Few There Be in the Church of Jesus, But the Gates of Hell Shall Not Prevail

THE TRUE CHURCH:</strong> The gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
THE TRUE CHURCH: The gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

“When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
Matthew 16:13-18

Jesus Himself promised that the ‘gates of hell shall not prevail against’ His Church.

And so: it will not.

Although that doesn’t mean that some days, believers don’t check God’s Word to assure themselves of His many promises.

The mystery of iniquity and its minions are deceived, but they run willingly to their deception: they can see that the visible churches are totally under their command.

They can also see that the man-created mechanisms of “churchianity” (the seminaries, the Bible colleges, the so-called ‘Christian’ publishing companies, etc.) are firmly in their hands.

Add to this, they have long controlled the levers of earthly riches and political power (as the Bible declares). They completely own the intelligence and publishing fields.

In short, they have control of the world and the things of this world. In fact, in their daily lives, they emphasize those things above all else–regardless of what words might fall from their lips.

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 John 2:15

IF God and Jesus did not exist, the mystery of iniquity would be sitting pretty right about now.

But, fortunately for believers (and unfortunately for the wicked), they do exist and God’s Word is the only source of truth in a world drowning in lies.

The Bible assures believers and non-believers alike that the “gates of hell will not prevail against” the true Church of Jesus Christ.

And so it will not, though few are the members of His Church.

“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
Matthew 7:14

Though things do not look good to earthly eyes, believers are believers because they have placed their faith in the One who cannot fail. They do not place their faith in the things that can be seen.

“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.”
Revelation 16:13-14

In the end times, the whole world will be deceived by illegitimate supernatural power–but not believers.  Believers will not be looking to man or to this world or to the things of this world.

That’s why they’re called “believers.”

Regardless of numbers; regardless of the earthly power wielded by the wicked; regardless of the deceptions: the workers of iniquity will not prevail.

And many of them somehow know this: they don’t feel very confident even though they have control of practically everything in this world.

In the ages-long battle between good and evil, God Almighty is the Great Equalizer.

The gates of hell shall not prevail against His Church.

Jesus will return.

Those mockers who currently call good evil and evil  good, will suffer the judgment they’ve deceived themselves into believing will never come.

It’s not too late to change one’s course.

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
