Trust in the Future: Government or God?

American Flag

“Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.”
–Psalm 146:3

A regular staple of the Corporate Media over the past decade has been accounts of the declining trust Americans have in their government.

“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man”
–Jeremiah 17:5

Let’s see: trust in Congress is at an all-time low.

Trust in the president is at his all-time low.

Few trust the Senate.

Very few EVER trusted the bureaucracy.

So that’s pretty much the entire  federal government.  Why wouldn’t trust be at an all-time low?

They’ve all worked very hard to get to the bottom.

Americans trust government less now than during Watergate

STILL, believers are to pray for the leaders of the federal government and obey the civil authorities–even if they do not agree with them.

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
–1Timothy 2:1-2

EVEN IF they feel those authorities are persecuting them.

With all of the negative attention, it may seem like a useless question to ask “WHY should Americans trust their government?” But such a question IS useful: it reveals how many who claim they do not trust their government, actually have no other plans for their future.

In one breath, a good many may claim to NOT trust the government; in the next, they are laying out plans for retirement and how future Social Security checks will be spent.

“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.”

ALL countries, empires or alliances come to an end.

ULTIMATELY, what will the reader trust?

THE governments or other schemes of man?

OR God Almighty and His Son, Jesus Christ?

THOUGH time grows short, there is still time left to change direction (repent) and call upon the name of the LORD.

Do not wait until it is too late.

Is your calling and election sure?

Time is Running Out: Today is the Day of Salvation

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
