Christ said in Matthew 7:13-14 & 21-23.

Matthew 7:13-14 & 21-23 ¹³“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. ¹⁴Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13-14

²¹“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. ²²Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord’, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? ²³And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” Matthew 7:21-23

Jesus warns us not to be deceived thinking that we are saved and know Him, when in reality we are lost and bound for destruction. If those who claim to know Him are rejected, how much more so are those who do not believe in His name. Notice that faith includes obedience to His Father; what is the will of the Father?

And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. 1 John 3:23

³We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, ⁴so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, ⁵which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; ⁶since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, ⁷and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, ⁸in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, ¹⁰when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed. 2 Thessalonians 1:3-10

We are commanded to believe in Jesus Christ, putting our faith in His gospel of salvation. Love for our brethren and joyful anticipation of Christ’s return are the hallmark of our faith. We will and do suffer persecution from those who disobey the gospel because we are not of this world. Unbelievers can only expect the righteous judgment of God upon them for eternity because they do not know God and reject the gospel of Jesus Christ. There isn’t an escape clause for unbelievers, and God does not wink at the wicked allowing them into heaven through a backdoor. Beloved brethren, these false doctrines are the direct result of the devaluation and dismissing of God’s Word, the Bible.
