Follow Your Heart?

human heart

The world is all about misleading the public–IF the public will listen to the world.

This is evident in the world’s many attempts to deceive the masses to “follow your heart.”

The indoctrination is heavy and constant.

“Follow your heart. Don’t follow what you’ve been told you’re supposed to do.”
J. Cole

“Follow your heart. Do what you love. Because I was constantly struggling with that. If it’s in your heart, go for it. Don’t listen to other people.”
Maz Jobrani

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.”
Helen Keller

“Trust your own instincts, go inside, follow your heart. Right from the start. go ahead and stand up for what you believe in. As I’ve learned, that’s the path to happiness.”
Lesley Ann Warren

“From my own experience, I want to say that you should follow your heart, and the mind will follow you. Believe in yourself, and you will create miracles.”
Kailash Satyarthi

(Another, more clever way of saying this same thing is “Follow your blissOR “Do what makes you happy.”  Which is all just a more refined way of re-stating that popular 1960’s bumper sticker: If it feels good, do it.)

In stark contrast to the many authorities of the world stands God’s Word: the Bible.

What does the Bible say about man heart?

Should one follow it?

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
–Jeremiah 17:9

“For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies”
–Matthew 15:19

“He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool:
Proverbs 28:26

“Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.”
–Ecclesiastes 11:9

The world’s advice is more cheery and uplifting.

And false.

After all, man certainly WANTS to believe that he is a good person.

Man WANTS to believe that there is good inside every man.

Man WANTS to believe that he can save himself.

Man WANTS to believe he has a good heart that should be followed.

Perhaps world’s suggestion might be better said: “Follow your heart–at your own risk.”

DOES the reader believe that man is inherently good?

DOES the reader believe the world’s advice to “follow your heart“?

It is not YET too late: there is still time to change direction (repent), place your faith (hope) for the future entirely on Jesus Christ and enter the kingdom of heaven.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16
