When Men Cease to Believe the Truth, They will Believe Anything

“Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.”
–Jeremiah 7:8

The Bible declares the end times to be a time of deceit and lies; a time so full of lies that it will be impossible to see through the deception except one have the Holy Spirit of God as a guide.

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
–Matthew 24:24

WHY are the masses of people so deceived?

A few reasons.

1- Men no longer believe the truth of God’s Word.

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools…Who changed the truth of God into a lie”
–Romans 1:22,25

2- Men prefer lies to the truth.

“That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits”
–Isaiah 30:9-10

“for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:”
–Isaiah 28:15

“they delight in lies”
–Psalm 62:4

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;”
–1Timothy 4:1

“Thou lovest evil more than good;”
–Psalm 52:3

3- God Himself will allow men to believe deception.

Man wants to believe lies?  God will allow that! ALL who do not have a love for the truth will be sent strong delusion by God.

ALL who do not have a love for the truth will be damned.

“And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
–2Thessalonians 2:10-12

4- Most do not have the Holy Spirit. Because men will not repent, they are not saved. Because they are not saved, they do not have the Holy Spirit. Because they do not have the Holy Spirit, they cannot discern the truth from the lies of the master deceiver, Satan.

“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:”
–John 15:26

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”
–John 16:13

“Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”
–John 14:17

5- All men are evil and naturally shun the light of the truth, preferring to hide in the darkness.

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”
–John 3:19

When men refuse to believe the truth, they will believe anything.

The daily headlines are proof positive, not only of this maxim but of the times in which we live.

Does the reader believe the truth?

Is he certain?

“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
–John 17:17

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
–1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”

The Gospel is Hidden to Those who are Lost
