SECRET HISTORY: Originally, secret histories were designed as non-fictional, revealing or claiming to reveal the truth behind the “spin”: one such example is the Secret History of the Mongols. Secret histories can range from standard historical revisionism with proper critical reexamination of historical facts to negative historical revisionism wherein facts are deliberately omitted, suppressed or distorted.

1745 – The Ten-minute Battle – Battle of Prestonpans: A Hanoverian army under the command of Sir John Cope is defeated, in ten minutes, by the Jacobite forces of Prince Charles Edward Stuart.
1776 – Part of New York City is burned shortly after being occupied by British forces.
1780 – American Revolutionary War: Benedict Arnold gives the British the plans to West Point. Arnold became bitter over the failure of Congress to accept Britain’s 1778 proposal to grant full self-governance in the colonies, His name becomes synonymous with the word “traitor” in America.
1860 – In the Second Opium War, an Anglo-French force defeats Chinese troops at the Battle of Palikao. The British and French fight on the same side to ensure that addictive opium would be sold to the Chinese in defiance of the emperor.
1937 – J. R. R. Tolkien‘s occult adventure tale, The Hobbit, is published.
1964 – The North American XB-70 Valkyrie, the world’s first Mach 3 bomber, makes its maiden flight from Palmdale, California. This marks the first public flight of the XB-70 Valkyrie.
1976 – Orlando Letelier is assassinated in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the Chilean socialist government of Salvador Allende, overthrown in 1973 by Augusto Pinochet. Assassination is the price one pays for being on the losing side of the mystery of iniquity’s internecine struggles.
2001 – America: A Tribute to Heroes is broadcast by over 35 network and cable channels, raising over $200 million for the victims of the September 11 attacks.
